*GASP*

Sorry, I got too excited >.>
Anyway.
MHP3 is due to release this year, along with the Felyne Diary spin off (August).
Just by watching the video:
- Felyne fighters have remained along with new features currently available to the ChaCha (MH3), boomerang weapon and dancing. Also you can bring 2 fighters during a quest. ChaCha could possibly be in it (note during Rathian's roar).
- New attack for Gunlance (flip + reload + slash) which can be linked with a shelling attack.
- Two new maps along with some MH3 ones added.
- Naruga Kuruga and Tigrex are the only classic monsters shown, possibility of others not returning including MH3 ones.
- Possibly new attacks for MH3 monsters (note Gigginox/Giginebura's backflip poison attack).
- No details of a medium bowgun or customisation system.
- IIRC that cliff from MHF1 is back.

Confirmed:
- Felyne fighter combat/AI has been revised.
- More emphasis on graphics and sound quality.
- A better communication system is added (probably making use of a keyboard/PS3/microphone on PSP).
- Infrastructure support added.
- No underwater combat, it is to remain exclusive to MH3.
- The game is situated in Yukumo, an oriental village.
- This is a start from scratch, much like MH3 no savefile continuation from MHP2G many new features will be added.
- Felyne fighter armor/weapon can be customised/upgraded adding more depth and attention for them.
- There will be less content (quest wise, which should reflect upon the amount of armors/weapons created) than MHP2G (currently holding the content title, if you exclude Frontier).

INFRASTRUCTURE MULTIPLAYER

Discuss.

About fucking time they add in infrastructure multiplayer. -__- That's something that really should have been implemented a long time ago. :mokken:

Although, I'm really excited about this one. :yay: Though, I'm going to have to practice up a little bit. :hmmm:

This, along with Phantasy Star Portable 2 is going to make for some epic gaming action. :jess:

I hope they include a targeting feature in this one, I found it so damned awkward to hit things in Freedom Unite...

I can't say I'm overly keen on the MH series - mostly because of that lack of targeting - but Tri on the Wii looks awesome, and who knows, with the PSP version the third time might indeed be the charm. Its something to keep an eye on, at least.

HOLY SHIT NEW VIDEO

IT'S FUCKING GLORIOUS

HOLY FUCK IT'S A RABBIT
OH MY GOD IS THAT AN ARMADILLO?
BACK THE FUCK UP, THERE'S A FUCKING BEAR IN THIS GAME! AND HE CAN BACKFLIP! OH SHIT OH SHIT

OH GOD WHAT HE GROWS SPIKES AND ELECTRIFIES IN RAGE MODE HOLY SHIT WHAT

Here are some pictures of some of the weapon classes, the Monster Hunter PSP and some new assets that I found today on the Capcom official website.

You all know how much I personally love Monster Hunter. It's literally one of my favorite games of all time. So, although I know you hate me for constantly teasing you with MH games that are Japan only, I still get giddy like a school girl when there's new stuff on anything Monster Hunter. With Portable 3rd releasing in Japan in just a couple of months, there are all sorts of awesome things happening that you hunters will be excited about.
First, if you haven't seen the new trailer, go watch it.
Second, next month, there will be a Portable 3rd demo on the Japanese PSN. The same demo that TGS attendees are able to play on the show floor.
Third, MHP3rd is getting a special PSP bundle. The PSP 3000 has all sorts of custom tweaks just for hunters. Longer battery life, a custom theme, and best of all an improved analog stick. The PSP itself has Monster Hunter art all over it, and even has special speakers that look like Felyne paws. <!--more-->
Fourth, there's all sorts of new assets from the game. Check 'em out below.

Here is the link with the information about Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.

You like Metal Gear Solid. You like Monster Hunter. You’re just about ready to explode with joy, then, at the latest Solid Snake shenanigans in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.

The January 22 “MGS: Hunter Eater Operation” event is the second in Capcom’s cross-over series. According to
Andriasang, Successful completion of the event quest awards players the capacity to craft MGS 3: Snake Eater-themed Equipment.

Female characters can acquire The Boss Series (swoon!) gear, while male Monster Hunters will have access to the Snake Series.

The first Metal Gear Solid themed event, MGS Solid and Liquid, is available now to those with Japanese PlayStation Network access, and has as its prize the Solid Cat Series, which is apparently Felyne armour.

Monster Hunter Portable 3rd is the PSP version of the Wii’s Monster Hunter Tri, and will release outside Japan as Monster Hunter Freedom 3 sometime this year after selling a gazillion copies in Japan. No word on whether we’ll see Konami crossover events on local PSNs.

Thanks, Joystiq.

Not to miss out on the hardware bundles party Sony’s got going on, the company’s announced with Capcom two new bundles for Japan for Monster Hunter: Freedom 3.

Called the “New Hunters Pack”, both bundles will come with a PSP-3000 and a copy of the game. The bundles will come in two ways: a white and blue Jinogre-themed PSP pack and a red and black Tigrex coloured PSP.
Both bundles will launch for ¥19,800 on February 10.

Capcom announced yesterday it had shipped 4 million units of Monster Hunter: Freedom 3 in Japan, which makes it on course to be the biggest selling game of FY2010 in the country.

Thanks, Siliconera.

Capcom has shipped 4 million units of Monster Hunter: Freedom 3 in Japan, just a month after it launched in the country, the publisher’s announced today.

The series has now sold 17 million units as a whole, with the latest in the series now set to become the biggest selling game in Japan of FY2010.
Last month, Capcom said it had already shipped 2 million units of the title following its release.

No western releases for Freedom 3 have been announced by Capcom as yet.

Right Stick Camera Controls Added to PS3 Monster Hunter

Official site opens for PS3 revision of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.

The official site for Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD has opened with confirmation of a major new feature for PS3 players. According to the site, the PS3 version will use the Dual Shock 3's right stick for camera controls.

In the PSP version, the camera is controlled using the d-pad, causing people to use a "claw" grip to keep their fingers on both the analogue stick and the d-pad simultaneously. The change to the right stick should make camera controls more comfortable for most players.
The official site does not say if the camera controls have actually been made analogue or if the d-pad directions are just mapped to the stick.

Also confirmed at the official site, PS3 players will be able to actually play co-op with PSP players. This is done through Ad-Hoc Party.
The site also confirms that all the current and future MHP 3rd download content will be playable on the PS3 version of the game (with some exceptions).

Capcom has uploaded a higher resolution version of the trailer we shared here earlier to its YouTube channel. View it here or at YouTube.

Yeah, the lack of a second analogue stick really does make things a little hard for developers when they're making games like this, and the "claw" grip really does sound uncomfortable to manage. Playing it on a Dualshock 3 controller would definitely feel more natural. The graphical update looks good, albeit nothing state of the art of course, as it looks a bit PS2-like in graphics based on the trailer. I do wonder whether we'll see this outside of Japan considering we haven't even got the original PSP version yet I don't think.

The PSP Remastering thing though, has got me excited. I've a whole list of potential PSP games to "remaster" for the PS3 - Final Fantasy Type-0 and the two Valkyria Chronicles on it to name a few. I would totally squeal with excitement if they do that and give me an excuse not to purchase a replacement PSP machine. :britt:
