Naaah spaying a female cat isn't cruel. If anything it'll relieve her and she'll mellow out. I grew up around lots of cats so it truly is best to get them spayed. At the animal shelters around here if you go to adopt a kitten or cat, they request that they be neutered/spayed before taking them home. They also pay for those fees as well which is nice for the adopter.
