If you were the only person in the world to have a super-phenomenal power, what one power would you chose? You can only pick one... and you're the only person in the world to have any kind of superpowers. Please explain WHY you chose that power...

Oh... and you're power cant' be to give other people powers... or give yourself more powers... just stick to the guidelines of the question.
 
Invincibility. Can not get hurt, or die, or feel pain of any kind. When you're like this then you're virtually unstoppable...

For fun though, I'd rather like to be able to teleport, like Nightcrawler. But as such doesn't give me infinite life, I'd choose the former.
 
See I find that really interesting... it's a perfectly good answer but I'm curious as to why you'd want to be "unstoppable". What would you like to do that's stopping you?

EDIT: Does anyone put a "why" in their answer?
 
One power? I choose to be able to Teleport. So what if I don't live forever, who, honestly would want to? Everyone you know will die, so I choose to teleport.

Mainly for multiple reasons like making my computer work better, and my games to work 100% of the time.

Well not for any evil reasons. But so that perhaps invincibility will give a bit of a boost to my confidence.. Knowing that no matter what, that evening I won't die! :P And also, I could travel the world helping people etc etc, and not face risk of dieing myself.

Also... say like in the future, an alien invasion occurs, or a meteor is about to hit. I could protect the earth from it. I can't die, nothing affects me, so I could stop it somehow.

I could act as earths guardian. And yeah the sucky part would be that everyone I know would die, but that would be the price I pay. I'd want to see how the world develops and what kind of history is written... What innovations made etc.
 
Teleportation, its really all the good powers rolled into one. I could teleport anywhere in the world as opposed to flying, I could teleport to the city in an instant as opposed to super speed and I could teleport to a spot where no-one could see me as opposed to invisibility.

As for why I'd want it, I enjoy travelling so I could travell anywhere in a blink of an eye which would save me thousands on plane flights :monster:

Also because it is an obvious power I could make a ton of money if I decided to do stage shows an such. Plus it would be a pretty cool party trick as well.
 
God knows that my heart constantly yearns for either of these two: the ability to be Immortal or a certain level of Omniscience. Immortality would be because then I would have a chance to learn many things, living on as the eons pass, not fearing death nor pain, always there to watch as humanity steps back and forth between evolution, and yet in the end, I would be desiring the peace of death which would have been denied to me on the day I was granted such immortality. I guess I would submit myself to a temporal slumber and await for the day to awaken.

Immortality without someone to share it with is ...empty...such a grim fate to walk alone as those you cherish are extinguished, their life force crushed by the weight of time. What is a world without being devoted to something or someone? Without having a reason to be? Is there any need for such a world? Why do we want to be more than what we already are? Eventually, that which pleases us at first ends up being unappealing and unpleasing by the resolution of our desires.

As for omniscience, well that has to do with my hunger and constant pursuit of knowledge and wisdom. To see it all and to know it all...and yet the price to pay would be to suffer the same pain these thoughts bring with it. As an Omniscient being, I would be able to know when someone is in pain, the sorrow would be unbearable.

Now that I think of it, if I were to have an ability then it would be to love and be loved eternally, even beyond death, by the person to whom I am devoted. Eternal life without her would be...meaningless.

It is quite hard to explain, but I hope you all get my point.
 
Telekinesis would be rather nice. Being able to have my dinner come upstairs to me would be beautiful. If I was a powerful enough of a telekinetic, I'd like to use my powers to enable me to fly, too - but at a decent speed. Flying at the same speed at which I can walk is useless. :wacky:

A bit of omnipotency would be somewhat attractive, too.
 
Telekinetic powers would be extremely nice for me to have so I don't have to get up and close my own door everytime someone leaves the room or getting the remote when it's on the other side of the room. It may sounds lazy for me but it just makes life a bit more easier to go by.
 
hmmmm i would say super speed i could do the forest gump thing and run round the world, except in a matter of minutes or hours either would be fine. Also on a friday night id be able to run to the shop get a bottle of vodka then run to the chipper and over to my mates house in a flash, no more standing at bus stops for lewis.
