i really need help guys. re-playing FFVIII for the 9th time and finally found Ultima weapon. I have all my characters in my party at Least level 65 and i still cant beat the bastard. Any help with strategies would be much appreicated.

Get Lionheart. Then use Aura + Meltdown.
Only use Squall to attack, the other two heal.
Use Holy war or something like that if you have any.
Just keep trying buddy, you can do it.^_^

You just need to be a high level, have some strong magicks and make sure whoever else you have on the team, constantly protects Squall (if you don't use Holy War on him while his HP is low). You will need to have Squall use his Limit (forget what 8 calls them).

And yea, like Bjork said if you have any Holy Wars, you should use them on Squall when his HP is low so you can keep using his limit attack :3

Best of luck with the fight!

Doomtrain, Cerberus, Aura and Limits worked for me. Last time, I used Squall, Zell and Irvine. Squall used Renzokuken, whatever I fancied with Zell's Duel and it was either Quick Shot or AP Shot with Irvine.

You just need to have your party have 9999HP (Ultima works well)

Upgrade to lionheart, shooting star for rinoa and erhgeiz for zell.

first round, summon cerberus so your party has triple. next cast aura and meltdown like the others have mentioned.

BEFORE YOU ATTACK:

Draw Eden from him (The only GF that can break the damage limit)

Then use your limit breaks till the bastard goes down makng sure to top up yer health.

(2-3 Lionhearts should take him down if your damage is sufficient)

This actually sums up the strategy nicely.

I'm thinking that since this is allegedly your ninth play-through of the game I won't bother to lecture you about proper junctioning. The emphasis should be placed on HP (since he hits hard) and STR (since you need to hit hard).

Your goal is to draw Eden and basically spam Renzozuken until you hit Lionheart, and that will be that. Don't really bother attacking with the others unless you want to throw in a Zell Limit Break here and again.

What I always do, that eventually makes this battle pretty easy, is:

Rinoa in limit break status (whether through low HP or Aura, your choice), and junction some Luck if possible. She can then use Wishing Star (which does a buttload of damage) and Invincible Moon (which is what got me through this in the first place). You get these by finding/buying Pet Pals Vols. You can buy Wishing Star from Vol. 5 or 6, I can't remember which...either way, they're both in Esthar.

Squall in limit break mode, Renzokuken the crap out of the enemy, as usual. Lionheart is really not even necessary. Just keep hammering away, hopefully invincible from Rinoa's limit break.

Any other random third character equipped with the ability "Kamikaze." I believe this is a junction from Cactuar. It takes away upwards of 20-60K damage from the enemy, depending on your maximum HP. That character's GFs equipped to them won't receive AP, but you can always sacrifice AP on a GF or two for the sake of defeating Ultima, right?

If you need to learn some of those abilities, a quick way is to put Quistis in low HP range and just use Degenerator on every enemy. It works on any enemy down there (other than Ultima, of course).

AND DON'T FORGET TO DRAW EDEN BEFORE YOU WIPE OUT ULTIMA!

Good luck!

I just did the cheap method of having selphy do The End wich required an aura while everyone was under holy war and that was about it just make sure to draw eden from it first.

This. except equip Meltdown to Squall's Status Attack, Or use Doomtrain (If you have him.)

Don't forget to draw Eden from him (Only GF to do over 9999 damage)

Just make sure your junctions are up to scratch, especially defence (meltdown + VIT+60).
Have full life ready for his light pillar attack as it kills instantly. Make sure you have at least 2 characters that can junction speed (triple). The HP+80 ability is very helpful although don't go mad trying to reach 9999HP. I have beaten him on a no level game and he is actually much easier then with levelled up characters so don't feel the need to level up, the stronger you get, the stronger he gets!

Quistis's mighty guard is great if you use her, use Squall and either Zell or Irvine (AP ammo) to deal damage via their limit breaks. Remember to cast meltdown first thought!
