New Thread for trailers

Imo it would be better if there was a thread specifically for movie trailers at the Home Theatre. People can reply etc. So a Trailers Thread (stickied)

Perhaps have a sub-forum dedicated to trailers? Are there enough trailer threads to support this? Perhaps a less complicated solution would be to merge the trailer threads with threads talking about the movie on a whole.

A sub-forum for trailers
There anyone can post a movie trailer an anyone can reply.
I am suggesting this because its hard to find the trailer threads amongst threads which are just talking about movies instead not showing trailers at all.

I am a huge movie freak and I will post interesting movie trailers as long as I am on this forum. This is my part in this.

A sub-forum seems better than a sticky thread. (at home theatre even the stickies are a bit messy imo lol )

I think the way it works now should be fine. One thread per film, and all related discussions to that film, including trailers, should be posted in that thread.

Rather that than having a clean-up and forcing extra moderation.

Well, as much as I love the idea of having 1 thread with a bunch of trailers instead of a bunch of stand alone threads, this could prove to be difficult. For starters, with the stand alone threads, people can simply view trailers of the movies they think might be of interest to them, and disregard the others. That in itself has its pros and cons, though I'm not sure if the pros outweigh the cons significantly enough.

And like Mark said, I'm not sure we really have enough trailer threads to warrant their own sub section. I see that you Ohri and Kandy are the ones who put up trailers a fair amount, but only the occassional trailer here and there, otherwise. It might be too much effort for something that ultimately will be the same to moderate.

I will talk to Warbs and some others on staff to get their thoughts on this.

But there's no need for them to do extra duties if they're not necessary.

This is also a feedback forum, so I'll give feedback on whatever I like. Also, "already tired"? I've never spoken to you in my life...?

Having a whole sub-forum dedicated to trailers is a bit unnecessary. I think the current system is fine. Trailer threads and discussion threads should just be merged as they are essentially the same topic. Also if a discussion thread is created with no trailer in it, can't you just watch it on youtube yourself?

I have to agree with SaShman here. I think the whole idea is unnecessary --- both the thread idea and the sub-forum idea. The current system works fine as is and so far I haven't picked up on any problems with how the trailer and discussion threads work together. Maybe if it becomes a major concern we'd put more weight in discussing this, but right now I'm leaning toward leaving the system as is, to be honest.

Thank you for the suggestion, but at this time we will not be adding another subforum strictly for Trailers.

As for reasons, I'll do a point by point:

1) Currently we have an entire section devoted for movies, and it is two subforums down from the main section: Home Theater. If we were to create another subforum it will make the section a little messy cosmetically when viewing it via forum navigation.

2) This subforum is not as frequented as much as other sections. To have a subforum based of another subforum would need a large majority of folks interested in movies in general.

3) Personally if we were to do this, gaming trailers would be questioned as well, and we have an index for those.

4) Though what we can do is create a thread Index for you to make it easier to see if a specific movie trailer exists. (no posting, mod updated only)
