If a talking cactus told you, in a dream, Square Enix would publish Pony Friends 2 fifteen years ago, what would you say? Think about that while digesting the news that Square Enix USA is releasing Pony Friends 2 on February 23.

Eidos published the original Pony Friends. Since Square Enix owns Eidos now they picked up Pony Friends 2 and are publishing it under the Square Enix brand name. Other Eidos developed games such as Just Cause 2 and Kane & Lynch 2 are getting the same treatment.

Are they serious? Who is gonna buy this?

Well...there are little girls who still like ponies, so I guess its not a bad idea. Just wish they wouldn't waste their precious time trying to bring back such a foolish looking game, tbh.

You'd be surprised at how many adults actually do like horses and ponies and like playing these type of video games. Just because you might not find it all the interesting, doesn't mean that another person won't. Not to mention as you said younger children gamers may find this fun as well. Who knows. I personally see no problem with it. *shrugs*

It's personally not my type of game but hey-- if they want to release Pony Friends 2 let them. It might seem a little like a ridiculous game to you but someone else might find it a god game so I say go for it :monster: If I was younger maybe but it just doesn't seem interesting IMO. I never found games like this to be entertaining but like I said go for it SE =P

One good thing has come out of this announcement. I now know what to get my 9 year old cousin next time it's her birthday. I know she loves ponies and horses, so this should be a great gift for her. :ryan:

This shouldn't really come as a surprise to people, because it's not the first time SE has published a kiddy casual game. They did it before with My Pet Shop so it's inevitable that they would publish more of these games. I have no issues with this as SE can do whatever they want as long as they're still making new RPG titles back in Tokyo.

It is weird and rather amusing however to see SE's logo on the box of such a game. I certainly wouldn't have ever expected this from Squaresoft 15 years ago.

I have to admit, this took me by surprise. I know SE are talking about westernising titles and making more titles that are more western but this seems a bit "out of place" as it were for Square Enix. But then again, it's an Edios developed game and Square Enix will be merely publishing it so it's not as it seems I guess.

Each to their own though, personally I wouldn't bat an eyelid at it but if it's the second game of that series (w/e) then the first one must have sold at least half decent.
