Mmmk so i don't have any trouble wit hthe first half of the battle, his atacks are pretty normal, nothing out ofthe ordinary.

BUT!

When his armour comes off, he goes ape shit on me like he's got insta-haste or something! what's the go? is there a way around it? I tried casting "Big Guard" to lessen the blows but even that leaves me with less than 500HP (my characters are around lv 25-28) and then he goes for the same character again.

have finished this game before, i just need to know if there's an easier way of takin him down so i can grab the basement key and Odin.

your last attack before his armor disappeared determines his form. If you attack with physical, he will have very high physical attack. If you attack with magic, he will use strong magic. From what I know, the magic form is less dangerous and has low physical defense. Try to pound only magic attacks before the armor disappears. Then use physical attacks against the magic form. Paralyze him using limit breaks can also work. good luck

Yeah, his magic attacks are less dangerous than his physical if I remember correctly. Just make sure you keep big guard up at all times. For an easy way to kill him, you could just have Aeris use Seal Evil which will paralyze him while you pummel him. You should be able to do some major damage that way.

If I remember correctly Choco/mog works to seal him as well. So the best thing to do is go in the fight with Cloud, Aeris, and whoever else. Use Aeris Seal evil limit break hack away with powerful attacks/magics/summons. If he gets to moving again start casting choco and mog until Aeris has her limit break up again. Every time she has a limit you should save it to cast seal evil. So give her good magic so she can cast instead of using an attack.

Two things that I would like to note.

1. In Junon there is a blueish hallway where you can press an alarm on the wall. This is a great place to level up after you get titan. With Choco/mog, Shiva, Ifrit, Ramuf, and Titan you should be able to kill them and run into the hotel near by to rest. This gives great EXP/AP/Gil. So maybe you should level up.

2. Another thing is, you do NOT have to fight him right away. In fact with the materia keeper coming up you can hold off on the Vincent quest altogether until after that fight. Oh and you don't ever have to do the quest... but it is rewardable due to Odin, Cosmos Memory and yes Vincent.

Hmm no wonder every other time i've faced it, it kept using high level bolt magic! too bad you dont get reflect till later...

I would normally wait till later to do the quest but i want to get all the characters as soon as possible, that way i can level them up and get their limit breaks quickly and easily.

Santa and Sora. Thanks for your advice, i can easily pummel him into the ground now :)
