Missing Madeleine

I read about this story on TIME magazine.
Yes, I am very sympathetic to the parent's plight, but also critical of their behavior for leaving their children alone, even if they did just go out to eat in the restaurant just across the street, and even if they did check up on the children every half hour.
But then again, we're all just human.
And we can only sympathize right now.

I am part of the philosphy that people go missing all the time. Kids are abducted and murdered so what actually makes one of the mass media cases? I mean they are all terrible and heinous but why is it once in a blue moon celebrities will put in rewards then what starts is a whole media mess with footballers trying to get spotlight attention(if you know david beckham thats all he does) to "ask for the child back" as if people are more impressionable to has-been football stars.

Every one of these cases should be treated seriously without the need for celebrity faces all over the news, the money Richard Bransons throws in is nothing compared to what he's got or what he'll get back by people thinking "There's that Virign airlines, Branson was so nice when that little girl went missing lets buy those tickets."

I just find it strange and dissgraceful that when 1 famous face pops in, the news is reeling in them and suddenly everything becomes an overblown frenzy than a hunt for a missing little girl. I honestly do not think any of them actually give a damn about the girl and only about getting their caring face on TV.

You know what else gets on my tits. When the news reports come in indicating you should only care because the girl was British. If she was mexican it wouldn't have even hit the Uk tabloids never mind the headlines and celebrities.
Headlines like "Plane crash in greece, 250 dead. 5 OF THEM BRITISH!!!!!!"
Britian and American are extremely bad for it, thats why I don't watch the news and only heard about this now.

Ahhh, I like you. I agree with you. I just think the missing 4 year old girl is blown out of proportion. Of course if I was a 4 year old African American girl from Queens, NY was kidnapped it would only make local news papers. Sure it's sad but not my problem.

Sorry, but I don't feel bad for parents that leave their kids out in the middle of nowhere for hours. If your going to have kids then TAKE CARE OF THEM!!!!

Blame the parents then, but dont blame Maddie for her parents stupidity. If you dont feel over this case because of this poor child, then to me you honestly have no soul. Yes its not your porblem, but at least pray for this child to be returned safely.

Here is the offical link to the Maddie site, Ive sent my support.

i personally dont think that she will be found, but it is kinda strange that the twins wernt taken. Madeline wasent taken for the "Baby trade" as the people who took her would have taken the other two. its an odd case.

Think about it though. Could the man really have taken 3 kids, all by himself, in the middle of the night? It would make him look more suspicious, and if those kids awoke, they probably would have started crying, bringing unneeded attention for the kidnapper.

But he could have had accomplices? But yeah, they would have been spotted. Plus I still think the parents are involved somehow. I cant shake the feeling they had something to do with it. I hope Im wrong and Maddie is found safely.

the parents do seam dodgy.
and in an interview the father was saying how they wernt pertically religious but they found going to church a comfort, and the next moment they are meeting the Pope?
and also they dont seam too cut up at the fact maddie was abducted. i know they say that they are trying to be positive for the remaining kids but still... they just seam a bit too normal.
oh and if it was for the baby trade they would have taken the twins rather than maddie because maddie was older.

You never think that anything will go wrong on Holiday do you? You think everything will be fine? That's what the McCann Parents thought and left the children in the appartment with other children, checking on them every so often.
Personaly I think that Madeline was watched because it seemed all planned.

true but it was the parents fault. they were in a foreign country and they shouldent have left their kids on their own!! even if they were checking up on them every 30 mins its bad parenting and its their own damn fault!! they were asking for trouble!

Okay, now my time...
I'm from Portugal, like Jimmy, and for over 27 days (I believe that today is the 28th day since her missing) I've started to get full of it, in the first 2 days it was like "Yeah, whatever", but now is like, "Get this **** out of the air", as I noticed more than 75% of the time of SkyNews is abou Madeliene, and while that, tons of children have gone missing.
I believe it was SkyNews that made a interview about that, and showed people from Portugal that had their kids missing, there was a woman that her son is been missing for more than 5 years, and now, one of the friends of the woman showed to her a site in the Net where was her son, and imagine this, it was a porn site, she went to the Police and showed that, and the Police didn't do a thing, because of Madeliene. So, we forget our people, we focus only on Madeliene, and SkyNews still makes us look bad.
Man, and at the school I've talked about it with some friends, we all share the same feeling. And why? Why is Madeliene so important? Is it because she isn't from Portugal? Because 2 years ago, a Portuguese went Missing in Nederlands, if I'm not mistaken, and it wasn't that big deal, and still the guy appeared after 3 months, and now we have a girl missing from other country and all Europe, after 28 days, knows it.
Man, get real.

I really hope the little girl is okay but the fact that her parents left her and her siblings alone is incredibly irritating. Leaving a 3 year old and two 2 year olds alone is irresponsible and, from what I've read, it sounds as though that wasn't the first time they'd done it. Ridiculous.

Its been over a month now and sadly Maddie is still missing.

Can I just say to those who are fed up of hearing about it, shame on you! This is a scared 4 year old girl in another country where she away from family and friends and wants to go home to Mummy and Daddy. Yes children do go missing everyday, but I believe that there has become such a massive news broadcast becuase of the stupidity and idiotic behaviour of her parents.

well said!!

evry1 blames the parents, and i know what they did was iresponsible but i really feel sorry for them. They made a mistake and their gonna have to live with that the rest of their lives if maddie is found dead, which is something they dont deserve. i just hope shes found safe.

I do agree that SkyNews openly criticized our police and they made us look pretty bad, when in fact no other missing children moved so many police force members and such a strong search.
And it is unfair that when portuguese children go missing the police does pratically nothing about it but let´s not forget that on this case we have the British press and council pressuring our police so you can´t really blame them for moving half of the police force to find her.

That being said perhaps with the disapearance of Madeleine maybe now the media, the police and the people in general will start paying more attention to the subject of missing children and that´s what matters really!

Surely i don´t think the pope would bless every parent that had their child missing but think about it this particular case might be what we just need to alert the general public to this situations!

I can only still hope that Madeleine still appears and returns to her parents...because in the end all of these children who go missing are innocent and have NO BLAME at all...

The Search for Maddie.

It's inevitable; we'll all have heard about the Madeiline McCann story by now. I'm not making this thread to ask for support in the search, however; we are in the debate forum, afterall.

What do you think of the actual story? Do you think that Kate and Gerry might have something to do with it? Do you think that the Portugese Police have acted sufficiently or thoroughly enough? Are Kate and Gerry being framed?

Here's a reminder.

I think the whole 'thing' is dodgy, the parents might actually have had something to do with it.....

What im really annoyed about, is the over publicity of the whole affair, come on, was she the only child to get kidnapped, like ever? Didnt think so, im not heartless, but milions of childeren are dying in other countries.......arghhh, who cares? im sure those close to her do, but its their business.....
And the Portugese police probably did all they could, but of course they will never be able to deliver to the publics expectations, because of the massive media hype....
*sighs*
In the end it just comes down to a small child that was kidnapped, and yeah it is sad. But its not like it doesnt happen everyday, but somewhere else....

It's the way they went about it, they acted all very "concerned" and posted posters everywhere, if people have seen her, something wasn't right to begin with. We're just so concerned about Children we haven't looked at the otherside of it until now

This should be merged with the other thread about the subject. Get your two cents in on the whole story too.

~*merges*~

Anyway, yeah, the journalists and newscasters the United States over are just slamming the Portuguese police for basically screwing up the whole operation. For me honestly, I agree. They should've asked the parents beforehand and cleared them before it even degenerated to this.

I don't think Kate and Gerry are responsible for this. Well obviously, it's their fault she's missing. That's awful parenting. But I don't think they've killed her and buried her under a road somewhere. Even though the evidence suggests that they are guilty, I just don't believe it.

But to be honest, I do think she's dead now. It sounds cold, heartless and harsh, but it's been a hell of a long time and there hasn't been anything of an actual sighting of her.
