Well the title pretty much said it all, here are a few of mine:

Rage Against the Machine performing Bulls on Parade on Saturday Night Live

Metallica Performing Nothing Else Matters at the Big Day Out

Suicidal Tendencies - Institutionalized

Metallica - One

and of course

The Avalanches - Frontier Psychiatrist

Frontier Psychiatrist is a brilliant song (I love The Avalanches) and has a wonderfully daft video :)

Great minds think alike! I was going to make a thread like this today. :)

I'll just post the one vid up for now though.

Peter Gabriel - Growing Up (live). This guy really is a god of the big stage and great ideas!

My friend just showed me this performance on youtube;
The Who performing My Generation on the Smothers Brothers show

Lulzworthy

Dangerous perfomance by Michael Jackson

Best Live Performance ever.
If you see a better dancer than Michael let me know. It's never gonna happen.*

Went and saw 3 Days Grace in concert back in late September in a nearby town here in Pennsylvania. Usually the performers for any group don't sound nearly as good live as they do on their albums, but 3DG kicked as. They literally had the whole crowd jacked up from all ages.

I've been watching some Abney Park live performances on youtube recently and they really do put on a show!

Sleep Isabella. I think this one may be a dubbed live performance that they've used as a kind of music video, but I could be wrong. Sounds very much like the actual song and sound quality so could be. (Yes they are dressed up etc and everything looks grand for a live performance... but that is their image, and they do that live as well).

Herr Drosselmeyer's Doll. This one is definately a live recording.

I love the steampunk atmosphere these guys create.

Apocalyptica's cover of One is really good.
Some of Children of Bodom's songs live are good.

Come on, how can someone have NOT posted this yet?

Can you get any more iconic? Brings tears to my eyes every time I see it.

Or any more Epic. The people who made rock and roll the way it is now.

Aha, I was looking for this thread! I've finally found a live performance that blows me away, it really just ticks all the right boxes for me, and I think that the live version sounds better than the studio version -

Stevie Nicks really lets loose here, and it's by far my favourite live performance of Rhiannon.

This one is easy for me. I am going to go with Linkin Park - Live in Dallas TX. I can't remember the exact date, but this was one AMAZING show. Their video put out was also outstanding. I don't know how he got his voice to get this high, but he did it. Chester and Mike are two great performers when it comes to being live. Here was my favorite song they did, it was getting close to the end and Chester went insane.

Linkin Park's Live In Texas concert dvd is awesome.
Nickelback's Live In Sturgis is pretty good too.
I don't have a video to post but there are probably a bunch
on youtube for anyone that wants to look.

Sisters of the moon live - Fleetwood Mac. It's a totally amazing performance, especially around the 6 minute mark when Stevie totally loses it and starts shriek-singing and starts singing in tongues O__O

Live Performances:

Hands down.
In the second video Slash comes in. And then he doesn't want to leave the stage. It's funneh :D

@ Mark your video of Rhiannon doesn't work for some wild reason.

To be honest I'm not the biggest Steve Vai fan, but this is exceptional. Even though this is almost 10 minutes long, I've been listening to it over and over again for the past few days (something very rare for me to do).
