Low Frequency Soundwave and the Placebo effect.

So my sister walks into my room this afternoon and tells me all about this soundwave file called "gates of hades". It;s a soundwave file that runs for 29 minutes and when totally relaxed in dead silence and a pitch black room with your eyes closed, it's meant to mess with the placebo effect or something of a sort.

Apparently there's a frequency that can trigger spontaneous orgasms aswell but i can't clarify that statement because multiple orgasms for ales is dangerous

Anyone tried it before?

I think that sounds like the isochronic or biaural waves that I occasionally listen to.

Apparently, they're supposed to be rather effective. A sort of shortcut for achieving something that would otherwise require a greater amount of effort than just sitting there and relaxing.

Honestly speaking though, I cannot say for sure that it actually works.

Whether or not it actually works is one thing, but really, it's placebo effect in itself. I honestly doubt you can really see the effects so ultimately, it all boils down to the subjective 'opinion'. Therein lies the 'placebo effect' that it's meant to mess with >.>

So I would think, anyway. Those isochronic and biaural waves never completely worked out for me when I attempted an objective method of seeing how effective it was - like using a sudoku puzzle and seeing how long I take to solve it. (BTW, that one I tried was one that was meant to increase your IQ)

My sister tried it and she said that she "heard" loud screams and what she thought was demonic cries. I listened to the whole clip and heard nothing.

I think what happens, is that being absolutely silent, and in a really dark room, it makes people think of nothing but the audio clip and trying to listen to more than what's in the clip, then they i guess you can say 'imagine' the screams and your body does the rest of the reacting........if you get what i mean.

You'd have to try it for yourself to really understand it ;S

I have to express my alarm at the idea of these evil soundwaves that will seek me out and deliver highly dangerous modes of orgasm. I know what you're thinking - an orgasm is an orgasm, right? - but falling in love/lust with a soundwave may lead me to a state of peril beyond any states of peril that I am currently capable of dealing with (The League of Superheroes is generally in agreement that eleven out of tenners such as myself are capable of dealing with stage 8 emergencies, for example, supervolcano eruptions). There comes a point in life where one must accept that addiction to positive states of being is not necessarily a good thing when taken to the umpteenth degree. I know what you're thinking - STFU - and that is indeed where I intend to stop. Now, as for these devil screams and what-not. Well, they're considered Stage 3 emergencies - i.e. things I can take care of with my hands tied behind my back and my penis tied behind my face. I'm not unduly worried.

How fucking weird. I thought I was crazy. Then again, I get freaked out, even with lights and such on. So meh, oh well.

I agree with post #4 . They probably hear all these things because there is no other noise or anything, so their mind is forced to focus on the only attention grabbing thing in the room, which would be the audio clip. Since there is no picture to go with it, your brain starts thinking about a bunch of different things. Which can lead to you thinking you're hearing psycho screaming noises.
