New FF players

I tried to get my boyfriend to play 8 ater a girl at his work lent it to him. He didnt get pass the first FMV. He said he was too busy to play it, but Im not sure.

I tried to get my Uncle into FFVII a good few years back now, he went out and bought a pre-owned copy of it. However he just didnt get it at all, complained that I made him waste money then went back to play Tomb Raider or summit... Sigh!

I think the point is you either love turn based type RPG's and 'get them' or you simply don't. Or you simply wont give them a chance (I hate people who slag off rpg's but have only tried one and probably spent a max of 2hrs on it)

If your friend is into GTA then I would start with 12 so he won't have to deal with the Random Encounters which can be frustrating for newer players.

i always try to convince my friends that FF games are good games, and all they ever say is "IZ DAT DA GAME WHERE DEY STAND THEYRE AND ATTACKZ EACHOTHER LULZ!!1!". i try to convince them that theres more to them, like the storyline, and gameplay, but they often laugh at me and call me a nerd. oh well

Yeah, people make a lot of bad press when it comes to RPGs because they only think of battle systems thanks to in my opinion games such as halo and gears, and cannot sit through an FF game because the graphics aren't 100% realistic and they don't have voice actors or there aren't any guns etc etc. If someone actually played an FF game from start to finish without any cheats or anything I am sure they would change their minds, the only ff game any of my friends play is DOC because of, you guessed it, guns.

Strange haha..i tried to do the same thing. My uncle is also hooked on Tomb Raider games!

I have never tried to get someone to play FF, it was a fiend that got me into it. If you were to meet me in real life you wouldn't think i was the type for FF, infact quite the opposite. But for some reason im hooked to these games lol..

I've gotten my Brother and a couple of friends into FF way back in Secondary School, all started with VII and now big fans of the whole seires. I've got a drinking buddie who big on games and likes Final Fantasy, but he's never played anything before VII so I'm going to lend him my FFVI for PS and see how he gets on with it and hopefully he'll want to play the other 5 at somepoint....

I tride and succeeded. My goal is to make everyone an ff fan. I bored them to death to play this game.

Convincing fellow gamers to play Final Fantasy games is a great way to support Square Enix. I would love to do so. I would love to make my gamer friends Final Fantasy fans. I can also influence audience members to play Final Fantasy games by performing Final Fantasy music pieces (especially Final Fantasy X pieces). If you are a gamer parent, would you want your children to play Final Fantasy games one day? I would do so if I were a father. I might get my nephew to play Final Fantasy.

This is my first post and sense i could not find the intro forum (because i am such a noob) i decided to post here. I was the one being convinced that FF was great stuff. i started out on FF9 which was great for me because of the amazing background art and drawings, plus the characters were great. After this i went to 7 8 played 9 again and went on up through. i am currently addicted to 12 and am going back to x-2 for another go around with them. im glad i was started on FF i love them and lookforward to 13 on my ps3.

new players

yeah anyone who believes they like rpg's must of played a final fantasy the king rpg series

I never DID get my ex into it, we split up not long after, oh well, Im sure Il find another victim eventually :neomon:

Haha, I tried to get my 50+ year old dad into FF, and it totally worked. I think I started him on FFX because he absolutely loved the graphics and the characters, so he played it through and liked the story as well. He likes reading fiction novels, so to see something play out like that on the big screen just made him finally appreciate all the gaming I did way back when. :P

He also played a bit of FF12, but didn't like it because of how boring it became for him. I can sympathize. :P

Got one of my friends into FFX, and he loves it. He bought XII, and he takes the mick out of it. Muppet hasn't played enough, and he annoys me whenever he goes on about how lame it is >_>

I personally started with FFVII, and I just kept going and going as each new game came out. But the more I played the newer games, the harder it was to make myself play the older ones. In fact, I love the new ones so much that I just had to force myself to play FFVI. XD

Make your friends start with the older ones!

Got my best friend into FF7 when we were like 8 years old and hes more of a fan of them than I am

Well...I got my brother to play a bit of Final Fantasy shortly after I got into FFVII.

I won't take too much credit, though. He spoke of trying Final Fantasy out before I began playing myself.

Ah, I got my 12-year-old half-brother into Final Fantasy. xD Actually, he tried to play FFVIII first when he was only 8, and I had to read the text out loud for him while he played. That didn't last long though.

Then a couple months ago, he saw me playing FFIII on my DS, and he played for awhile, but eventually quit because I kept overriding his file accidentally. >.> So then on his birthday, he got FFXII Revenant Wings and he was very excited about that. I still have to play it, but at the moment, he won't let me play it until he finishes the game for fear of me overriding his files again. xD

So yes, I'd like to think that I influenced him.

Both my exs already played it before I met them. Ive tired to get my current boyfriend to play, but sadly he isnt that interested.

Theres no-one else sadly :(

My little brother used to play all of my games after I finished them, so he started both VII and VIII, but didn't finish them. He said they "got too hard." BUT he went on and finished Tactics with level 70 characters and thinks it's one of the best games ever. I personally think Tactics is, though one of the best, one of the most complex games in the series, but it was his first one and he mastered it. He also has Crystal Chronicles and beat Tactics Advance. But he still won't play a numbered Final Fantasy. I don't understand him.

A group of my friends tried to get another friend into Final Fantasy because she was tired of not knowing what we were talking about. We started her with VIII because I think it's, while good, one of the simplest in the series. She still hasn't finished it, but she claims she likes it. She's a little confused about the Junction system, but a lot of people are.
