Does anyone try and master games?

Now by mastering I don't just mean by getting all the items, best weapons / armor / etc, beating all the bosses and so on. I mean doing all of that and having your characters at the max level possible as well.

So, what games have you mastered?

For me the only game I can think of that I've mastered:

Game: Ys Book I and II
Console: Turbo Duo
Notes: This game you pretty much have to get to level 99 and you have to get the best weapons...well, at least the Cleria weapons anyways. You'll come across a set that's better, but it's useless against the last boss. The last boss you'll need the extra HP anyways.

The only game i have mastered is...

Game: Final Fantasy Tactics
Console: PSX
Notes: The highest i was at one point was lvl 46 but then i stayed in deep dungeon for a bit eventually mastering it. Getting to lvl 99. Took me awhile but it was worth it.

Oh yeah, most definitely. Unfortunately, I've only had the patience to master FFVIII, FFIX, FFX, and FFX-2. I wish I could have mastered FFVII (almost did), FFXII, Chrono Cross, Kingdom Hearts, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, and many others.

I like the idea of mastering games but laziness usually gets the best of me. I've come very close to mastering FFVII and FFVIII but I didn't have the patience to max out the character stats.

Yeah, and I absolutely loved collecting all those cards! Not to mention that I love FFVIII. xD

Actually...I was almost close to mastering VII. I just couldn't beat Emerald Weapon. >.<

I remember starting Final Fantasy VIII and getting stuck at the beginning because all I wanted to do was play Triple Triad and never go any further so I ended up going into another game unfortunately.

If you were close to mastering it meaning you were probably lvl 99 then im suprised you still couldnt beat him >.> i beat him at 70.

I know. I had all the limit breaks mastered, had all the summons, mastered all the materia (even got the Master Materia)...but for some damn reason, I just couldn't beat him. -_- I was 12 when I finished the game, but I think my tactic was a bit off. I'm sure that if I were to play the game again (which I've actually started a few months ago), I'd be able to defeat Emerald.

Games I've mastered:
Ratchet and Clank games on PS2 (minus Deadlocked)
Kingdom Hearts 1
God of War 1 and 2
Onimusha 3

Games I've come close to mastering:
Final Fantasy IX (done everything but reach S rank treasure hunter)
Soul Calibur 2 (mastered every character but Ivy and Cervantes)
Final Fantasy VII (everything but Ruby/Emerald WEAPONs beat and Cloud's final limit)

Everything else I'm nowhere near mastering.

It was Ruby that always got me >.< and I also couldn't be bothered mastering all my materia

VIII I have come so close to mastering except I have NEVER found Irvine & Kiros card or got Shockwave Pulsar for Quistis - That angers me gretly

X Im still stuck on Dark Anima......

So its like close but no cigar for me >_<

Game: Day of Defeat
System: PC

I've pretty much mastered this game, which is a Multiplayer only WWII First Person Shooter. The game has a excellent mechanic where you can pick up grenades thrown at you and throw them back if you're fast enough. This was the first feature I've mastered, figuring out all of the hotspots of the mapp where people typically throw grenades to allow them to turn the corner or whatever, thus, I go there, pick up a grenade, throw it back around the corner, kill anywhere from 1-5 guys with their own grenade, depending on where they're all gathered. (I've actually wiped out the whole opposing team with one grenade several times when they all rushed in for a control point.)

On the D Day map, I have mastered sniping on both sides, the Allies and Axis. The best sniping points for the Axis are in the bunkers or behind sandbags. However, bunkers are EXACTLY where most Allied snipers aim, so, despite the lack of cover with sandbags and the possibility of getting knifed by invading allies, the sandbags are best.

As for the allies, they don't have to move far to start sniping. Those metal bars jutting out of the water...? Voila! Your new sniping position! Just crawl on up and start blowing brains out from 150 - 200 yards away. Make sure to check both the bunkers and the sandbags of the axis and clear them out as they get in position.

Eh, I never really have the patience. I'll usually train to an unbelievable level/strength, but I tend to lose interest before getting to the maximum. The only game I ever got to the maximum levels in was Pokemon. XD

I did that in Pokemon too, with that lovely glitch to get 99 rare candies...then yellow version had to take it out

I've tried mastering X...but ugh, I do NOT have the patience to take everyone though the sphere grid, get the Magus Sisters, etc...maybe I'll go for it on my new file though.

So...if you've completed EVERYTHING and maxed the stats of your characters, then you can claim to have mastered the game?

I like to think that the player's skill dictates whether they've mastered a game or not. I could kill random Heartless for days until I hit the max level, but I'm still just as skilled as I would be if I stopped at level 60 and beat the game.

Going by your standards, I have never mastered a game.

Then what would you consider "mastering a game"?

The only games I have mastered is KH1, KH:CoM, and Pokemon Blue, but I didn't train them al to lv.100, but I didn't get Mew either, but i did get em all

All but one, anyway. ;D

I never got Mew...but I think you need a Gameshark or some sort of outside source to get 'em.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

When you become more than proficient in terms of skill? Something along those lines.

I'd say I've mastered Kingdom Hearts despite never taking the time to level up to 100.

Depends on how you look at it, I guess.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
