I actually love them both, both for very similar reasons. The simple colours and bird breeds used lol. In the end, I've gone for 1 since owls don't suck your brain out through your ears :s.

Though honestly...it was a coin flip .

1 - The colours and text work well, but I would have preferred to see the tips of the owl's wings, which have been lost.

2 - Beautiful lighting, which brings this piece together. The colours and text also work incredibly well.

The render placement is well done and the colours are nicely handled with a delicate touch. I love the clear cut simplicity which makes this actually difficult to master elegance look effortless!

#2 I know this is unfair, but my perception was not all the way tuned into the picture at first. I was going to go with 1, until I noticed the wing tips gone as well. Both are cleverly done, so please realize, just a little more and you have it (granted resizing without losing anything is a job in itself).
