I spent YEARS winning this from the chocobo racing. YEARS I TELL YOU, because according to my SHITE guide, it can't be obtained anywhere else (ok, when I say years, I mean hours, but still H-O-U-R-S...actually, no, years applies, because Ive never bothered trying to win it before) So anyway, I decide my last play through, I was gunna get all the materia, which involved having to go do some betting...

Anyway, an MSN convo directs me to a link where magic counter is apparently in the crater, nah, Im saying, if its in there and hasnt been mentioned in the guide, Id still of come across it at SOME point, and Ive never had it

Anyway, apparently, its in some fucking waterfall, completely fucking invisible on the PS version

So I dubiously fire up my last playthrough just to check (and to pray Im right) AND WHAT DID I GO AND FUCKING FIND?

It can kiss my fucking ARSE

HOURS I spent winning that HOURS

HOW DARE IT BE BOTH INVISIBLE AND NOT IN THE GUIDE :rage:

Tell me I'm not the only twat to never notice this....on the PS version at least :hmph:
 
I think I found out it was there through a walkthrough, as opposed to a guide. Not that I ever bought the guide. To be honest, the chocobo races bored me rather than infuriated me.

The MSN convo was hilarious. I could tell a rage thread was coming. We all could :8F: At least you know for the future...
 
But come on... Are you not, in some way or another, maybe even deep deep down kinda... Ok no? You're pissed at me for pointing this out aren't you? hahahahaha

at least you know now for future play throughs? :monster:
 
That is NOT the point, do you know HOW LONG I SPENT BETTING TRYING TO WIN THAT FUCKING THING

Fuuuuuuuuuuming. I actually can't beleive it, my new playthrough has been turned off in DISGUST

It is annoying... I mean you buy an OFFICIAL GUIDE because it's supposed to show you item locations... Is Magic Counter... Not qualifying enough to be put in the item list for the Northern Crater... Added Cut falls under that too!
 
At least that's on the materia list and tells you where it is...though, it doesn't give the exact location, I spent hours scouring for that as well

I think I made a rant thread about that as well funnily enough.....
 
I know, it makes you wonder why they get away with charging so MUCH for the guides in the first place... mine was like £15 just for the guide!!!

But in all seriousness Kelly, I don't think this'll be something you'll forget in a hurry, you'll prolly remember this for future playthroughs (When you recover from the shock and all)
 
The official guide is shit. :dave:

Although I never knew Magic Counter was in the crater, I'm pretty sure I never bothered getting it either.

The official guide doesn't tell you about the second ribbon in the crater either or that you can steal a protect ring from Schizo. I'm not sure about the Curse Ring but it may not mention that either. :hmmm:
 
I had a Ribbon on EVERYONE regardless of whether they were in my party or not... You just morph Tonberries into them :)

But yeah, it's good to know about that Magic Counter and all :)
 
Because I was betting on the races, not actually racing, it was never offered up as any kind of reward for racing myself
 
he was betting that can take awhile. and you can morph master Tonberries into ribbons ?
and for clarification they are the short dudes with lanterns that can do massive damage to you party right?

I forgot I'd re-started this game and turned it off in a huff over this, I should get back onto my file

At least I know I don't have to endure the betting this time around :rage:
 
Now Im going to assume that this is the materia In the waterfall where you Skip/Jump 2-3 times and have to press the X button...........?

I thought that the was the Mega All or it was in the Pal version of the game or maybe its in the same area......

Is that the Brady games guide?
 
supposedly the one in the playstation version is invisible so it is not the mega all that you refer to though i am sure that is the correct waterfall. after all have you tried doin the skip and grab on it after you got the mega all? i have not so i am unsure. i have to work up another file to do that and it takes forever
