“Several” Kingdom Hearts titles being planned, says Nomura [4/13]

Kingdom Hearts creator Tetsuya Nomura has let slip that “several” titles in the Disney/Square hybrid are being planned.

“I can’t really give many details, but we do have several titles being planned and some in preparation for development, so I hope you’ll look forward to those in the future,” he said in a Q&A on the Japanese Square Enix Members site.

Already, Nomura’s said he’s looking to release at least one new Kingdom Hearts title this year in Japan. That title, however, won’t be Kingdom Hearts III: he’s already said it won’t be the next title in the series. And even then, if KH III were to happen, it would depend on what happens with Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which Nomura is currently directing.

The latest Kingdom Hearts, Birth By Sleep, released near the start of the year in Japan for PSP, and will now release in summer in the west.

Myself though, am less than enthusiastic, I'm still licking my wounds over KHII

Why do they have to overkill everything? Oh well, if it keeps people happy that want them :wacky:
 
The word "several" killed it a bit for me. As good as it may be that Kingdom Hearts is popular and is therefore getting more (no doubt great) games, I don't want to see it becoming that oversaturated anytime soon. By that, I mean really screw up the story into a big mess that may need Stephen Hawkings to explain to me.

I've still yet to get up to date with the KH franchise, so I will need to get a move on, starting with actually getting KHII. I do welcome a KHIII though. Better that than having countless side-stories popping up.
 
They released a logo for KH Coded along with the logos for 358/2 Days and Birth by Sleep... any word on Coded yet or has it just been shafted?
 
Fuckin beautiful announcement. I'll never get tired of this series, especially if they're kicking the Xehanort saga to the kerb soon - it'll feel brand new again. Can't wait. :gonk:

Also, if you don't want more titles then don't buy them!
 
I know one of these titles has to do with Riku's absence. Can't wait to see what develops from these games :woo:

They can make 10 more games if they wanted, as long as each one has meaning towards the overall plot :ryan:
 
As long as it's connected to the story, I'll end up buying it xD

And I really am enthralled with the story, and the character may not appeal to everyone, but I absolutely love them, so I'm fine with seeing more and more Kingdom Hearts games ;D

Although really...I just hope there aren't anymore mobile games. I'm still squirming around to hear anything about some kind of Western release for Coded in any form, so if they make it a trend to release more mobile games, I'll be gutted :ness:

"has" as in "has been confirmed" or as in "I really hope!"? Also, what absence? His story's almost completely accounted for already...

KHWikia claims that Nomura has "plans for a Western Release"...if Wiki is unreliable then KHWikia...well, take it how you will.

Excerp from Director's Secret Report XIII

III -
Presently there are 4 main untold stories to consider: "the period of the King's absence", "the period of Riku's absence", "Roxas' time in Organization XIII" and "Xehanort's past". In this case, the story of "the period of the King's absence" is set in the realm of darkness. I am examining a way to tell these 4 stories so I might be able to find a way to tell them soon.


I know Xehanort's past has been explained in BBS and Roxas' time in
the Organization has been explained in Days, so this "Riku's Absence" must be one of the games that are being developed, along with the "King's Absence", although that one may have something to do with Coded :hmmm:
 
The King's absence would also come under BbS, maybe...

Where'd you find that Director's report? Wouldn't mind reading that. I just can't think what we've yet to discover about Riku. Thanks to the Final Mix scenes we know what happened for him to meet Maleficent, and we know what happened to him after KH1, as well as during most days of Days, and even KH2. I suppose there are shady bits in the middle but I can't imagine games being made out of them...
