S'up? Obviously I just joined this site and this is my introductory posts so hey-ya!
I've been a fan of Final Fantasy 7 for a long time, back when it came out in 97/98 for the PSX. My copy came from the first production run (that doesn't have the 'greatest hits' label on it) and therefore has several translation errors (mainly Aeris' dialogue) and the use of the Sh-- word quite a bit. (Cid said too many that I didn't bother to count, Barret said a few and Cloud said it once - special dialogue requirements needed )
So with that said of my love for Final Fantasy 7, I really am pleased that it was expanded in to a series. (Tho personally, as soon as Before Crisis is translated, the I'll be contempt with my fandom that has lasted over a span of 10 long years)
How I came across the game itself is actually a very funny story since no one told me about it, and I vaguely remember one commercial saying about 'there's always the reset button' in the background and not really paying attention.
I just got my PSX after it being on Layaway for several months in 1998 and as they were packing it away since I made my last payment, I looked through the game rack and mainly the 'New Arrivals' .... so I picked up one that really didn't tell me much... c'on vague white background with a building and some dude with a huge butter knife on his back? And the back description didn't say much either that stood out.
So I put it back on the upper shelf where I found it and continued to look towards the bottom shelves, not quite happy over a selection then all of a sudden:
*SMACK*
That one game that I looked at before on the upper shelf fell and hit me (on the corner) on the head. I could have put it back, but I looked at it again.
I didn't think at that moment, and added it to my purchase and went home.
I played on my small 12 inch TV/VCR set (at times with the headphones in the A.M.) all through Friday, Saturday, called in sick from work on Sunday, skipped school on Monday, and then again on Tuesday claiming transportation troubles.
Who would have thought that I still love the story to this day? It's strange on how things turn out, huh?
