I tried logging into the PSN and it won't let me login. Of course, I do Internet connection right? Well it always says 'fail' on the PlayStation network. I do some searching and apparently this PSN is in fact, down and users all over the world are having issues logging in. Not just logging in but can't even playing 'offline' games.
I hear that it's those that have the 'fat' older versions. Which sucks cause that's what I have =/
Sony tweeted, “We’re aware that many of you are having problems connecting to PSN, and yes, we’re looking into it. Stay tuned for updates.”
Some say it could also be due to the calender and how February only has 28 days in the month but all I know is that I wanted to play some UC2 :mokken: The ironic thing is that I just got my mic like a few hours ago D:
They say that it's a 'maintenance' but it wasn't scheduled... let's hope Sony fixes it soon.

At least i know im not the only one D:

Anyone else having issues?

I'll try updating with any info i get.

UPDATE: I also hear that some users are loosing trophies. =/ This... can't be good D:

I doubt a machine that can compute the quadratic equation in .2 seconds would struggle with the concept of a 28-day month. Plus the months alternate between 30 and 31 days anyway, so that doesn't make sense.

*pats trusty PS2*

Niether am I :rage: I just... don't understand what the issue is. All I know is that Sony needs to fix it NOW. :mokken:
and thanks, for the more info Nick.

Yeah, I didn't think it was the reason either but, that's what I heard.

It seems like it's just those who have the older version PS3s. We have a slim and are having no problems at all. Hubby just threw on Fallout 3 to test it, he also was able to get online with no problems either and log in, so...I'm not sure. I can only assume that it must be the older PS3 versions. Hopefully it doesn't affect everyone. That'd truly be terrible. Sony had best get their asses in gear and get it fixed!

Lucky you-- and everyone else that has a 'slim' PS3 >_<. I think it is only the older version of the PS3 and that's what many people have been saying as well. Though I don't understand as to why all o f a sudden it's happening to the older version and not the slim as well. :hmmm: Anyone know?

Sony is aware of the problem and are working on it. Or so they say, the forums are screwy too.

Its been like this since 4pm my time, but for all i know its been longer than that. Thats when i tried to get online and play heavy rain, but i cant do either. I tried everything i could possibly do.

My entire Heavy Rain trophy file disapeared :sad2: I was at 90%!

Also, I can't even start Heavy Rain now. Have yet to try and different game, though. :hmmm:

Apparently, PSN has taken a sudden left turn to crapsville. It could be PSN or it could be a firmware problem. People are being kicked from playing certain games to their XMB (Heavy Rain, for example), the date and time are displaying as 12/31/1999 (Y2K10?), and some trophy data has also been disappearing. The error code in question is 8001050F. If you're concerned about losing your trophy progress, don't play a game with trophies. Go and do something else until the smoke clears from this and the problems are solved.

The only official word we have from Sony is from the PS Blog's Twitter page:

"We're aware that many of you are having problems connecting to PSN, and yes, we're looking into it. Stay tuned for updates."

We'll keep you as updated as we can here, but we're scrambling for facts right now.

Update (8:43 PM PST): Sony just made a couple of tweets. They are posted below.

PSN status update: We're narrowing down the issue and continue to work to restore service to all. Updates as soon as we have them.

PSN status update (part 2): Readers/followers are confirming that "slim" units (120/250 GB models) are connecting normally.

Good to see there is already a topic about the issue as it's quite big of a problem. People all over the place have started to loose trophy data and saved files aswell.
Games that I know this has happened too are:
- Heavy Rain
- Final Fantasy XIII
- Star Ocean: The Last Hope International
- Demons Souls
and basically any other game required a trophy download.

Another thing is that all PSN downloaded content has been rendered useless for quite alot of people, especially games. So guys don't use your ps3's (unless it's a slim) until this is fixed, couse who knows if the trophy data will return or not.

PS. Sorry if this is already posted in this topic, but felt like I had to just post it up as fast as possible.

Well I've had no problems with it because...like my fellow ROFL cat would say...."I haz a slim PS3, suxs to be you" :awesome:

JOKING!
Oh well, even if I couldn't log in to PSN, I have my hands to play Lost in Nightmares-RE5 expansion like again and again and again and again :awesome:

Killing zombies and running for your life never gets old :awesome:

Nick was telling me that he was having these problems last night. This is quite the cock-up... Ouch... I hope they do sort this out as soon as possible.

I'm not sure whether to turn my PS3 on and save all my game data to my memory stick just in case it all goes kaput... Or if it is better to just wait until the problems are fixed. I won't be playing a game in the meantime as I'd rather not mess it up...

So they better get it sorted out soon, but I can imagine they are stressed to their eyeballs right now.

It's good to know that Sony is fully abreast the ongoing problems in their online service, PlayStation Network. Earlier, they reassured their loyal customers that they are aware of the problem, and that they are working at getting it fixed. Now, we get information that that said fix will be arriving this coming morning.

After a whole day of complaints tumbling about the Internet, it's now been known that only the original "fat" PS3 models are affected by this problems. The Slim models work perfectly fine and appears to be immune from the error code: 8001050F.

Sony's technical support now tries to placate everyone by telling them that the fix will be coming in the morning and that you won't have to mourn over your trophies of save data because they'll be fine as well.

Hopefully PSN will be up and running and back to normal in a short while. Hang in there, guys

I think this is a hurray!

We’re aware that many of you are having difficulty connecting to the PlayStation Network this evening. Those of you with “slim” PS3s (the 120/250 GB models) appear to be unaffected.
Know that we have narrowed down the issue and have engineers working to restore service even as you read this. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, and genuinely appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this.

I don't appear to be having any problems, though I have the Slim as well...this is the first time Ive turned my PS3 on in 3 weeks O:

This is poor poor timing for those of you struggling to get on what with FFXIII right round the corner

That's good to hear.

I do trust they'll be able to sort it out, and that they are working on getting it fixed soon is a relief really.

If this is true then I should be able to play my PS3 by end of the night (when I usually go on). I might wait until other people here have tested it first though... Just to see if the coast is clear. :wacky:

Does this affect me?

-If you have a Slim PS3, you're good to go. Continue playing it as normal.
-If you have a "fat" PS3, you may be affected. Some fat PS3s have worked ok, but it seems a good majority have been bugged.

What does this bug mean?

-If affected, your date and time has been set to a random past date. This prevents you from signing into PSN, playing any PSN games, or using any DLC. Your trophies will also not display correctly or be able to sync.

How do I fix it?

-You can't. Even if you don't sign into PSN, it won't help. This is a hardware issue.

So, what do I do?

-Wait 24 hours. Other products that have had similar bugs have corrected themselves after the "bugged" day. On Monday around 6pm central time, all PS3s will automatically correct themselves...maybe.

-If that doesn't work, we'll need a firmware update from Sony, which should be a pretty important priority for them right now.

Did I lose my data/themes/etc?

Your save data/games/dlc/themes are fine. They'll be fixed when the PS3 is fixed. Trophies are uncertain right now, but they'll be fine if you've synced them before the PS3 was bugged. Unsynced trophies are an unknown right now.

If I have a bugged PS3, can I still use it?

It's probably not a good idea, as I have no idea what will happen to the trophies you earn during the bugged time. Movies/media will work fine.

Possible Soultion:
The going theory is that the PS3 is storing some form of date in GMT, then modifying that to get whatever you see in the on-screen clock. That modification process seems to be fine--the system can take 2/28/2010, 9PM GMT, add four hours, and get 3/1/2010, 1AM random time zone.

What's apparently effed, as speculation goes, is when the internal GMT-tracking rolls over to 3/1. It's either not rolling, or rolling to 2/29, at which point a system tries to add/subtract from 2/29, which it can't do because the front-end calendar doesn't have a 2/29/2010, and shit explodes. Seemed to happen around 4PM PDT, which I think is 12AM GMT, so.

And the PS3 launched in 2006; it's hit 4 2/28s so far. 2007 and 2009 were odd-numbered years; 2008 was an even, and a leap year. 2010 is the first even non-leap-year the system's been around for. If some sort of base-level math is choking on itself, it may have ruled out the odd 2007 and 2009 successfully, but is convinced the even 2010 is a leap year (this part I'm less sure of, but is why leap year could theoretically come into play at some point.)"

:hmmm:
It should be working sometime today well, according to this guy.

If that is true then I'm glad they are on their way to sorting it out, and I hope either it rights itself soon or they produce a patch to sort this out.

It's quite an embarrassing problem, though mistakes happen and we can't beat them up too much about it.

I'd be more concerned if all our consoles had broken forever, but it doesn't seem as if this is going to be the case.
