As soon as you find out
Sin is Tidus' Dad
He wont shut up about my old man. Is this like a really bad translation error? cos it got really annoying after about the 200th time of hearing it.

Why couldn't he just said Dad, Father, even Pop would have been different!!!

He says Dad a few times too, but calling someone "my old man" is a more American way calling someone your Dad. Like "my old lady" is used to describe your mother.

So no, it's not a translation error, and I didn't find it annoying either really...

Well I suppose it'd be too much of a faff to suit the British market, but i did kind of wind me up a bit. Even calling me Jecht would have been alright!

Another of my friends got sick of it too, so I'm not the only one. maybe?

To be honest I didn't really notice how many times he said it, I took it all in my stride and just found it part of the script...so no, it didn't really bug me whatsoever. :wacky:

what you have also got to remember is that Tidus was forced to grow up without his dad in the picture, and when jecht was around he never spoke to Tidus so they didn't really get to bond with him. i believe that the term 'dad' is also a small sign of affection and with Tidus not being very caring when it comes to his father so he wouldn't really call him dad. but then again all the stuff i just said may not make sense so just ignore it, hehe

No that makes sense I guess. It was just something that kept coming up, and i can still remember it now so it must have been repetitive. Still think he could have just called him Jecht, cos some kids who don't bond with their parents call them by the first name.

But this seems to be the case on here, I find something annoying or talk about something and no-one seems to agree! :neomon:

Maybe Im just not a very tolerant person?:wacky:

Oh no, it annoyed me as well. Tidus didn't have the guts to say Dad because he really hated Jecht.
Tidus did say Dad like two times in the whole story =)

Tidus reffering to his dad as often as he did got anoying but for the fact of calling him "My old man" it didn't really make a difference to me.

some people could have been annoyed by tidus calling his dad my old man but most people were alright with it anyway tidus calling jecht my old man is more dramatic and just sounds better for the story then calling him pop dad or by his first name

anyway what i think is i want to shoot tidus and take yuna for myself he doesn't deserve her

I agree.

However the fact that Tidus always resented Jecht could be why he says my old man instead of father or dad. Saying my old man is very different from my father, so by not using dad or father they are stressing how much Tidus doesn't like his father.

Agreed. That's what I figured as well since the term "my old man" isn't so personal or affectionate as "Dad". Usually whenever I hear someone refer to their dad as "my old man", they are not in good terms with their father. But that's not always the case, of course.

Anyway, it didn't bother me at all. I thought it was different, yes, but no biggie.

It never really bothered me when Tidus said "my old man". And I agree with others when they say that "dad" is a more affectionate term then.

Also, I think "my old lady" is suppose to be more on the lines of lover than your mother, since the few times I heard that, it wasn't about the dude's mom o_O

Yeh that really pissed me off how he was always said old man! i agree with you so much example
Sin is my old man
dat really anoied me:mad::mad::mad:

Does it really matter?

But any way. It did kind of get annoying but it's not such a big deal. I usually call my 'old man' dad. Like Aerith said it's more American to say 'old man' but then again...Is Tidus' American :gasp:
