So What Are You Thankful For?

Well it's that time of year for giving thanks again. Families all across many countries (or maybe just America) will be celebrating Thanksgiving with family members they only see once or twice a year to tell each other what they are greatful for.

So does your family celebrate Thankgiving? What sorts of things are you thankful for?

I'm not really sure what the rest of my family does for thanksgiving. I think they have parties and whatnot. I'm spending this thanksgiving at home with my boyfriend. (Well...not really at home; we're just staying in town).

I actually already prepared all of the food tonight. I made honey baked ham, broccoli and ham casserole, and mashed potatoes. We're bringing everything over to a friend's house and having a get together. We're also going to bring our new rock band game. ^.^

What am I thankful for? A roof over my head, clothes on my back, and someone who loves me for what I'm worth.
 
My family has never celebrated Thanksgiving before. I actually didn't have my first Thanksgiving until last year when I went to a friend's house for Thanksgiving and I loved it.

This year I'm going to another friends house to celebrate it. The only thing I'm faithful for is that I still have the faith to keep going even when things seem to be going downhill.
 
Nope, we don't celebrate it. I've heard about it and thats about as good as it gets.

But I suppose I'm thankful to have (almost) got thru this terrible year.
 
Ever since I came to America, we've always celebrated Thanksgiving. ;) I'll miss my dad's side of the family get-together and their awesome food back in Cali.

Tomorrow we'll spending Thanksgiving at my stepmom's parents place at West Virginia. God knows I need a break from Ohio.

Um, I also wanted to see my stepmom's parents really badly because even though they're not really direct family, they are very nice and treats me like their grandaughter anyway...and tomorrow will probably the last time I'll see them since they are extremely really sick and may pass away soon. I rarely go to West Virginia, you see. My stepmom doesn't really remember anyone anymore, even her children...so it might be hard tomorrow. Then my stepmom's dad has cancer...he doesn't want his wife to know though...

Anyway, I'm thankful for everything that makes me happy in this world, especially my husband, daughter, and mom. I'm thankful for many things, really, even the small things that come my way.

And I'm thankful for this site. =) You guys are the best.
 
Of course I celebrate Thanksgiving! I'm a fat kid at heart. ;D

My mom makes awesome Turkey. Tomorrow I'll be helping my mom out with food. I can't wait for Pumpkin pie. :wacky:

I'm thankful for everything I have. Clothes, car, computer, house etc. I'm thankful for my parents being healthy, and my boyfriend. Also I'm thankful for Erythritol's mom recovering. ^_^
 
Oh my family celebrates Thanksgiving alright, it's just that I abhor turkey. I mean, it's alright with the cranberry sauce and everything but after the night and it turns into leftovers it just tastes like...crud. Imo. I do like the mashed potatoes though. xD

And my grandma makes it into turkey broth, and makes us eat it for the next couple of weeks. D:

I don't celebrate Thanksgiving as tis an American fiesta, but I suppose one thing I am thankful for is not being English. =P

We never celebrate thanksgiving, but it's more of an American holiday/celebration, right?

What am I thankful for? Well, my health first of all. Where would I be without my health? And my senses, like sight and hearing. I'd be lost without those. I'm also highly thankful for my family. I don't know where or who I'd be without them. My family includes my cats by the way. ;) Next, I'm thankful for my friends. They bring me a lot more confidence! And education. I fuss about school and homework but I'm very lucky to have such a good education really. I'm also grateful for what I can do. My ability to write, draw and paint a little. I can video edit and use Premiere as well as Photoshop. I can play the piano, and a couple of other instruments, well enough. I'm thankful for a lot more, but those are the main things.
 
What I noticed today during thanksgiving dinner, no one really did the what I'm thankful for and I'm wondering if it has actually fallen out of tradition. I have seen movies where during thanksgiving dinner they each go around the table and say what they are thankful for, but today I don't even think it was even in anyones mind.

It kinda beats the whole point of thanksgiving because if you aren't celebrating what you are thankful for, then what are you celebrating?
 
I had a great thanksgiving yesterday. I ended up feeding 13 people with 1 ham and a heck of a lot of broccoli cheese casserole. Luckily enough, everyone LOVED my cooking. ^.^

The rest of them seemed to be overjoyed to be eating so good. But the secret truth...(I cook like this all the time at home). This is the only day of the year, besides Christmas on which I cook a ham or large bird. I like to cook; but I don't like standing next to the oven for 5 hours, basting a naked piece of meat.

I agree with Bei Bei. That whole thankfulness thing...down the drain. Almost everyone thanked me yesterday for cooking, but most of them were total pigs. And in the end...I didn't get to eat until I went home at 4am because the kitchen was wiped clean before I could get any of my own food. <.<
