[S/D] Eureka Academy: Second Semester

Damn....

So, is Raistlin going to become like the major bad guy in the end or something? Because it sure as hell looks like it...

ACK! ALL THIS ACTIVITY AND I DON'T HAVE A COMPUTER FOR A WHOLE WEEK! -__- Anyway students please remember to stay on the topic of the rp within this thread. ^^ I've yet to approve bios/work on IDs yet :3 The new student handbook is in production and I'm still designing the new ID format and student store devices.

Yeah, that, and then you've got Survivor V to participate in. :wacky:

Anyways, I'm so late finishing that second character bio of mine, just afraid of screwing up my first human character in any way. :hmmm:

I have two other characters I may bring into the RP, but they probably won't appear until much later . :hmmm:

And do remember that I can always offer a hand whenever/if you need help with making IDs, Olive . :griin:

Finished James this weekend so I'm adding him to the roster.

Name: James Lawrence Hoffman

Age: 28 (appearance)

Actual Age: 248

Title: Head Librarian (also a magic tutor)

Class: Planeswalker

Appearance: Shoulder length sandy blond hair that seems to grow wild. A half-smile on his face at all times. Heavy lidded green eyes that make him seem sleepy. His dress shirts are often rumpled and never tucked in. His long coat looks like it has seen far better days (which it has). James just looks like a stoner.

He is about 6’ 3” and weighs about 175. His build is that of a swimmer and that is how he likes to spend his mornings – swimming in Eureka Academy’s Olympic size pool for about an hour or so before breakfast.

(Look at the bloody picture if you want more.)
untitled84.jpg

Weapon: Scythe- For battle purposes this is just an ordinary scythe. James can channel his magic through it and if he wants to be incredibly flashy, he can use it to make an entrance into the void by slashing it. It is normally contained in a pendant on his neck. Said pendant is just that of a shield with his family crest with two scythes crossing behind it.

Personality: James breaks the mold for what people think of when they think librarian. Given that he has all the time in the universe, he likes to take things slow and enjoy life. Sometimes you’ll see him wandering the gardens of Eureka in a seeming daze. Or maybe sitting in a chair in the library reading a book.

He is very friendly and though he isn’t a teacher, many students come to him for tutoring in magic, some for his stories, others for the centuries of knowledge he knows. He has a quick sense of humor, there being far more than one case of him squirting a drink through his nose at something funny.

Despite his obvious age (and his not so obvious age) he enjoys sitting in on classes, especially when the teacher is using materials he has written. He will also never start a fight though he will finish them.

Abilities: Immortal- He doesn’t die from age. You can still kill him though.

Green Magic- The ability to control and utilize nature. Can summon reptiles, beasts, forest dragons, plants, fungi. Can also destroy artifice and enchantments. Facilitates growth, healing and renewal.

Blue Magic- Grants control of temporal and spacial realities as well as the ocean and mind realms. Can summon sea creatures, water dragons, merfolk, birds and artifacts. Also redirects and cancels energies. Facilitates deceit and control over mechanical creations as well as illusionaries and freedom.

{Summoning addendums: First, whatever is summoned is under geas to obey James and only James. It can still act on tis own but cannot take an action againt him. This also means that control cannot be taken from him until he relinquishes it by returnign it to where it came from. Second, the sea creatures summoned are also allowed to breath air like water and move as though they are in their natural habitat and vice versa for the land ones.}

Planar Travel - Through use of a ritual, James is able to travel across time and space to other planes of existence as well as time itself. It take a minimum of 1 hour to set up with that time increasing the farther the destination is.

History: Born in 5061 CE on an alternate Earth, James was quite the normal kid. He had a passion for books that was never quite understood by his peers. His voracity in reading and writing both landed him in classes for just that that were levels ahead of his peers as well. The rising star of his school system, they were disappointed when he chose to become a librarian at the university.

Still, he was respected by everyone. Students came to him for help and he willingly gave it to them, quickly becoming one of the most well-loved staff members. Though not really technologically inclined, he could easily use most of the computerized information receptacles (CIRs). These are basically small cubes that appear to be made of crystal but can hold the information that exists in any one section under a broader topic, like Islam under Religion.

He was taken from his world at the age of 28 and thrust into a game on a gigantic maze of constantly switching tiles. Not one to fight, he watched as everyone else was eliminated. When it came to his turn, he ended up playing a game of cat and mouse and trapping his opponent under an avalanche. Taking his opponents sword, he held it to their neck and assured his victory.

To understand his wish, you would need to know more of his background. He was librarian of a section call Creation Theory. The tomes within detailed different ways the universe and all parallels had been created. Some talked of religion, others of physics. James was far more interested in the physics part though, going into that section and reading up on everything. He discovered that for any choice, a number of universes are spawned equal to the number of choices where a different choice is chosen. That meant there were other worlds that were similar and also completely different. It was his dream to go to them and experience everything.

His wish was to be an immortal that could traverse time and space. His wish was granted in the form of the planeswalker spark that burns within him. It allowed him to harness time and space like toys and as a side effect also gave him power over the very forces of life, like a god. And a god was essentially what he became.

He has since traversed the planes, going as far back as to when human first walked on many planets and to the end of the worlds. He has seen multiple alien species and worlds were magic exists. He has kept several blank CIRs and has recorded a journal of his 213 years of planeswalking. For the past fifteen years though, he had worked at Eureka Academy as its Head Librarian for all fifteen years of its existence, having found that this particular plane is rather fun to live on, especially in the wake of the island floating.

Second post for new bio to keep apart.

Name: Mishra Ayrie

Age: 26 (appears 18)

Title: Student Teacher (Black Sect)

Class: Arcane Alchemist

Appearance: Mishra stands at 6' 1" with black-blue hair and pale skin. His constant running between experiments and reagents kept him in top physical shape and he has stayed this way thanks to his personal time being stopped. Given his status as teacher and his talents, Mishra is never seen in anything other than his work clothes. They have been specially treated to not only repel all chemicals but water as well, the only side effect being that the compound turns the fabric it is used on black.

His work clothes consist of a pair of fitted cloth pants, heavy leather boots, a short sleeve trenchcoat and a pair of gloves. Everything is fitted to his size to prevent the pooling of chemicals in the creases. The gloves are specially tailored to fit his claws and are uncomfortable for anyone else to wear. His boots have been treated the most heavily with the chemical repellant so that he can stand in a puddle of the most corrosive acid and the boots will remain unharmed. His trench coat trail is the only part of his clothing that is not fitted, it is meant to hide his tail and to provide additional protection from back splash.

Weapon: Magic, Alchemy

Personality: Mishra is half mad thanks to the alchemical mishap that ruined his reputation for good. He often becomes distracted when talking about alchemy and will go on his own tangents, often a train of thought that leads to an impromptu experiment. Impromptu experiments can happen at any time and any place.

He keeps a nonchalant persona for most of the time but when he begins to talk about anything related to his experiments his voice starts getting faster and more crazed as he gets a wild look in his eye. This leads to him lecturing on his work with no room for interjections. He is known to laugh often, especially in the middle of experiements, as well as talk to himself.

He has no regard for his own safety, being impossible to damage by his own experiments, and also seems willing to take the other students' lives into his own, often giving students his new potions to try in battle. So far nothing bad has happened other than temporary hair and eye color change.

Abilities:

Alchemical Prodigy-Mishra is highly knowledgable about alchemy in every way. He is able to use this knowledge at any time, even in battle. It comes to him easily, almost as if by instinct. Equations are made almost instantaneously and acted on shortly thereafter. His knowledge base covers offensive, defensive and practical alchemy.

Alchemist's Blade: A standard katana style sword. This blade however is not sharpened and is never used for combat. The blade is made of Lunite, a metal that Mishra created and named for its ability to absorb the natural magic powers of the moon. The magic imbued within it combined with Mishra's alchemical skill allow him to create almost any reagent he needs, simply by running his fingers down the three foot blade in accordance with how much of the reagent he needs. It is possible to do it on both sides.

The reagent is collected in a small globe that acts as a container at the end of the blade and floats near the end until used. There can only be six globes at a time. These globes can be combined to mix their ingredients and are completely encapsulated. If an explosion were to occur inside one then the globe would remain intact. The nature of this magic is so powerful that the Lunite must be charged again in the light of the moon one night every two weeks otherwise the spell must be cast again on the blade.

Alchemical Mishaps: Though only a few failures blemish Mishra's record, the results of these errors are malignant enough to have caused severe change him.

1] The first mishap was a change in his gravity resistance. He has a moderate resistance to gravity due to this and would now naturally hover about 4 ft in the air. However thanks to his alchemical brilliance he was able to create an ink that both allows him to manipulate his own gravity resistance and control his own direction while under the influence. This effectively give him the power of flight. The ink has been tattooed onto his back in the shape of a pair of wings, placed perfectly along his spine.

2] Undaunted by this he continued his alchemy resulting in his second mishap. The second mishap effectively transfused feline DNA into his own. The new DNA strand mutated his DNA into a triple helix, bonding it permanently. The new DNA forced a physical change in him. Not only did he gain fangs, pointed ears, and claws but his eyes turned a feral yellow with vertical slits for pupils and he grew a four foot black tail. His senses of smell, sight, and hearing tripled in strength and his reflexes went into lightning overdrive. While he does not consider this a hinderence, others in the scienific community saw it as a major hazard.

3] The third mishap destroyed the flow of time within him, making it impossible for him to age. Mishra is now permanently stuck at the age of 18.

4] The fourth mishap was the most damning of them all. The fourth altered his makeup so that he is no longer solid but a gaseous energy. He naturally assumes his normal form but can make his body solid or vanish at a whim. This change allows for him to pass through solid matter and to be unhurt by physical weapons unless solid.

The only way to damage him in his natural state is use magic or some similar force. Whatever it is though it must be in the first degree which is to say it must be the power itself; enchanted weapons and the like do not work as these are second degree. Additionally this change also made him immune to any further possible changes.

This experiment also left him half mad, ruining his alchemy career though to him he doesn't say he is mad just 'engrossed in his work.'

Magic: With his reputation as an alchemist ruined, Mishra has moved on to magic, considering it an art like alchemy. Though he does not have the prodigious skill he has in alchemy, he is still very good at it and would more than likely be one of the top mages at the academy if it weren't for his preoccupation with alchemy. To date his spell list is rather small but he makes up for it by combining it with his alchemy skills.

Mishra’s Form: Mishra, without realizing it, has transcended reality. He is not just in the space you see, but stretched out across every other plane and possibility of existence. In effect he is everywhere. The downside to this is that to affect something in the reality he is in here on Eureka, he has to draw himself onto this Reality and he loses form on others, sometimes vanishing entirely.
He has become a sort of gaseous energy, able to be melded by his mind and his alone, though he will never be able to grasp this thanks to his fractured mind. Thanks to this state of being, he is immune to any physical attack naturally. However, he can be damaged why he is interacting with anything physically. Otherwise, damage must be done using another form of energy, more often than not magic. However, other energy weapons can also work. However, energy imbued weapons do not, such as flaming swords.

Spell List:
Thunderburst- Lightning magic that radiates outward from a single point in a sphere.

Acid Globe- Creates a large globe of acid that will explode on its own 30 sec after summoning or immediately if someone were to attack it. The acid within is based completely on what Mishra decides is in there and may not even be acid at all but some other chemical Mishra needs.

Chaotic Flames: Creates a series of five fireballs which make an erratic path to their target. There is no definite time to impact- they may all hit at once or in groups.

Kamaitachi Chaser: Creates a globe shape kamaitaichi that follows a straight line. Anthing caught within is easily cut to ribbons. The closer to the center, the more damage.

Ice Pyramid: Summons a single spear of ice that flies at the target. Every second it splits into three identical spears, the same as the first one in size. It will continue splitting, up to 90 different spears. The spears are in a pyramid shape.

Dark Vortex: Summons globes of dark energy whose entropic nature draws foes in closer. The globes will often contradict each other in pulling which can lead to limbs being ripped off. Anything inside the globe will be compressed to 1/10th its original size for every 20 sec it stays within.
Rupture: Creates a rupture in space along any vector that causes bursts of pure energy to spew forth, searing away anything and everything. The bursts follow the vector for as long as Mishra wants it to.

Light Shot: A rainbow spectrum of lights appear around Mishra and streak out at the target. Despite what they hit, they will burn through and coalesce into a single point of brilliant white light that can easily blind those around it.

Geyser Burst: A wall of water rises around Mishra and blocks attacks before joining over him into a watery tentacle that lashes out at the attacker/target. Should it miss it will split into multiple smaller tentacles that attempt to strangle the target.

Rumbling Earth: Causes mini-quakes along the four compass points around Mishra. The earth will burst up, throwing those along the fault lines into the air.

Shadow Spell: Shadowy chains jump out from the surrounding shadows to bind the target and constrict them to a thin remnant of what was.

Sonic Slash: An almost invisible crescent of sound races out at the target with a loud screeching sound like that of nails on a chalkboard that seems to come from everywhere.

Void Return: A portal to the void opens up in front of Mishraand chunks of the stuff between the spaces of the world shoot out. Whatever gets touched by the chunks gets dissolved into is and the chunk gets larger. They last for about 2 minutes before reality banishes them back to the nothing.

History: The son of a small family in a bustling city, they considered themselves blessed to have a son that could make something of himself. He was apprenticed to one of the top alchemists in the capital at the age of five. His first mishap happened at the age of 9 where he gained a moderate resistance to gravity. His master never found out about this as Mishra was quick to remedy it, implanting an ink in his skin which would allow him to control it.

At the age of 13 came the second mishap which left him part cat and his master close to death. Though this accident was his master's fault, Mishra was still blamed for this due to his percieved ineptitude. With his final words, his master left the shop and his finances to Mishra, the closest thing he had to a son.

By the age of 18 Mishra had become the top alchemist int he capital and was recieving orders from around the world. The shear avalanche of work took its toll on him and resulted in him combine two different order which lead to the third mishap which froze his personal time trapping him at 18 and unable to age.

Only 7 months later the fourth accident happened which not only destroyed the shop but his reputation. He was lucky in that the shop had been cleared out for his coming sabbaical and as a result the nearby buildings were not taken out as well. From this point forward he was barred from the scientific world for the extreme consequences of his work.

Unable to get the recognized he deserved from alchemy he turned his mind to magic and found he ws quite adept at it. He enrolled in Eureka Academy to further his own magic and to peruse the extensive collection of alchemy texts within. His reputation preceeded him though but this time it was a good thing. Headmaster Krell recognized his talents and invited him on as a student teacher.

Since Eureka has begun its flight, he has been promoted to the Black Sect and now teaches more classes than he attends them.

Well it seems power levels of characters are going off the deepend:P

But screw it I HAVE AN OCTOPUS!

/me races down the hallways yelling, PRINCE COMING THROUGH AND I AM LATE!! at the top of his mental voice!

Tbh, i think we have too many teachers now. Plus, with that, as FF said, their powers have gone off the rockers with 3/4 if not almost all of them being basically unkillable.

Small wonders how students can survive here.

Well personally i dont think surviving is the problem, the problem is more like "why the hell would someone who is on an equal powerlevel with some small Gods even WANT to spend his time A) elevating people to his own power level, thus creating competition at the top and B) try and explain the greater theories (i assume there are things like that here) that the "mortals" could not hope to understand?

Now i understand Nova could be seen as part of "the problem" in but atleast she has a "good" reason to be here "my boss wants me here to make job offers to and/or keep tabs on people like you"

well i dont mind the character of the librarian gavin posted, it gives faith (my character) someone to talk to :) also on a connected note im going on holiday today so i wont be posting until i get back on the 1st-2nd of april.... sorry for any inconvenience

The issue is that there is a disproportionate number of teachers to students. Now i understand that there is 500 students, but seriously, The only classes that i will host on my timetable is for the player students. I am finding it hard to comprehend and add EVERY single teacher into the timetable.

Do remember, in order to keep the days short so we dont have so many people complaining that they have nothing to do, there is only two "periods" a day. What i mean is periods that we will rp in.

With this many teachers, many of them will be on standby unless their players are willing to let them go off and teach npc classes.

Why do we have so many teachers, anyways? Is it just so you can be more powerful or something?

Just randomly curious... we only need 2, 4 teachers maximum. Any more than that, and we're doing something very wrong, or we have a sudden in flow of like 50 more people.

Just throwing that out there

I kind of noticed too that James seems a bit. . . massive in power level. But its a good thing that the staff are all good guys (as far as we know) otherwise we'd be kinda screwed. :hmmm:
But if possible, the staff positions should probably be closed at this point so we won't have to worry about the number of them building. The only way for the number to even out would be if we were to have a lot more student RPers, which we can only hope for. If any of the staff didn't have any students in their period, they would probably have no choice but to do the NPC alternative method. :mokken:

I already know my character will be interning at the library for one period and another period. . .still thinking on that (as well as if they'll be during the day or night since she's mostly nocturnal). But yeah, if you're reading this, Olive, you should probably limit off the spots now for staff. Not to intentionally be unfair to those that may have wanted to be a teacher or whatever and haven't applied yet, but the numbers are kind of soaring in them .

Well in the first EA, Mishra was teaching an NPC class which just so happened to have Oblivion jump into late. For him its not really the teaching but the freedom to work on what he wants, when he want, how he wants, and have as many test subjects as he wants.

And James... he'd like nothing more than to sit on his arse in Eureka's gardens and watch the sun rise and set. But we all know that's not gonna happen. As for his power... well, it's not like hes gonna be using it to fight unles it is ending said fight.

For me it's a different reason, in EA one i figured i'd be staff of some sort. based on the fact that i have been doing this for about decade at this point...

Figured I'd teach, seemed more logical. And with the continuity established she could hardly go back to doing something else since canon has her teaching... As for my TA, well i wanted him in a related position "close to me" if you will and TAing seemed like the logical thing to do... Also frees Nova up from the boring aspects of the job she farmed out to ATMA anyways (what you expect a hitwoman to grade papers? that -as tony stark would say- "boring order, i am giving you a boring order!")

AHAHA! Like I'm even allowing godlike characters firsthand xD Students and teachers should know that those with these outrageously powerful abilities would need some outrageously high rank (thats right even teachers gettin ranked) if they want to use them. I may have pre approved these bios but it's gonna cost. Happy Nerf Day! ^_^

I would probably cap off staff positions at 5-6 total O__O Does this sound okay Tipsy?

I have a buddy for who we drafted up a professor of engineering char (assuming such a thing exists) but he would be more then fine with not having to teach...

Guy called Arretu, he has an account but his internet for F'ed over by British telecom so he's not really been in a good position to get it posted on here... I suspect his bio will not cause a major problem...

EEHR: Edit, it sounds cool to me. I am more then willing to end up as a guidance councilor or something with no "contact hours" if no-one wants to take my class (i'll come up with some kind of plausible IC reason if required)

I mainly didn't have any characters I wanted to play who would fit the student role. I could try making up something new, I have this idea about a faerie with superstrength.
