Are these in order from Oldest to Newest? because I can see some definite improvement as you go along.

I have like tons of sigs I have made before these, but none were good. Any yeas, the are pretty much in order.

I could never make something like that myself, but I'm really not a fan of anything that looks like what you have at the top. The bottom ones look pretty good though. (The Lion King made me lol)
Oh my, they're very nice.
I see a lot of grunge work, I'm always a fan of that. I see the colors flow nicely and the light sources are fine but I would advice you to stay away from fade in borders, maybe its just me but meh, they never sit all that well with signatures.
Ya know, even if your signatures are lacking text, they really don't need it, and perhaps that's a plus. Ya can make a signature look good without text, well done. =)
One last thing, I see some of the stocks are a little blurry, a good signature starts with good quality images (I've been told this so many times x.x;; ...); but that's all. I'd like to see more soon. <3

I'm not impressed. I've seen some really sexy GIMP tags and none of them look like this. In half of them I can't even tell where the stock is or even what it is. All of them are lacking the basic elements of a tag: light, depth, and colors. The later tags are less eye sores to look at but you still seriously need a lot of work. I highly recommend reading tutorials before just throwing stuff together and hoping that it looks good because right now it really doesn't.
You really need to watch the way you word your criticism. I'm not going to tolerate you going around telling people "you're not impressed". I've seen a lot of this bullshit going on lately and quite frankly I'm getting a little tired of the harsh criticism. We HAVE RULES regarding how you can give constructive criticism and insulting people doesn't fly with me. Enough is enough out of the lot of you doing this or I start handing out infractions. Keep in mind, not everybody here are art students and alot of this is all self-taught.

She's actually self taught as well, but she understands where you're coming from, Kik. And it isn't necessarily about being an 'art student.' It's more so showing people that there are greater limits to worth learning about.
There is nothing wrong with the way hes going about things. Just because your more experienced dont go shooting people down. Theres nothing wrong with trial and error whatsoever. Sure tuts are great but a good mix of both is needed. You know everyone has to start somewhere and comments like this from folk like you really dont help a person it knocks the confidence. If you really want to help try being a bit nicer when ur typing out your words from atop your throne.
Anyway id say your definately improving mate. There is a big improvement from the first few tags youv posted to the last ones. LIke previously said try looking up some tutorials, it is probadly the most efficient way of learning new techniques and ways of working a tag. Keep working hard

I apologize for being "harsh" but in all actuality I don't think I was all that harsh, nor do I think I was knocking anyone's confidence, nor do I type from a throne. I type from a wooden chair that has no cushion. I got to where I am today by self teaching. And honestly, if you think what I said was harsh, you should all see where myself and Autopsy came from, where every other comment was "fucking sucks." and "what the shit is that?". That didn't deter us from becoming great artists, nor did it knock our confidence, so why should what I said do that?
Yea. It honestly isn't even about knocking people down, even it may seem that way. But we're used to comments that are about 20000x worse from people who both made tags and didn't. We were dragged through a lot of BS, and that was very necessary in order for us to make things worth keeping in signatures for months at a time.
That also applies to life as well, not even involved with art.
Even if you do something 'just for fun,' know that if you put it out into the open, you're basically making an agreement that its open for anyone to comment on, regardless of if they're into what you create or not.
Not to mention that the 'harshness' so to speak, also gives you much more of a back bone to handle things that people throw at you IRL and online alike as well.
That also applies to life as well, not even involved with art.

Well I'm sorry you're all used to comments such as that, but on these forums we critique people kindly and constructively and don't say things that'll bring them down. We also post with a little thing called respect for the artist. We're not this other forum that you came from. We actually treat our members decently here.

If we're just going to candy coat the critique with "these are lovely!! keep up the great work!!", how do you expect them to improve? They're not.

I'm sorry but I'm sure you were never any GFX god when you first started out. It's called a STYLE and eventually people learn to improve their style with more work. Comments like that were highly unnecessary and you know it. We don't work that way here. Give crit, that's great, but telling somebody that they're shit really doesn't look good, does not fly here at this forum. You have a lot of work to do. Try googling "GIMP tags" and try and see how people do it. Follow tutorials. Look up terms. Ask questions. Get better. The end.

There is no correct art, what looks good to one might be ugly to many. I don't think what was said was too bad. Though Color typed a lot and didn't really say anything. Where the problem I think lies. If you're going to say it looks bad, add some direction as to how the style can develop. It's very easy to say to use tutorials. Though you're not doing you with tutorials, where the true creativity is.
