What are the differences, if any? I'm unsure on whether 'l'Cie' is just short for "Pulse l'Cie/Cocoon l'Cie" or if it really was something different.

And what about Sanctum l'Cie?

I tried to look all of this up, but the information I encounter doesn't seem to go deep enough. I want to know the root of all this shit. Or need to, rather, since I'll understand it much better that way anyways.

Why am I answering this?

Cocoon L'cie are given foci by Sanctum Falcie and Cocoon Falcie, however they are the same thing, the Falcie on Cocoon are all ultimately ruled by the Sanctum through Eden so its just 2 different ways of saying the same thing.

There maybe some slight difference based on the role the Falcie play on Cocoon, like Kujata at the Power Station.....or Carbuncle in the Nutriculture Complex....and what was happening to causea human to be Branded.

The Pulse Falcie were in the beginning given to dishing out rather harmless foci but as people began to turn away from Pulsian Falcie and move towards Cocoon Society they started to abandon there role of helping Humans.

This is explained in the Text spoken by the Cieth Crystals on Pulse when you take on a Mark Mission........and how in the end humans were branded simply at a whim.

Humans who are branded by the fal'Cie of Cocoon are known as Sanctum L'Cie. The game does mention how in the past Sanctum L'Cies were made to fight alongside their fal'Cie masters against the invading forces of Pulse. And the term "Sanctum L'Cie" is used instead of "Cocoon L'Cie" because the Sanctum is the sole governor of Cocoon, and its fal'Cies are seen as being the true rulers of the world and not humans. This is evidenced by Eden's place in the top echelons of the government.

Pulse L'Cie are just L'Cie branded by Pulsian fal'Cies. The main characters are all Pulse L'Cies because Anima branded them - and Anima is alien to Cocoon. As Pulse is generally feared by the Cocoon populace, Pulse L'Cies are seen as dangers to them because they connote the destruction of the floating world.

It's probably in the FFXIII wiki by now...

I haven't read it though to see if that's the case or not.

It seems pretty plain if you watch the videos Square released about the game and read a little about it.

"The only way of completing the focus and taking out the pulse f'cie, ends up with us dead"..quote from Satz in FFXIII.

Thank youuuu. I was a lot more focused on the basic parts of the story and ignored the details like this to avoid getting lost. And wiki doesn't know what the word 'concise' means, so this was helpful. You were helpful.

Again, thanks. I understand it now.
