Yea, I guess if that were the case, also, they did say (Don't remember if it's an actual line in the manga) that Luffy always knows who he has to fight. The only part of it that repeats is that Luffy's usually the one to take down the "final boss", but if that were a case for criticism of repetition, might as well slam all shonen anime![]()
lol, I know what you mean, Skypiea arc really got on my nerves especially Enel, he really annoyed me.This was me a year and a half/two years ago. I could barely get past the first fight with Buggy, and later on when someone on an old forum I visited insisted that Enel was the most amazing character of all time, I went and did a lookup on the guy and well...edged further away from the series.
Then I gave it my third (or fourth or fifth?) attempt at reading, got up to Arlong Park and HOLYSHITEVERYTHINGWENTUPHILLFROMTHERE.
It was mediocre/bad when I made that last post. It hit utter shit level when Aizen started having more transformations than Frieza and Cell combined.
I lol'ed.
This. Everyone in the crew's gotten a flashback/background (I find it especially fascinating that Luffy was the LAST of them to have such a flashback) and Oda just about never seems to forget characters (seriously, the number of times Makino, Buggy, Kaya, and all the other early-arc characters pop up, to say nothing of the occasional "what's going on in Alabasta" moment is amazing).
Yea, he doesn't forget about them, since they all serve a part later on, so it's really not good to neglect them and then they show up out of nowhere.
In fact, I think the only detail Oda's since completely ignored/faded out on is the fact that none of the crew has the X-mark on their left forearms anymore.
Didn't the X-mark on their left serve it's part, I know they only drew it on their hand to prevent getting tricked in Alabasta's arc. That serving it's purpose, I don't think it's needed anymore, iirc they only drew it with paint so it can be easily washed out.
