Do you have any favorite characters from any Final Fantasy game that stick out in your mind as really interesting characters, even though they play an incredibly insignificant part in the story?

I have two:

  1. Blank from FFIX. I loved the character. He's one of the first characters you see and he ends up getting petrified in the Evil Forest very early on... you don't see him again until later in the game where he rescue's your hide from danger. And again, from that point on... he really doesn't influence the plot ever. I still like him though.
  2. The other is Mr. Coates from FFVII. If you don't remember him, he's the black guy with silver hair that works under Dyne in Corel Prison. He wears a green jumpsuit and has a big gold necklace. Barret threatens him until he allows you passage into the Chocobo Race. I just think he looks cool

Blank was awesome, and he looked really damn cool, too! He immediately came to mind.
Biggs, Wedge and Jessie in VII were very cool, and I thought Don Corneo was hilarious.

I have to go with Blank on this one. I really wanted to use him as a character throughout the game.

General Leo from FFVI, someone else I wish was more part of the Team you lead and get to use.

Yup i Tottaly agree with blank, i kept expecting him to join my team at some point, he was a cool character.
Lagunas another one, although the dream world is a total pain when playin through FFVIII i just love this character, much cooler than squall.
Also FFX remember the guy who is the chocobo knight? but you can advise him to be a chocobo raiser. Damn i cant remember his name. I know it sounds stupid saying he sticks in my head when i cant remember his name, but he does.

Blank and Laguna definitly come to mind. I always thought it'd be nice if Blank and Ruby had thing going on...

I quite liked Genral Leo aswell, I wished he could stay in my party.

Fuujin+Raijin. The posse was my favourite part of FF8. Forest Owls were entertaining, aswell as Zell's library girlfriend. I found that subquest to be cute.

Vossler (FF12) comes to mind - but I just thought he was hot.

There are a couple of memorables in FF7 - Don Corneo, Mukki, Joe the Chocobo racer :wacky: At one time, Zack would be on this list too - but now he has his own game <3

FF4 had various people coming in and out of your party - so I don't really know who counts as a one-hit wonder. I personally remember Edward the Bard vivdly, because he was such a pansy :P

Man, I have a few of these, but the names all escape me because, well, they're one hit wonders.

Anyways- Cissnei plays a pretty sizeable role in CC, but I absolutely adore her.
Hippo Paul from IX made me laugh my ass off every time...but just because he was an out-of-shape Hippo child.

I also thought most of *Fran's "sisters" were pretty cool, not that they were given much to do. That whole race is pretty interesting despite them being harlet bunny chicks.

I think my favorite would be Sir Fratley from IX, though. Despite his random amnesia, he still kicks some serious tail. (Pardon the pun.)

As a last mention, there were a lot of cool random characters in XII, like Judge Gabaranth and Reks. I also liked the look of Al Cid, even though he got on my nerves more often than not.

Last edited:
Cid from IV. Quite the joker, he literally lightens the mood whenever he shows up.

And Fratley. I was hoping he could join the party too. After seeing how he helped chop up some Black Mages at Cleyra, I couldn't help but hope he could join the party... Tsk, it seem he didn't anyway.

Al-Cid from XII. I would have loved to have him in the party. His personality was sinister, without being evil.

Barthello from FFX somehow gets stuck in my mind especially whenever he sees Auron because he gets all excited and wants to shake his hand. Even when Dona got kidnapped and he was panicking about it, Auron was the one who was able to give him advice to continue searching for Dona.

I always loved Ellone from FFVIII. She had a very nice sense of style and warming personality which is why she was an important character in the game even though you only see her in Squall's flashblacks and such.

I liked Blank as well. But then again I liked the entire Tantalus troupe. I've always liked that fight at he beginning of the game where its Zidane, Blank, Marcus and Cinna vs a masked Baku. It always bothered me that you could get Cinna's hammer, yet he never permanently joins the party to equip it. I think I'd enjoy a game made just to play out Tantalus adventures, maybe without Zidane since he kinda left them early on...

for me it's Elmyra from Final Fantasy VII, she really made an impression in me with her sad backstory,it was a pity that we didn't hear from her anymore it must have been so sad for her to lose Aerith.

Ah, I forgot about Ellone. Yes, I liked Ellone too. She worked pretty well in the storyline, despite being a sort of role-filler character. She actually got more development than some of the main cast.

I liked Mikoto from FF9 as well. She provided a great contrast to Zidane and Kuja.

I dunno if this counts, but I always sort of adored the Beoulve brothers from FFT. They were sort of central to the storyline so... I don't think they count. But still, Zalbag! I loved him the most. Agrias was pretty badass too, in fact... now that I think about it, she sort of reminds me of Lightning from FFXIII o__O

Wow, Mikoto is a great reference. I'd completely forgotten about her. You learn about her so late that she was pretty much out of my mind before she ever got a chance to settle in. I never really got a feel for her as a character. She appeared to be nice to Zidane but you never know if she was being manipulative, afterall she's the Angel of Death that never really got a chance to shine.

True, she didn't really do a whole lot. I dunno, I think I just really got into the whole Zidane-Kuja conflict in the game, and Mikoto sorta added to the whole "twisted sibling" situation. But yeah, she really didn't have much of a role. She added to the whole idea that Zidane treats everyone he meets as if they were family. Difference being was that Mikoto (and Kuja) actually was his biological (?) family. Can't say much else to justify why she made an impression, she just sorta stuck in my mind. *shrug*

If there were any one-hit wonder characters I particularly disliked, it would probably be those twins in FFt. Not for any reason, other than they, really really sucked balls in battle. I always got removed them from my party :monster:

Vossler for sure, he was great. But in all honesty, I would have traded Zidane for Blank anyday, Zidane kinda got on my nerves just like Vaan and Tidus did

Wow it seems I'm not the only one that loved Blank. He was by far the coolest character in FF9 and I was really disappointed that he never joined the party. I would have loved to have more of his story incorporated into the plot.

Apart from Blank, who was actually the only one to sprang to mind straight way, I will go with ...

FF8: Ellone, Xu, also the jogging guy in Balamb Garden (why? You ask. Cause he was cool >_>) lol.

FF9: Blank, had to say it again.

FF10-2: Definately Gippal.

FF12: Vossler, Reks; Even though you play Reks at the start I would have liked him to be in it longer. Mont Blanc as well, why can't you play as a moogle dammit!

I dont know if I can say Laguna, I loved his character, but he was pretty pivotal behind the scenes in VIII

Ultros, I love him, he had NOTHING to do with the story, was just nice comic relief in VI.

General Leo as well, he was very noble and had morals unlike Kefka

Blank was cool and all, but I found Baku much more interesting, he was tough on the guys, but you could tell he loved them
