As of recently the FFF has become quite large and we seem to get a lot more guests than before browsing our forums and the result has been troublesome.

Me and several other formers have been having trouble as we get messages like the server is busy and we are unable to do anything till on or two of the guests have left or someone logs out and leaves.

This is a matter of the Server unable to take everyone on at the same time so I suggest a new server. I know that that takes money and everything as I do know a bit about this sort of stuff but the matter is FFF has reached the size where it needs a new server and its either handle the problems and complaints of people getting kicked cause the server can't take it or upgrade.
 
I haven't heard of people complaining about a busy server for a long time. I, personally, haven't had the annoying "server is busy" message for a long time. And it's not as bad as it was before, when it was appearing every ten seconds or so.

Besides, even with a huge server, you'll still have the occasional server is busy message.
 
Yeah I know but recently its becoming quite nasty.

I only jsut managed to get back on as I've had the message every time I tried to get on the last hour or so and even when I got on I was kicked again for a while. So was my mate Ancient.

I'm sure I'm not the only one getting the bad end of the problem thought but you got to admit we have become quite a bit larger recently.
 
@Artemis - The fact your Junior Admin/Global Mod might have some influence, no?

To be honest this is the only Forum I have been into and received a "Forum is Busy" message. But the explanation can be on the Board "VBulletin" as the big foruns I always went were either Zetaboards or Invisionfree.

It doesn't bother me that much to be honest.
 
I remember that happened all the time about a year back you literally couldnt log in at all. Ive been pretty active lately and i havent had any server busy messages, so i dunno whats up with that
 
There was a topic on this made earlier during October. But I have also gotten this which is really annoying when you want to do something.
 
I don't know why, Mark, but moderators seem to encounter the problem much less frequently than the regular members do. It's something that I'd like to look in to but, unfortunately, I can't see LG moving us any time soon, given that he doesn't want to upgrade to the newest vBulletin. <_<

Oh gosh, I'm sorry. You're right. Admins don't get a "server is busy" message, and I'm assuming that the privilege also extends to Junior Admins xD

I haven't seen many people complain about it though, so I'm assuming that it wasn't as bad as it has been. I'm sorry I can't be any more useful on this topic x_x
 
Priority
You Moderators have a higher priority the regular members. This means that when half of the members have Server is busy only one or two of you will have it.
 
Hmm about the admins and junoir admins.

The server probably prioritizes you guys so you don't get it as you are more important to the server and the forums.
 
If you want a server change then you'll probably have to wait a fairly long time, LG is the only person who can do anything about it and since he has a lot on his hands, don't expect one any time soon. All being said, I haven't had it once since it happened a long time ago (Admins do get it, just not the message), so I'm presuming it's only affecting some members and not others.

Again, LG will be the one who decides when it will be beneficial to change the server, and I'm more than sure he is fully aware of what the server can be like at times. But until then, sorry, it's pointless creating threads about the server when no one other than LG can do anything about it.

I am aware of what it looks like and that it happens. I've seen the message before. :wacky:
But like I said, until LG decides otherwise, there's nothing we can do. :monster:
 
The busy server is gettin really annoying!!!!!!!!! to be honest how come does it happen!!!!!
 
In short it happens cause our sever is to small to handle the amount of ppl on the server currently and some ppl don't get data loaded to ther computers and so they get that message.

This often happens when there is a large sum of guests on doing nothing.
 
It also can occur when other sites are sharing the same server, and when large files are posted accumulate.
Ex. 1
3 sites on one server you would have the data of all 3 affecting the amount of members allowed on the site.
Ex. 2
You have over 10000 members but half are inactive. The half that is inactive will still count to space even though they don't come to the site anymore.
 
I've had this problem twice now in the past few days, but a lot of members and guests were on at the time, so it's understandable. Like Mercurial has said twice now though, there's nothing anyone here can do about it atm.

As long as it doesn't get to where it's doing it every couple of minutes, it isn't too much of a problem for me :monster:
 
Yeah, well, crap happens, and like things have already been said, there's nothing we can do about it atm.

I think the guests are how our glorious leader earns his money. Guests and members = total site views which in turn = profit.

So any banning of guests would be bad for LG's profits, and since the server can't be changed without LG's permission etc we're all stuck.

Furthermore wouldn't changing the server lead to epic delays etc and the site being down for everyone, which would have a significantly larger negative impact then the status quo.

And I like to point out that I haven't once, in recent history had the server busy notice, and I assume many others haven't either, due to the factt that so few people have posted in the thread. Most being d'lain saying the same thing and the staff replying the same way.

Tl;dr
It's effecting very few people, and greater inconvience would be caused by changing server.
