Love? I'm confused

Okay, everyone I know tells me that they think I'm in love with someone I know, but I don't know what exactly love is. I've had my share of crushes and everything, but this feels different. It kind of confuses me. If you've ever actually been 'in love' before, could you tell me how exactly you knew, because I have no clue how to tell or anything.
 
Ahh. Well, if this feeling confuses you, it's gotta be love! ;) Lol, just kidding. Well, you see...love IS confusing. But on the other hand, it can be really simple. It really depends on how one defines love. It has many different meaning, IMO.

I've been in love three times. And yes, I know they are love and not just crushes or infatuation. I've had many share of crushes and such, but the three guys are an exceptional. The first one was when I was ten. Childhood friend, but I only see him during summer vacation whenever I go back to my country, which is rare. I finally realized I was in love with him years later, (what with all the diary entries I wrote about him, lol)... but it was already too late...

Second one was when I was 14. A friend of mine at school. We never got together for fear of losing a great friendship, but it had always been a rollercoaster ride when it came to the two of us. Third one was I was 16 or 17. A guy who was in my class who's liked me since I was 16, but never really noticed him since I was in love with my other friend. (The third guy is now my husband, by the way. ;) )

How do I know they were love? Lol, trust me, it was more complicated than that. I didn't know who I was in love more with, but whenever I think of those three guys, they were all different feelings, but at the same time, they were all strong feelings as well. My husband knows that the other two guys in my life will always be a part of me and that I'll always have a special feeling for each. Now I know that I love my husband more, of course. I wouldn't have married him if I wasn't sure.

I've had my closure with the other two guys already, and it was better that way. There was no hard feelings or such. Now, I don't know YOUR story, but only you can tell if it's really love or not. I actually posted an article about love. It's a long read, but really worth it if you really wanna know about the topic.

O.O I didn't know we get scores on this. So like, if I have elaborated more on my story (which I didn't, by the way, for the sake of longevity), you'd probably give me a 10/10? :D Haha, I kid.

Anyway, I forgot to add, Carrier of Hope...good luck with that love thing going on in your life right now. If it is indeed love! Heh, could be a pain in the ass, if you ask me.

Or well, like what PreZBandit said..."love doesn't exist"...ahem, to some people (he forgot to add). It certainly exist for me. :P

Well some ppl belive that love does exsits and some ppl belive that it doesn't so its cool if they don't think that exists.Well to i really think that love does exists as u can see.

Hmm, well...I can't prove anything in text. But, look around you. You'll see it. To some, it doesn't exist, and I can understand that and believe it to some extent. But to others, it does exist. I've known many people who's experienced it and are still experiencing it.

Sure, there are some that's had a few bad experiences when it comes to love and they'll immediately go, "Oh, love doesn't exist anyway." Some might say that it's just a mirage and that is what you see at the end of the journey. But well, a mirage is a false destination...you can see it but you'll never get there. I think that is what some people are experiencing when they say love does not exist. But it doesn't mean you can write love off altogether because there are still many people who experience it.

Think of it this way. There are parents who love their children, yes? That's some form of love, is it not? But then...there are parents who doesn't love their children as well. Does that mean that THAT sort of love doesn't exist anymore? At all? No, of course not.

And then there's others who will lay down their life for another...is that not love?

I believe that love is beyond any scope because it doesn't follow any rule. I think that the only way to learn love is when you feel it in your heart, soul, and skin. How can it be proven to someone who has not experience it? I don't know of a way to prove it to you other than telling you of what I know.

I also believe that love is not just a feeling - it's a choice as well. A choice to commit, trust, make sacrifice, and to go through all the worst case scenarios with the person you love.

EDIT: Meh, I just saw your recent post. You can't tell me that what I'm feeling is mixed lust with the urge to not be alone. How would you know what I feel in the first place? Or many others? :) I'm not telling you to believe in love. I'm just saying that it does exist for me and to many others. You asked for proof, and I tried explaining, not necessarily proving anything because I know it is not that simple.

There are many many married couples in the world, because they love each other, there is your proof.

Oh yeah i never thought about asking u that question so if ur so sure that love does not exist then we want u to show us your proof that it doesn't exsit.
 
I've heard people say that love is a different thing to different people. I believe that. Some people find it in another person. Others experience it in the form of a hobby or just in the form of friendship. Others experience it in other ways. Some people greatly believe in it and will spend their entire lives looking for it, while others don't believe in it and, therefore, don't look for it nor acknowledge it. Either way, it's an individual thing and that should be respected. If some people choose to believe in it, then fine. If others don't, well that's fine, too.

On a personal level, I believe it exists and I have no doubts that I've felt it, and still do. There really isn't anything anyone can say to convince me otherwise. It really can't be anything else. Someone earlier told someone else that what they were feeling was just "lust mixed together with the urge not to be alone". That certainly doesn't apply to me. I don't do lust and I prefer being alone to being around any amount of people. But if a skeptic has an alternative explanation as to what I'm feeling, if not love, then by all means, I'd like to hear it.

love? i think its how u feel about sum1 but... don't fall too deep becuzz u might get into fights or whateva & 1 day that person breaks ur heart just like that..... it is kinda confusing i don't blame u don't say u love sum 1 if u don't really mean it.. cuzz the person that may "love" u will think u like them bac so just watch ur step! but of course i got ur bac lol;)
 
You could look at it from a scientific point of view...
Ever heard the term "good chemistry"?

Lust...is the effect of testosterones and estrogen. When you look at your partner and get an errection or wet yourself, it's not love; it's lust. Don't ever confuse an errection for a sign of love...

Love is an effect of a heavy flow of monoamines (a type of neurotransmitter, which channels nerve impulses) throughout the brain. Monoamines affiliated with the emotion of love include: norepinephrine and serotonin, which cause excitement, and dopamine; which is associated with a feelings of happiness.

It's been discovered in scientific studies that foods such as chocolate, and certain fruits like strawberies contain chemicals called phenylethylamine...which controls the release of certain monoamines...thus making the feeling of love last longer.


But the scientific view just takes the romance out of it...

Scientifically speaking though...your body knows what's up, even if you don't. When your body releases those monoamines, your brain associates it with the situation at hand...
Relationships=lust/love.
Being in a relationship isn't the only way to experience pleasure...it's only a common knowledge.
