I'm so tired of the way Square is treating us at the moment. Like we're dumb or stupid or something. Here's why.

Where the fudge is the the Type 0 English translation ? Type 0 came out in Japan yokes ago and there has been no news, no hints no nothing on SE ever giving the USers or the Europeans Type 0. What the fudge is going on here ?

Final Fantasy X HD. Where the hell is it ? They announced it ages ago and where is it ? Nowhere. Not a picture, not a review, not a page, not a hint. Nothing.

Versus. This is basically already been complained about many times already, it's basically already clear what's going on with this.

Bravery Default. This game has been promised a October Japanese release, and it actually looks great. It looks like the older Final Fantasy games before FFX. Problem ? SE hasn't given any hint or mark that they're going to give it a US or Europe release. They're sobbing us out; just like they're doing with Type 0.

Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI 3DS remakes. This should of been done ages ago. In fact when did FF IV DS come out ? Five years or something stupid. Yet there is nothing on FF V and FF VI getting a remake. Why ? They should be and fans have been asking for them, so what's happening ?

Instead they're making Lightning milks the cow again returns and which hardly nobody wants and is going to turn out to be shit; we all know it.

I want to jump to the Tales fandom or maybe give the Zelda games a try again or something, anything but support this crappy shit of a company. That treats it's fans like DOGS. And the one's that are not from Japan even more like Dogs.

I totally agree with this, tbh the only decent department rpg wise that square has atm is the kingdom hearts team, only 2 programmers worked on KH HD and they gonna get it out pretty much before FFX HD even have screens. also where versus 13, an awesome game that had no gameplay trailer or screens in 6 years, and finally, where my type-0 being brought over to europe and the US, get your backside in gear square :rage:

My best guess? It's not been going anywhere, or at least it hasn't gone very far. Type-0 from the start was an overly ambitious game for the platform it was on, with 2 UMD discs and an inflated budget that would make every other PSP developer cry. Obviously, with the PSP being pretty much a dinosaur in the west, I don't think Square have the stomach to spend all the money and effort in localising it for the PSP, or even for a digital release (consider all the characters to dub and rewrite dialogue for and the vast numbers of various texts, journals and pieces of lore that are reportedly in the game) when the gains for doing so could be rather pathetic.

Of course, it's easy to suggest a Vita remastering, but that's even more of an effort. And consider the PS Vita install base. Even in Japan, the Vita install base is wildly eclipsed by the 3DS. Developers will still prefer to release games for the PSP there because of its large install base, and for the 3DS because of the same reason. For the west, I don't even want to think how pathetically small it is. Granted, the game has the strong Final Fantasy label to sell on, but is that going to be enough to shift sufficient numbers of the game to warrant the resources that have gone into upscaling and translating the game? I don't really know.

I don't have a flying fuck of a clue either. It's not even like FFX was THAT heavy on pre-rendered backgrounds compared to the PS1 titles and its character models have more polygons than in FFXII, so I've no idea what's taking so long either. They say 10th anniversary of FFX? It's long gone anyway. Better 15th anniversary at this rate because I suspect that Square only announced it super early to try and save Sony's arse a bit on the underwhelming Vita front.

"We are doing our best and the game is in development. Please wait for a report coming soon."

They probably will do so eventually. I see no reason why they won't and if they aren't confident on this obscure (and frankly, nonsensical name) IP, they can always brand it as a Final Fantasy title. Heck, something as niche as Theatrhythm made it, so why not Bravely?

No idea. At first I thought the team behind the FFIII and FFIV remakes were working on Bravely, until I realised that it's someone else. I would have thought they'd be leaping to do FFV and FFVI remakes, so I'm curious too.

Instead they're making Lightning milks the cow again returns and which hardly nobody wants and is going to turn out to be shit; we all know it.

Because we all know that Raitoringu is the best FF character ever! And because as well as LR, they've got all this manpower in the hundreds working on FFXIV. If I were to wager on who the elephant in the room is, I'll put money on FFXIV 2.0 than the FFXIII games. At least with LR, I suspect it's just Toriyama's and Kitase's team with another developer chained in the basement to work on the game while everyone else at Square bar Nomura beavers away at pulling the MMO Titanic out of the water.

I find it difficult to care about Square Enix anymore, if I'm honest. I can't fault them for trying to change to keep up with the changing times, but what I CAN and WILL fault them for, however, is not realizing that their idea of "change" did not work. Final Fantasy XIII was not change, it was an outdated, backwards and utterly disastrous work of crap, and that they didn't recognise this the first time around, and STILL haven't realised it, is what bothers me. They are completely ignoring all criticism and just forging ahead with it anyway, alienating a large percentage of their fanbase; they haven't learned from their mistakes, and they aren't progressing. THAT is what I fault them for: for continuing to make shit, not for making a shit game and then stopping. If they had stopped after FFXIII, I wouldn't be so inclined to judge them so harshly.

I think where remakes, remasters and ports are concerned, it's a question of priorities: they want to push their new IPs out, given the mixed reception of FFXIII and XIII-2, and expand into new territories to keep their profits high and their shareholders happy. There is a lot of talk about the JRPG genre dying - and to whoever says that, I tell you to fuck off and go play Xenoblade, and then come back and say that again - and that there is a general preference for games that have, traditionally, been the province of Western developers. It seems to be the way the market is headed: less Japanese, more Western. Less one-off, stand alone epics, more milking games for all they're worth with sequel after sequel. Re-release an old game that will bring you a crapton of profit, or bring in a new IP and advertise the hell out of it and make a crapton of profit AND the games that can follow it? The thing with their older games is that they're standalone, and good for one time only, as such. If they establish a new IP, they can milk the crap out of that with sequels, prequels and spinoffs.

Remakes and remasters of old FF games WILL generate a lot of profit, but not in the long-term, and Japanese business has always been governed by long-term thinking. Committing your resources new IPs which have long-term potential is a more attractive choice than remaking or remastering an old game that will give you a lot of short-term gain but can't really be used for anything else because it's a standalone title. It's not about quality or pleasing fans anymore; they have well and truly be taken in by this Western business attitude that profit is all that matters; FFXIII more than proves that.

Localization is...iffy, really. If I had to guess, I'd say that they're too afraid to put the money and resources into it when they don't know how well it will do. You might think it obvious that it'd sell by the bucketloads, and you'd be right, but what Square Enix and its shareholders deem as acceptable sales and what we might think of as acceptable sales are two totally different things. Given the criticism surrounding XIII and XIII-2, I doubt they want to risk a Type-0 localization; if Toriyama's reaction is anything to go by, they haven't realised or can't accept that it's the GAME that is bad, it is NOT due to a lack of interest in the JRPG genre.

I'm afraid I am NOT buying the "lack of resources" excuse when they can get two people to remaster Kingdom Hearts on the PS3 in just under a year, and considering how large they are as a company. I have to wonder why they haven't given FFX the same speed treatment as the KH remaster, but that said, KH arguably has more potential than FFX...after all, someone with a PS3 who buys KH might be inspired to buy the 3DS game, or the DS game, or any of the other ones that are around. Someone who buys FFX won't necessarily be inspired to buy FFXIII, because it's completely separate.

I wouldn't recommend abandoning the FF fandom in favour of the Tales fandom, as such; Namco Bandai, historically, treat their fans even worse than Square Enix do, with a large percentage of the mothership Tales titles never being localized, leaving it to the fans to do it: even with their improved track record (after all, we've had Vesperia and Graces f, now we're getting Xillia and probably Xillia 2 after that) there are still massive gaps in their localization; Innocence, Hearts, etc. Gust Corporation have a much better track record, and so do Nippon Ichi Software...at least, to a degree; they localize their larger scale titles. Their games are much better as well, but that's neither here nor there at the moment.
