Well, as we all know, in One Winged Angel, there is a choir singing, but, do any of you know what it actually means? Is it in Japanese? If so, could someone please give me a translation? Thanks

Google is your friend, call in from time to time ;)

Anyways...It's in Latin. I think this is right, theres quite a few translations doing the rounds.

Not sure, I think it was just a good idea to them I guess. Possible Apocolyptic battle, great god like creature....fuck it let's do it in latin.

What I do know though is that the lyrics are taken from Medieval Poetry.

That's correct, they are taken from sections of the Carmina Burana cantat by Carl Orff. The same cantata that the lyrics for O Fortuna were taken from:)

Here is the Advent Children Version, written by Tetsuya Nomura himself-

Thanks for this, I was trying to apply the first lyrics to Advent version, I knew something was wrong:huh:

Don't you think Japanese singing would've sounded just the tiniest bit retarded in a Classical song?

No, I don't think so. If it's a Japanese game, one might assume that they might sing in Japanese

Actually I could imagine a Japanese version working, though it might not have the gravitas of the Latin words.

I'm actually surprised that Tetsuya Nomura took the time to create a Latin set of lyrics for AC's One Winged Angel. Clever clogs that guy!:)

Isnt there like 4 versions of Advent Children? im pretty sure that i heard that my friend download 4 differnt versions of it that i think were created but Tetsuya Nomura. Not postive on that but ill take a look on Wiki perhaps to find out how many there is exactly

4 Version?! I don't think so, unless you're refering to Last Order as well. Or downloading three different language versions

You know. I kept wanting to look up the lyrics to this song but never did. Lol thank god I looked at this topic or I woulda never found out.

Are you sure? ill have to ask my friend about this again cause he said that he downloaded 4 different versions..

Gee, honestly, i didn't even know there were lyrics to this song. I thought it was more of apacella style? (As in no lyrics-only tune type?)

Acapella means the opposite- all singing, no background music:)

Yeah of course there is singing in it, I haven't heard a version without singing I don't think. You sure you're thinking of the right song?

It depends on how you class 4 versions.
I would probably agree that there might be 4 versions but they all very similar, there is nothing that dramatically separates the versions. Only the Black Mage's version stands out above the rest. You have:

One Winged Angel
One Winged Angel by the Black Mages
One Winged Angel - Crisis Core

There might be more but they are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

But a fair bit of FF is Latin (like titles for instance).

The only versions I know of are:

FF7
The Worlds Enemy (Crisis Core)
FF7:AC
Kingdom Hearts

Wait a second.... That is four, I really need to start paying attention in Maths

One Winged Angel

Who here like's O.W.A?

Thats a marvelous tune in FF.

I like the rock/metal version that was in FF7: AC in Cloud and Sephiroth's battle. Can't find it anywhere though. D'oh.

I do. My favorite one is the AC version, although the lyrics are different.

I admit that OWA is one of the only few songs with lyrics that I actually like. It's also my favorite character theme song, if you wish to call it such.

It's a very powerful piece.
