Did anyone here use Red XIII as a main party member for the majority of the game? I am just starting to use him at Medeel, since most of my regular members are otherwise occupied. He is only level 43 at this point since I have not worked with him at all. I am sure that is why his attacks are still only hitting for under 1000. I ask because, I want to know if I take the time to get him leveled up, is he a good one to keep as a norm party memeber in your opinion? Thanks!!

I've used red plenty of times, although i usually pick him because i like his character as oppose to using him for his fighting skills. His final limit isnt anything special but he has a few handy techniques, and hes a strong magic user. All round hes fairly decent.
 
I use him quite alot, I just kinda carry on using him after you get made to in Cosmo Canyon. I thought he was a pretty decent fighter, plus I like how he spins round when he attacks, never gets old xD

I'd say, it was just down to preference, you can train anyone up to be hard, so if you can be arsed, go for it. My party usually seemed to have him and Yuffie in it. Although I did try to train everyone evenly, it was him & Yuff I took to take down emerald weapon
 
I use him. Sure, he doesnt do that much, but when he learns better magic, he is one of my strongest characters.
 
Once I got the character, I had him in my party whenever I could from then on. :lol:

That in large part being by preference, but I also find Nanaki to be one of the best characters overall, since he has high strength, is good with spells, and from what I can recall, had high HP.

But even if I checked now, it wouldn't help to see how high his HP is compared to others, since everyone's HP is 9999 now. XD

I find his Earth Rave limit break to be better than his Level 4 limit break Cosmo Memory. Because each hit still deals good damage, and it hits several times (5 I think...) instead of just once.
 
He is great with magic more than attacks and his limits level 3 are awesome i dont like his cosmo memory but he is great ive used plenty of times and to my knowledge in level 99 he is the best magic user in the game.
 
Red XIII was probably my favorite character in the game alongside Cid.

I used Red XIII in my main party about 50% of the time. I swapped him out with Cid throughout the game about evenly. Once I got Nanaki's final weapon and Limit Break and he became more powerful, towards the end obviously.

So yeah, I used him, and consider him one of my favorite playable characters in the game.
 
Hm, I did use him as much as I used any other character.
In my game it was just a matter of preference really, I could easily mold any character into what I wanted them to be so it didn't matter who I used.
In the end I did get everything for him and what not and he's always been at a decent level. He's a great character really. I could easily rely on him to be my support if I needed him to be. So in the end, yes I did use him. =)

I think in almost every play I have had on this game I have used Nanaki in the main party. (I am one of those people who tends to have a main party and a backup party)
 
I mean he is a cool character hound beast thing whatever he is lol :P. But I couldn't really take him serious as a main party character. I just needed human characters in my party. I mostly stuck with baret, tifa and cloud naturally but i would sometimes sub barret for cid cause i like spears i think they are epic
 
Yea, he has turned out very good. Glad I kept him in the group. I have been switching him out with Barett with a constant Cloud & Yuffie.

Early on in the game he got used a lot! Especially by the time you get to Cosmo Canyon, and you can level up pretty quick in there! I also liked the noise he makes when he attacks ^_^

Him Cloud and Aeris i think i was using then. Making sure to get the most of her!
 
Like Busta, I tend to switch out Nanaki and Cid as the third party member I use. I think he hast he best backstory, he's great with both physical and magic attacks, and he's a... creature who speaks! What more do you really want from a great FF character?
 
if it wasnt cloud, yuffie and tifa then i didnt use them. I think by the time i beat the game they had to knock the dust off themselves for the fmv sequence.

Red wasnt bad, but he didnt have a ranged attack or strong limits which was my biggest gripe.
 
I almost always involve Nanaki and Tifa in a party wherever possible, seems to work best for me.
 
I...didn't really use Red. It wasn't that I didn't like him, more like I didn't know what to do with him. He's a good fighter...or a good magic user. But I felt his attack was decent enough that I wanted him up front, but if I put a little too much magic on him, he'd get the floor wiped with him pretty easily. And yet, if you want a pure physical attacker, characters like Barret or Cid can fit that role a lot better than Red. Especially Barret since he's a great tank with fighting in the back row.

All in all, he seemed kind of average, I wasn't sure how I wanted to use him as a character, so I just kept it simple with generally using Aerith and Tifa/Barret.
 
I really like using Red XIII! He's a well-rounded character with very good magic skills and good physical attacks. I also love his story, and Seto and Bugenhagen are cool chracters too!
 
I love Nanaki but I never used him that much. I never knew what role he'd be best at. Some of the characters are pretty defined. Most people don't misinterpret Barret as a mage but I wasn't sure with Nanaki which path naturally defined him. Because of that, I didn't use him much.
