This game is everything I ever wanted in a game before

-Testuya Nomura directing
-Nobuo Uematsu composing
-Kingom Hearts battle system
-Dark setting
-HD graphics

I mean lets get serious this may be the best game ever made!

For real? You actually wanted a game directed by Nomura? To each his own I guess. There's no accounting for taste. Personally I'd rather that Square sacked him, but that's probably just me hehe.

That aside, my expectations are pretty low regarding this one, but I am hoping for the best.

how can it be low?
this game is already seeming SOOOO METALLL!
adwhat'd ya mean "sack nomura" hes the guy that made FF what it is bro :P
FFVII is one of the most popular games in exsitancne (9.8 million copies is just under the requirement for the top 20)

Sakaguchi made FF what it is, and saying anything else is verging on blasphemy mate ;). FFVII was him and Kitase's brainchild. Nomura just designed the characters. I don't like the Kingdom Hearts franchise, and his designs have looked awfully similar since Final Fantasy X, so I find it a bit hard to get overly excited about anything coming from his team.

difference in opinion I geuss :P

(yeah I knew about Kitase and Sakaguchi doin 7, just slipped my mind for a second, I got it confused with the AC staff)

really though, KH was great, in every game I can point out something that could have been better, or things that I hate,
but with kingdom hearts I had fun all the way through, I continue to keep playing today and my only complaint is the disney characters, thats it though :D

This game looks even better then FF 13, Shame they didnt show any gameplay clips or a small trailer even of the game at E3.

I was a little disappointed of this myself!
did they even mention it at all at the Square booth?

I actually have to agree, Nomura is a good director, just not as good with the character designing which has a slightly bad trend. However, Versus has better characters designs than most FF titles so I'm not going to complain, as for the whole who made Square what it is, it's actually the fans, FFVII wasn't as good as what people made it out to be, it just has a massive backing, FFX was far better imo, so saying one individual made Square what it is...is wrong.

Uematsu is a fantastic composer so I don't have any faults with that, I think the battle system is supposed to be a slightly more advanced version of that of the Kingdom Hearts one, so again, fantastic news in my opinion, I like it better than the current Final Fantasy battles systems. Dark setting, which is why it's going to eclipse other Final Fantasy titles (other than FFXIII, maybe) the game setting in general looks better than other titles. HD graphics, that's just standard XD

i hope the battles aren't too outrageous. the advent children style fights are a bit much.

I'm not too sure about it having a similar battle system to KH. It was enjoyable and a change but all you had to do was keep pressing 'X' all the time and you would win. You didn't have to use magic besides from cure occasionally. For a one off it would be alright I suppose, but that's my main problem with FFXII's battle system too, you don't feel involved.

I quite like dark stories and settings as opposed to light ones, but usually when people go out of their way to make something dark, it turns out crap.

I don't really care about the game's music either, great music is a nice bonus, but that's all, it won't effect my overall enjoyment of the game eitherway.

As for who directs it, none of that really interests me, Nomura directed KH 1&2, both of which I enjoyed, but nothing really in the way of FF games that aren't various spin offs.

I'm hesitant about XIII. I love all the things adding together for it, but that stabbed me in that back before. I was super jonsed about Blue Dragon when I heard about it. People behind Final Fantasy, Akira Toriyama, Nobuo Uematsu... what could have gone wrong?

Lots went wrong, that's what.

So, I'm not getting my hopes up just yet. I'm going to wait until I see more. But this game is looking a lot like a hybrid between VII and X, with a slight hint of VIII.

yeah you bring up a good point :D

Good point about Blue Dragon. It wasn't essentially all wrong or crap as such, it's just that it could have been better as parts of it seemed rather mediocre compared to FF games. Then again I didn't think Mistwalker wanted to risk that much effort for a console Japan wasn't really into then.

Nomura is, in my opinion, the only big name in Square Enix left that can possibly do no wrong. Apart from some of his character designs (did he design Vaan or was it someone else?). The KH series was one of the most engrossing games I have ever played- and if Versus can be just like KH but darker, more HD and yet still true to some FF roots, I say that we should hopefully see a real classic since FFX.

Nomura, PLEEEEEEAAAASE don't turn it into a clone of Dirge of Cerberus! That game sucked bad and did not do Vincent any justice! Leave shooters to developers who actually specialise in that area!

And no Devil May Cry or Bayonetta clones with added HP and numbers please!
