So the first reviews for Pokemon Black and White 2 are up and I am pleased to say I am very happy with the scores it's getting.

Heres a link to the IGN Review:

What do you guys think? Will you be getting it? Have the reviews changed your opinion at all?
I know a lot of people were doubtful about it because Black and White 1 were not really that impressive but I dunno, I'm very excited for these sequels :ohoho:

I actually enjoyed the first games of the Black/White series and told myself I wouldn't be buying any more pokemon games after that but the reviews of the sequel make it look so tempting. I just might get it. I've never seen a direct sequel to a pokemon game and the region has become one of my favorites in the series apart from Hoen. Soooo yuh I'm totally gettin the new pokemawnz :megusta2:

I actually really liked B&W too, but I know a lot of people had very bad opinions of it...
I am so glad B&W2 will have over 300 pokemon to catch and you can even catch pokemon from gen 1 - 4 before beating the Elite Four unlike the first one.
That was my biggest complaint with Black and White. Not enough pokemon to pick from :mokken:

Oh I heavily agree! To be honest I wasn't too find of my team in Black or the choices I had to pick from so the expanded pokedex is awesome. I'm a poke completionist at heart so that habitat system is going to come in handy for catching. The only thing I'm kinda wary about is the medal system. I don't think it's necessary. But everything else seems awesome. I'm glad that particular review mentions some of the renovations of the Unova region. It would be fun to go through it again with fresh feel. ^_^

I really don't trust IGN reviews and almost never look at them, but I will say that a version 2 is going be interesting. The first pokemon games to have a real sequel to them, I mean usually we get 3's out of a group, but this... I will have to wait and see on... Could go either way, but granted of any of the story or the new pokemon. It will be another pokemon game, and for some reason they seem to never get old (granted I haven't played one since... Gold/Silver, but I will once in a while pick them back up just for old times sakes)

IGN reviews are about as reliable as Famitsu reviews this days; this score is probably just the result of the reviewers seeing the Pokemon logo attached to it, rather than any real critical or objective thought.

I still don't know if I want to buy one of these. I have no expectations for the story - given that the original's story was pretty much the same as any other Pokemon story; that is, bland and not really there - but I DO like the look of that tournament mode. If I end up buying it, it'll be out of curiosity and the need for a new handheld game, rather than because a reviewer who is probably paid to say that certain games are good said that it was good.

9.6 is a ridiculous score for a game that, fundamentally, hasn't changed since the very first version came out, and from what I've seen on Serebii, doesn't have anywhere near as much content in it as HeartGold and SoulSilver.

I kind of disagree with you there. Black and White was the first Pokemon game to actually present a story that was interesting. I wouldn't really call it "bland" since it finally addresses the issue of children enslaving pokemon and forcing them to battle(something I find hilarious and ironic in the pokemon universe). I also disagree with the story being the same. The story in Black and White is immensely different from past titles. That's not to say the goals of the main character have changed(Travel to gyms, obtain badges, beat the elite four, etc). However the story in these games at least make getting to those goals a bit more entertaining.

As for the score, I completely agree with you that it's too high to be trustworthy. Sure it hasn't fundamentally changed, but the series at least tries to make up for that with other features, and what nots. Heartgold and Soul Silver does have more to explore and battles and gyms over 2 regions. :hmmm: I personally would like to see a pokemon game where you could travel to all the regions.

Many have tried to convince me not to buy the new Pokemon Black and White, but honestly? I've been waiting for this for a long time. I didn't have the money to pre order it at the time, but I might be getting it for my birthday next week.

As Martel has mentioned in other threads about the topic, the grinding was EXTREMELY tedious in the previous Black and White, even in the double battles you still got very little XP out of the wild pokemon battles, making leveling a bit difficult for me. The gyms were, however, very interesting puzzles to solve and such. And, as mentioned before as well, the tournament mode seems interesting.

So have any of you lucky Americans picked up a copy yet?

I have to wait til the 11th :(

I have a few friends that got it early but I don't really care about it enough right now to get it :hmmm: I could get it right now if I wanted to but I'll wait because I don't have the attention span for it right now. Played the Japanese version briefly and got to the second gym and the game is good but I will wait.

Ugh I'm waiting until Tuesday so I can buy it tax free on a military base. :hmmm: From what my friends who have it already have said, it's really fun.
