It seems I'm slowly losing interest in gaming.

Started before I got my PS3, but I put it down to being bored with the PS2, with owning 50 odd games which all have been completed.

Got the PS3, got to the last fight on Heavenly Sword, then bought FIFA09 and MGS4. Played them both quite alot, hardly touch them now.

Bought Killzone 2, finished the campaign once, then played online alot. Hardly touch it now.

Bought Mirror's Edge and DBZ Burst Limit, played them both abit, still haven't finished them.

Bought GTAIV three weeks ago, already forgotten about. Not even that far into the game.

Bought Turok on Saturday, enjoyed it for the day. Played it abit on Monday, haven't touched it since.

Been replaying FFVII over the past few weeks. Got onto disc three, took out Ultimate Weapon, started on chocobo breeding, having touched for a few days.

Seems my interest is slowly slipping away. It's not that I don't enjoy playing these games, because I do, but for some reason I just don't feel motivated or any real need to play games now.

Anyone else gone through anything like this? Is this just a phase?

I would consider selling the PS3, but I don't want to regret it, like I did after selling the N64 and Gamecube.

It happens sometimes. I do that a lot, go through bouts of excessive gaming, then nothing for a month or so. Maybe you just need time off before you rediscover your love for gaming? Maybe you're not challenged enough by it? Or maybe you just have more important things going on?

Yeah and don't sell your PS3, I'm sure they'll be some games coming out next year that will fully use the capabilities of it and you probs would regret it.

I think everyone goes through this problem as they mature and grow older. I used to play video games constantly. Now? I probably draw more than I play games.

I think a lot of it has to do with the games themselves changing. I prefer all the old stuff over the new things that are coming out. Very few games can hold my attention for very long.

Perhaps you'll slip out of the funk soon. But I wouldn't go selling anything just yet.

I'd say it's just a phase for the moment. I know I've gone through times where I didn't play games much, or at all at times. Usually it was a new game that I'd buy that would bring me back to games. Like FFXIII, that might be the game to bring you back.

And also, don't get rid of your PS3, it is the system of the future and when you get back into games, you'll have a new found love for games again.

I'll admit that even though Heavenly Sword is an awesome game, it was kind of short and it didn't put up too much of a challenge (even though I had some annoying moments with it). And also GTA4 is a slow game to start with, but it will capture your interest over time. I remember being bored with it too, then 1 specific mission got me really into it, it might be the same for you too.

I find myself going through similar ordeals, and I've found that it's just something that happens as you grow older and get more priorities in life.
Having a bit more on my plate now than when I was 16, I demand much more of my games than I did when I was younger. If a game isn't smoking red hot and absolutely great, then I have better things to do with my time.

Ive been having more and more phases of not being interested, about a year ago I just couldn't be arsed playing anything at all, and had a stack of games that jsut lay there incomplete gathering dust, til I eventually decided to dust of KH (around march time) and played through loads of games and just finished like, a month ago, now I cba again

I have a Wii aswel which just sits there untouched, I have absoloutely no desire to play it :ness:

Eh, I guess it's a part of growing up. I have been playing games a little less than before but that's because I enjoy chatting/surfing online more sometimes. Also school, work, and social friends also take away my free time. I do still play games quite often. I always carry around my DS or PSP with me to keep me busy.

Lately I've been having random video game obsession bursts. For a while I wouldn't play games and then I would pick something up again and become totally obsessed with it. Right now my obsession is with Pokemon Platinum. My last obsession was with the Xbox 360, Fable II and Beautiful Katamari.

Got the PS3, got to the last fight on Heavenly Sword, then bought FIFA09 and MGS4. Played them both quite alot, hardly touch them now.

I've got a PS3 too and I rarely touch it. I regret buying it sometimes but hey it was one of the last 80gigs with PS2 backward compatibility. x_x

I just don't think anything that amazing has come out for the PS3 yet. Well, Prototype, InFamous, and Batman are looking good. It's just what the PS3 really need is a good exclusive. Hopefully God of War III can provide that come back.

Also I've noticed JRPGs have been losing their spark and they're getting too repetitive. I use to be a huge JRPG fan but I've loosing interest in them.

It varies for me really. During college times, I really can't be bothered to game, like, at all. I'm too tired every night to focus playing on a huge game, and I've got lots of other stuff I could be doing instead.

Although, during the holidays, I find myself gaming a lot more, especially during days where no one's doing anything, great way to pass the time.

I always have time for my DS though. It's portable and saving games is easy most of the time, so it's hassle free.

dude it happens 2 me sometimes 2 i just do other stuff in those days

its not that u dont like videogames its just u get bored with the ones u have

I would say it's most like just a phase you are going through. It happens. I know it's happened to me a good bit. Sometimes it lasts for awhile, other times it only lasts for a few months. But I have always returned to wanting to play Video Games again. Usually reading about a certain game (whether I own it or it's one coming out) will get me out of the funk and back to wanting to play them again. Or even thinking about going back through a game to collect everything or beat a superboss I haven't beaten yet will get me to wanting to play games again. It's different for everyone though.

I know my husband, who loves playing video games more then anyone I know, has also had this happen to him. I know the most recent time lasted a few months. He would start on a game and then not want to finish it.

But like I said,it's different for everyone. ^^ Maybe even taking a break from playing them will make you have the urge to start playing games after awhile!

i go through this with game quite alot.. there may be 1 game or something i will play through out but generally a phase.. i used to play Runescape alot when i was younger and id have phases where i would say buy a month membership play 2 days and stop,, and go back after a while.. but after a few years it got to several months in between plays and now i havnt gone back lol.. and i feeel its slowley going this way with this now =/ coz cant dont hold me now.. when i was younger and as much as last year i cou;ld sit there for days lol.. rarley sleeping playing games,, and now,, well i brough a new 360 3 weeks back, added the free live, played it for a week and since then its been a oversized paperweight...

I have to agree it's just a phase, at one point I went through about a 6-8 month period without touching a game but then I'll go through a period where it's epic gaming for me, I haven't really been through a period where I haven't touched a game recently since I'm on and off with FIFA09 most days. However, on a postive side, games seem to becoming more serious types of games nowadays with deep and intriguing characters are storylines so I'll be happy with my PS3 until the PS4 comes out at the very least :)

I'm OCD when it comes to a game. I will play the game till there is everything to do in it (but achievements) and then put it down. I really can't be pulled away from the game, and if I am I never pick it back up. So for you to do that with VII it is a shame, because it is such great game. Hopefully you will be inspired to play it again in the near future.

Everyone goes through it. My guy has barely played any of his games lately. I bought him fear 2 about 2 months ago and he wanted it for ages. But hes played it 3 times and just doesnt sem interested in playing them anymore. I usually play my computer games at least once a day if I can. Sometimes its a good few days before I go near a console. Guess it depends on how you feel and how busy you are.

It happened to me a year or two ago. I just stopped caring about playing games altogether, and whenever I did feel like playing something, it was only a passing fancy and by the next day I wouldn't care again.
I got my XBox a little before Christmas and I do play it quite a bit, but there are a few games on it that I'd wanted to play for a long time (Gears of War, Halo 3, Resident Evil 5 etc.) Overall though, I'm a lot less interested in gaming than I used to be.

Well, Turok just gave me a kick in the teeth.

Happily playing it for a while, then the thing decides to glitch on me.

Objective: Get on the elevator. I was on the elevator. The guy finished messing about with the controls, elevator did not move.

Was running around and waiting for like 20 minutes. Checked a guide and everything was done right.

Typical something like that would happen at a time where I'm not too fussed on gaming and decide to give it another go.

For the last year or so I've noticed that I've not touched a game.

I think it's because since I've moved out I've had a lot of things to do. Not necessarily things I want to do, but they have to be done and then I just get tired from it all and can't be bothered then having to pull out a game and such.

My partner says to me all the time, "You spend more time on here talking about games then actually gaming." XD

It's true, but there's less effort required for this then gaming. XD

I've promised myself to play two new games I bought off the net a while ago, otherwise it's money wasted.

I think sometimes it's just a phase and we find other new and interesting hobbies. But sometimes we come back to our old hobbies after a good long break and appreciate them all over again. =)

For the last 5 months i have never touched a FF game but replayed some of my old games like KH and TWEWY. guess i found something else better to do. someday you will crave it again. like people say, its just a phase.

losing interest

yeah i no what you mean i havent had a new game sincce christmas but i dont have a ps3 i hve a xbox 360 lol well i havent a game since christmas so yeah i am getting tired of all my games completed all of them and ive got all the achievmants for all of my games lol

I haven't bought a game in almost 2 years

Now that I mention it, the last one was probably FFXII

I recently played X-2 to get 100% completion, but I've barely looked at my games in recent times

My friends keep telling me about Killzone, GTAIV and Fallout 3, but when I play the games at their house I quickly lose interets

I might get a PS3 in the future, though
