Note: not a "who do you always use?" thread, though such content can be included.

Thanks to a revolutionary development in Final Fantasy, characters can be switched out whenever the player pleases with whomever the player wants. I've always utilised this fully and, on every play through of the game, have used every single party member in every single battle, so as to level them equally as quickly and evenly.

Do you do the same?

I'm going to predict that this strategy will become redundant by the time characters start to overlap their third or fourth sphere path because there'll be no need to switch in another character to use another ability. However, for the average player, who does not have the patience nor determination to complete the entire sphere grid, would you recommend doing as I do? If so, then why and, if not, then why not?

I always switch to every character during a fight. I HATE not maxing everybody out on any game. It does take a little bit longer but it helps with bosses such as
Seymour
and
Yunalesca
(Wasn't sure about the spoiler tags xD)
Anyway I always do this as it help you have an evenly matched party and it's always a pain if your 'main' team dies and you're left with your terrible team and no Pheonix Downs and stuff. (I did it when I was younger though)

I always do that at first, but when it comes to - Id be training in the Omega ruins switching everyone in and out, but when it comes to deleting nodes and replacing them, you realise youstart to favour 3 people, especially as some spheres are hard to come by or a pain to farm, like luck spheres and stuff. Also it's just to time consuming

I levelled everyone up evenly but I deleted that much stuff, Lulu went from being maxed out to pretty weak again so basically, I ended up with super powerful Wakka, Yuna and Auron to moderate Rikku & Tidus to weak Kimhari & Lulu. I could easily boost them up again, it'sjust the effort required to farm the spheres needed thats a pain

So yeah, I DO do that at first, just, my min 3 end up taking priority

See you can call me old school but i've never made full use of my party. My average team will consist of 3 characters, Yunas always there also on the side but shes never as strong as the other 3. I can see the advantage of having each character strong, for instance. It would make battles easier, when one party member gets weak you can switch them out without having to worry about whether the replacement can handle themselves or not. I just cant find the time to train my characters, i like to mince my way through the story, and having to bulk up all the other characters would take too long.

I find that using the same three characters is easier than using all of them. I tend to enjoy getting three characters stronger so later in the game i can use one Strong member and two weak members to level up my weaker characters Quicker.

when it comes to the harder bosses, such as Yunalesca and Seymour Guado i use my Aeon's Overdrives dealing massive amounts of damage with minimal damage to my party members, and considering Bahamut has BDL (break damage limit) without the need for a celestial weapon it comes handy against them. Also Yuna is normally one of my three main characters so my Aeon's are powerful

I level them all equally but I don't switch them out of battles. I will take 3 of them and get them to the next step in the story line, then switch them out to the next one. I also keep an eye on the sphere grid to see how close they are. But I always keep my levels the same for my chars in any game.

I use all the parties members during battle so that I can level them up but it only works if I actually use them during battle. Most of the time I usually switch between them when my main party (Auron, Yuna, and Tidus in this case) is low on health especially during boss fights. I end up taking out my stronger fighters and end up switching with my weakest character for doing that. They maybe my weakest but they can still get the job done for me anyways because of that tactic.

I would so reccommend this to any beginning or even average player. It helps when a character is low on health, or when a certain player has a skill the current one does not. =). It comes in handy oh so much. <3.

By the time you acquire majority of the spheres you don't need to switch out...unless it's for overdrives. =p.

Yeah I'm more "old school" as well and only really use 3 characters. But I try and use all of them. But I prefer Tidus, Yuna, and Auron

In the actual game I did that -training everyone evenly- but when you reach the point where to complete the game you just have to beat Braska's Final Aeon, I just stuck with 3 or 4 characters in battle when doing sidequests. For example, when capturing monsters, Auron, Tidus and Wakka were my main party.

I always tried to get every character in on the action if the battle was going to give me some good AP in the end. If it was just a regular battle against a Flan, I would just defend twice and then have my 3rd character hit it to knock it out. Otherwise, if I'm close to knocking out a boss, I would bring in my un-used characters to defend a few times to get their action recorded, and then once again just deliver that final blow to knock out the character.

I love the 'swap out' addition in this game.

I'm with Busta on making sure I switch out when AP will be a big factor. Other than that I'm more selective about who I use in battles. When I'm roaming around and not involved in a big story section of the game, I try to switch out a lot so my team won't be underleved... like when you're forced to use certain characters over others.

But when I'm in the middle of a big plot point, I stick with just Tidus, Auron and Rikku unless I need backup... but there is an exception, I try to keep all unused party members in overdrive mode. So I switch to them when necessary to accomplish that.

I tend to switch up the characters just to get them all stronger and get exp for each of them but i really like tidus auron and yuna.

I try to switch character to get them all equal, but I always find myself locked with Yuna, Tidus, and Auron, the most typical team in FFX.
They're my most powerful characters. I would switch out Auron and Tidus for LuLu or Kimarhi, but I can't switch out Yuna for another, her aeons are just too powerful for me to resist summoning them.
