Okay, I do not own a PS3, however I will buy it eventually, but can you guys tell me what RPGs for the PS3 I should be on the look out for?

I admit that along with RPGs, I'm kind of a JRPG lover in particular, but I'll try to be open minded with WRPGs if they're sincerely worth looking into.

I already know that I want to get at least:
  • Final Fantasy XIII
  • Star Ocean: The Last Hope
  • Valkyrie Chronicles
  • Eternal Sonata (if I can still find it :hmmm: )
  • And if it comes to pass, Tales of Vesperia when it's localized.
So have any suggestions? :ness:

EDIT: And I'll say now that I doubt I'll get Borderlands. I'm a wuss that can't handle gore >.<

You've got a good list there, particularly Valkyria Chronicles. I'd definitely recommend that game to an RPG fan.

I've not played The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, but lots of people recommend it.

There's a thread here that might be worth looking over: here.

All in all I haven't played many RPGs on my PS3, but me being an RPG fan, I found I loved Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Mirror's Edge, and Devil May Cry 4. I'm not sure if you're willing to stray away from JRPGs, but those games are definitely worth checking out.

Theres Fallout 3 as well, Its got some great reviews, and I have to say (having played it) that if you like Oblivion, You'll love Fallout 3. Probably worth a buy:D

Fallout 3 is a First Person Shooter RPG and I have to say it's absolutely stunning. One of the best games I've ever played. There are so many side quests, places to explore and story is solid. It has great gameplay and you'll get hours upon hours out of it. I particularly like the setting because we don't really have an apocalyptic comparison to make. :ness:

You're in luck as well. They're selling a new version of Fallout 3 that includes the various DLC's included with the main game. Originally, only XBOX 360 owners were able to purchase them and they cost extra. But in the new pack you get Fallout 3 and all DLC's for the same retail price as the original Fallout 3. (about £40 or the price of a normal game).

Hope that helps. ^_^ Buy it, it's awesome :awesome:

Valkyria Chronicles is a good choice. I've heard it's hard to find now, but I might be wrong.

Also, keep a lookout for White Knight Chronicles. Looks like it might have some good online action.

Valkyria Chronicles is becoming rather hard to find, but I might be able to track down Eternal Sonata :hmmm:

The main thing with me is that I like RPGs that are story and character driven. So more linear stuff is what I'm into despite some people thinking that's bad. What can I say? I like seeing an ending xD

So I doubt I'd like Oblivion (and the character design is really ugly >_>)

Honestly, I don't care about online at all. I play games on my own, not with other people. And DLC doesn't appeal to me much either.

Enchanted Arms looks kewl (the character design reminds me of XenoSaga) and I played some of Disgaea 1 and plan to get Disgaea 2 (PSP version, but meh *shrugs*) so Disgaea 3 would be up my alley.

Also, I really don't like First-Person POVs. It's too disconcerting for me. I wanna see the character on the screen, not see things through their eyes >_<

You can play Fallout 3 in 3rd person as well. And the DLC is included to it makes them game longer. :monster:

That's just me though. :)

TBH, I don't know of many RPG's on the Playstation of the top of my head. You might have to wait for more to be released I think. :hmmm:

I'd like to suggest another JRPG to the list as well: Resonance Of Fate.

It does go against the typical conventions of the JRPG genre with guns as opposed to swords and magic. It does have a fast action-like combat system where you may need quick button inputs. From what I've seen of the game so far, it has a really interesting dystopian setting with three main characters: Zephyr, Vashyron and Leanne.

Other than the ones already mentioned, there really aren't many PS3 JRPGs actually. :hmmm:

Resonance of Fate looks pretty kewl actually, but I don't have too much money to spend on that many PS3 games so soon. Maybe when it goes down more in pricing eventually (along with SO4) :hmmm:

I found Eternal Sonata, so that's one game I can cross of the list.

I really have heard good things about Fallout 3, I'm just really squeemish and I can't handle too much gore. If that's not the case, I'll definitely check it out.

I also heard about the following titles:

Last Rebellion
Dark Kingdom
Folklore

Can anyone say anything about those?

I absolutely love Valkyria Chronicles! It's not the type of game you'd expect to be a genuinely great RPG but its got a great storyline and mixes both RPG and RTS pretty well as well as TPS elements.

Not exactly Final Fantasy in length but it's definately worth the purchase to those who want something slightly different. :)

I'm going to get the second on PSP anyways.

The localization of Tales of Vesperia is yet to be confirmed. If you didn't get Dragon Age: Origins on PC, the PS3 version is a good choice. Keep an eye open for Atelier Rorona when it comes out. I wouldn't recommend The Last Rebellion, it's not as good as it should have been. As Fleur mentioned already, definitely get Resonance of Fate.
