So I've just started replaying this game. I love the Active Time Events they add a new dimension to the storytelling when you're walking around town.
I spent far to long skipping rope at the start lol I've just reached the Village of Dali.
On a side note I wish Blank was a playable character later on :/

I usually spend way too much time with that damn rope too. I can get to about 100, but can never get past it. After about 10 minutes of trying, I usually just give up at that point and advance.

I started playing this game again the other month. Decided to buy it through my PSN and have it on my PS3 :3

Sucks because my original game has had disk 4 missing for absolute years. It's vanished into thin air, I've looked everywhere....

Anyway, I gave it a break after playing through the game and not really grinding much... First time I played this I managed to do quite a bit, and that was back when the game was released, can't remember how old I was :P On disk 4 at the moment and I've just got my golden chocobo and stuff. However, I'm dying to get Ark again, but Ozma is a little outta my league at the moment. I need to look up how to defeat it again, seeing as how I was killed after a few turns. Where would a good place to grind be? I've already gotten a few dragons down outside Daguerreo, which give out just over 8,000 EXP.

FFIX is one of those final fantasies that is heavily character driven and their back stories all fleshed out. Garnet s one f the main female leads no I think is brilliant. The active time event as said in the op is completely unique ad it adds a distinguished originality to predecessors. Accompany this with mognet and all the chcobo based games, FF9 is one truly brilliant FF :)

I love Final Fantasy IX. Great story, great backgrounds on the characters and the ATE are so cool. The jump part...I do the same..try to do it but then give up after a little bit.

So far FFIX is the only FF game I've been able to play a second time and manage to not get bored. It just has that charm to it that keeps you coming back for more!
If only the battles weren't so slow :(

I really love the Active Time Events too! They're really cute and give you a different look at the characters and their personalities without forcing you to do it if you do not wish :griin:

Hahha, I loved ff IX the most of all that i've played, and the jump rope was sooooo amazing! I once got to about 129, but I've not been able to get that far since.... sadly....

FFIX is absolutely one of the best ever. That rope was mean to me :( Lol I could never get past 6 jumps! Then one day my baby brother tries the rope and gets to 22 jumps. I don't think I'll ever get that many jumps :/

I've went to play through this game so many times, but always find myself getting out of the Petrified Forest to he world map and getting pulled away by something and being busy. This sucks, because there's so many parts of this game I want to re-live and watch again. I'll hear someone talking about Kuja, or Queen Brahne, or any other character involved in a killer FMV in the game and instantly all I can think of is popping in FFIX and starting from scratch at the beginning.

Thanks, now counting down the time when I can get my hands on a Playstation again and start playing.
