It's a shame no one till now hadn't made a thread for Shadow Hearts. Many in fact confuse it with Kingdom Hearts. No,Shadow Hearts is not Kingdom Hearts it may be an RPG game too but it's very different.Discuss which one of the three SH games is your favorite and etc.

Do you think there'll be a SH4 game?If yes,who do you want as its main character?I say Yuri.

Hm, I've only played a tiny bit of Covenant - so little it's barely worth mentioning - but the trailers made it look very very good indeed! I plan to start playing it soon... I just should finish FFXII and Phoenix Wright 2 first. Oh, and I wanna try out PoP3 on the PSP. I have tooo many games to finish. :P

Could anyone tell me how good Covenant is in relation to the other games in the series?

Covenant is the sequel of SH1,it just shows Yuri's life after Alice's death. It's a really good game though,I loved it and it has so many secret items you must find.

Shadow Hearts was a brilliant game. An awesome modern-gothic setting, a varied and interesting cast of characters, and an actually engaging and exciting battle system where you don't simply 'press and select' all the time. The story was fantastic, and the endings, both the normal and secret, were great.

I played through Covenants, but I loved the first a whole lot more. I've never played the third in the installment. Might have to pick it up someday.

I think the second differs quite much from the first. It's less gothic, less dark and less "series".I love the funny ecchi scenes.I think that's why many SH fan weren't that pleased from it,because it was much more different.

I played most of Shadow Hearts 3: To the New World a long time ago, but I heard the first two games were a lot better.

I haven't beaten SH3, but aside from overly cliche scenes, it's not bad.

It was a little disconcerting to be traveling across the United States and meeting famous people like Al Capone(spelling?) though o_O

A lot of funny scenes, but it does get serious after a while; I'm not very fond of the lead character Johnny, but his alter ego, after you gain his form, was pretty kewl looking ^_^

I only played Shadow Hearts: From the New World though I think it's pretty good however I don't like the Judgment ring and the fact that my max HP is 999 o_O

The Judgement Ring was my favorite part because if you had something like the Seventh Key or Eternal Key you could deal great damage.(more than 30 hits)

I've have both Covenant and From the New World in my collection and love them both equally. If I can find It I'll be adding The Oringinal Shadow Hearts and Koulka to my collection as well.

I can't find the first one in the stores here unfortunately so I'll try downloading but I've heard many good comments about.Though I think Covenant will continue to be my favorite SH.
Has anyone unlocked Yuri's Dark Seraphim fusion in Covenant?

I haven't but then again I havn't beaten gotten past Italy yet. If you do download it could you provide me a link.

Ok,but you're gonna need something like BitLord or BitTorrent.

Then I guess you've met Lucia. Her Aromatherapy can be really useful in some situations so and her Tarot Cards, but sometimes the cards have a negative effect on your party, like kill them.So I wouldn't suggest you using in a weird place with strong monsters,at least not often.

While I agree that the 2nd game had a more refined combat system and far superior production values, a lot of the charm from the original was lost in translation.

Storywise, the first one was better and the characters definitely interest me more in that game to the point where I actually cared for them. Can't say the same for Covenant, when you've got these bland personalities like Joachim, Lucia and Anastasia onboard.

The soundtrack was also one of the first game's big plus points, which seemed like a cross between Silent Hill's darkness with Chrono Cross's laid back approach. It fitted the mood perfectly and definitely added to the suspenseful atmosphere.

I give the original my highest recommendation, no fan of the series should leave this gem out in their collection.

My two cents on what I've played of the series:

Shadow Hearts - Loved it. The only one I've beaten of the three though. It was just a nice game to play through, not particularly difficult ( Yuri being brokenly strong ), different atmosphere to most other rpg's I can think of and the Judgement Ring at least made the battles feel a bit more individual than most games'. Also, the soundtrack was excellent, with many strong tracks throughout the game.

Covenant - A bit meh compared to the first one. I'm only just in the second or third area of the second disc though. As has been said; the battles really had a bit more depth added to them with the attack types, positional consequences and defence. I also liked the little Solomons' Key riddle. I like the new characters as well. But I've been able to put my finger on two things that irk me about the game: 1 - No music when in dungeons, has anyone else noticed the fact that you get that same howling/ambience playing in pretty much every dungeon area? It's a shame to not use the talents of someone as capable as Hirota. 2 - The monsters just aren't as gruesome as the first one, making it feel a bit more generic in my eyes.

From The New World - An improvement over Covenant, but still not reaching the highs of Shadow Hearts. I love the quirky characters included in the game and best of all:
Having Al Capone as an ally was ace!
 The musics as good as the first games' soundtrack, and the new setting of the Americas is a fresh change. But I still can't shake the irk that I'm simply not enjoying it as much as Shadow Hearts. Again, more than anything I think it's the atmosphere that it can't quite match. There's also the slight issue that it feels as though it's growing closer to its' end and I'm still not satisfied, I'm waiting for there to be some huge twist that'll extend the games' lifespan somewhat.

I started playing SH,the first game and I'm already loving it.It's only in the beginning yet.
It will never replace SH:Covanant no matter what.

There was a thread, but its over a year old:

I love the series and it was linked to PS1 horror RPG Koudelka. Yuri is a great lead character and the ring battle system is nice and refreshing. Although Id say the last game was a bit OTT with bizzare characters. Wouldnt say its my fav, but Covenant is a true piece of gaming. Karen was a great female character.

I am a proud owner of all three games :D I have completed all except for one because
Lady
is so god damn hard

I love how they are unique from other RPG's with the judgement ring because it can be quite challenging to newcomers, the storylines in all 3 were great even though Alice went from being English to American

I also love how the games split up into good and bad endings, and they always seem to carry on from the bad ones, so SH4 if one is ever released
WILL NOT
have Yuri in it!

I think there won't be anymore Shadow Hearts.

Even if SH might be better than Covenant,I for myself cannot accept it.I still love SH:Covenant more that SH.

Have you played SH3 though? I don't think they will just leave it with
Shania being consumed by malice
the way the game goes it hints at another SH as they always continue from the bad ending.

They didn't continue SH:Covenant from the bad ending though so I doubt.
