What now?

Doesn't the planet kinda like, need the Cetra to make the land fertile Or somethin' like that? So unless Aerith somehow had an offspring all the cetra are gone... what exactly does that do to the planet?
 
I think the Cetra were only there to communicate and lend in healing the Planet :hmmm: which would explain why the Planet flourished till Jenova landed on the Planet and killed off the majority of the Cetra and the huge crater still exists. It also explains why the land started decaying a lot after the events of FF7 :hmmm:
 
Yeah, so basically, now that the care takers are dead... the planet can't exactly flourish anymore right? :hmmm:
 
Yeah, unless Aerith can continue to manipulate the lifestream the Planet is more or less rotting away, I can't imagine the attempted Omega ascendance thing in DoC did it much good either.

So if the planet is kinda just slowly rotting away... what's with the flourishing plants 500 years in the future? Do I sense some plot development in future installments? :jess:

I'm still a little confused on what exactly happens to the planet now. :hmmm:
 
Aye, since areas like Midgar were just left to rot even though people still seemed to live there. Even in 2 years the place is still a mess :hmmm: sure they're not miracle workers but the rubble could be cleaned at least.

And aye, that is a good point Cali, makes you wonder just how deep Aerith's connection is to the lifestream, perhaps she is able to keep the planet going for centuries that way.

Hmm, perhaps. :hmmm: Could Aerith really do something so vast as just a half Cetra?
 
If I recall correctly, the main reason the planet was dying so quickly was due to the Shinra draining the lifestream with their mako reactors. I think the lifestream is essentially what keeps the planet going not the Cetra. With the Mako reactors gone, the lifestream can flourish.
 
That is a good point, but weren't the Cetra the ones who kind of 'directed' the Lifestream to heal and strengthen The Planet? Without direction isn't it's capabilities limited?

That's what I thought, too. But then there's other information that says it was the Cetra that made the planet so fertile and flourishing.
 
It's been a while since I played FFVII. :lew:

According to FFWiki, the Cetra traveled the planet cultivating life as they went. And apparently they opened up lifestream veins in the planet working to make the land fertile.

I guess it could be said that since the lifestream veins are open and mako reactors no longer threaten it, the planet can continue to flourish.

Otherwise the planet is completely boned. :wacky:
 
Ya, I guess they were sort of 'Planetary Gardeners' :lew:

Since the Midgar Church had a Lifestream vein it would explain the huge amount of vegetation in the 500 years later sequence :hmmm:
 
Yeah, but can cetra open the lifestream veins from the within the lifestream? I know Aerith controlled the lifestream to stop meteor but does that count?

It could be that all of the lifestream veins are currently open. Although it seems that being able to manipulate the lifestream from within is an ability the Cetra have since Aerith does it. So maybe they can.
 
Nah, the Cetra could just talk to the planet, for whatever reason. Phlebontium. Planet has been doing fine on its own, Cetra not included, so Cetra probably were like guardians to prevent the planet from being eaten by some evil hurga-shmurga. Which they did. :D

Does anyone else have a suspicion that Aeris wasn't the last one...? I mean, how can they possibly know? Do they take DNA tests of EVERYONE on the planet? I dunno.

Anyway, I think that the planet was doing pretty ok, couple years after the fact. And what about that little snippet thing with Nanaki, when it's supposed to be like, a hundred years later? Looking good, right?
 
I'm pretty sure that the Cetra were just an ancient civilization consumed with the idea of magic and worldly power, and therefore discovered the secrets of it before modern intrigue took over.
The planet's life is recycled, much like the concept of reincarnation. Shinra was only a threat because they were manufacturing this life force and draining the cycle.
Unless I'm missing something, I'm pretty sure this is how it plays out.
 
As far as ive been aware since the game all the people of the world are decendents of the cetra so they arent all gone the true power and whatnot they had is deminished since threw the generations they lost or didnt care to continue the true cetra path.
 
Humans didn't come from the Cetra; the Cetra came to the planet and were there when whatever humans were evolved into humans. It was then that the human race had an explosion of banging and overpopulated, and the Cetra fell almost completely out of existence. The Cetra were the miads of the planet basically in their time on "Earth". Whenever the planet was harmed, they nurtured it back to health. Think of the time when Earth was a mass of molten rock; think that everytime a stray meteor hit Earth, a bunch of people would run up and pour peroxide on the wound. That's basically what the Cetra did. They could also open up "vents" for the lifestream to pool out, allowing it greater access to the planet to heal it if it were harmed.

Bugenhagen even said that the world would meet an end eventually.
No matter what was done - it would only slow things down.
But the Earths fate remained. I believe this is because the Cetra were wiped out. ; n ;
