Longest FF Boss battle?

No word of a lie, Yiazmat took me about 5-6 hours to beat, both times I beat him. So that is far and away the longest boss battle I've encountered. I don't recall which was longer, Hell Wyrm or Omega Mark XII, but I think Hell Wyrm was a little longer. Hell Wyrm is a pretty easy battle all in all, but Omega was a lot harder. But Yiazmat isn't too bad in the early stages, but the later stages can be downright annoying.

Well, anyone who has played XII and met Yiazmat would know that the longest boss battle in all the FF series is Yiazmat, what with 50,000,000 HP and you only being able to do 9999 at a time. Game mechanics experts have proven that it is impossible to defeat Yiazmat in under 50 minutes.

It took me about 6 hours to do it... I did it in one go, although I went to the crystal to save & heal sometimes. (though I don't think I died... or did I? >.>)

Wait so on what I keep hearing you can actually save during the middle of a battle? I'm kinda confused when it comes to Yiazmat, I keep reading things like this, which I don't normally see in an FF game. I could be wrong so can someone please explain a short summary about the battle system in XII?

Basically you can leave the fight whenever you face Yiazmat. Supposing you're desperately low on MP and most of your party is dead, you can flee the colosseum and go back to the save crystal. However Yiazmat tends to buff himself up and heal a lot whenever you wander far away from him.

Once you come back, Yiazmat's HP should be where it was providing he doesn't heal itself - allowing you to resume the fight. There is a counter that tells you how many times you've fled from Yiazmat, although the counter doesn't mean anything else.

Ah, that explains it. This is way different than what I'm used to, so pardon my surprise.

Yiazmat gets my vote as the longest boss battle. But out of the games I played, I still gotta go with Emperor (FFII).

Hm, well Omega Weapon maybe, since I put all my party members on hero and fought him with limits and attack commands only just for kicks, though, wait, I did beat Emerald in FFVII with Cloud the same way, killed off everyone else and just used slash all and that one probably took me longer, like 40mins I think. So Emerald.

I was testing out those fake ways to bring Aeris back to life and one of them happend to depend on fighting Emerald with Cloud only and using no materia. Though I used slash all, if i didnt Id just run out of time. Aire Tam Storm never hit me, it missed every time, along with most of Emeralds attacks which is pretty odd, but I beat him and reset it and beat him again to be sure the game wasnt messing up.

But all those lengths were my fault, so Idk who takes the longest, but I do know who you can survive the longest on: Kuja. By the end of the game I had so many abilities equipped I left the game on and came back 30 mins later and my characters were barely hurt.

If your talking about any boss including optional bosses then there isnt even a question Yiazmat takes anywhere upwards of 4 hours so this is a no contest

Definately Yizmat. Ends up being a 3-5 hour fight on average. Although i have heard of a few people beating him in about an hour.

>_< He's an outright pain in the ass.

Ruby Weapon took me friggin' ages as well. I was about to toss the damn controller out and say fuck it, set it aside, while I think... Red XIII attacked, and he died. I was like O.O after 1 hour. Cluttered back to get my controller with wide eyes of course. :wacky:

My longest boss battle was with Penance in the international version of FFX.

It took me about 2 hour to beat that son of a gun.

Not to also mention the WEAPONS (Ruby and Emerald) from FF7 -

They took me about 2 hours to beat.

My longest boss fight was Lady Yunalesca the first time. It took me 50 minutes. I was so underleveled and didn't expect her to change into 3 forms. Ultimecia battle was close as well.

Yeah...FFXII has some very, very, very, long and difficult battles in them. They had to make up for the lack of pretty much everything else so they put in crazy ass difficult bosses.

I liked 12. I got to level 87. All because I just set up my gambits and watched my characters play the game without me...The bosses where the greatest part of the game because you actually had to think to play it...

im gonna have to go with the Weapons (Ruby and Emerald). The first time through the game i barely beat both of them....i use to get a bit frustrated with the time limit with the emerald weapon....i think i researched on the net on how to beat him (Underwater materia lol-removes the time limit...)

next to them it would have to be the Final Boss on Tactics Advance ( i cant remember his/her name because i havent played in a while). I remember getting annoyed cause he/she kept killing off my players and having to keep using Pheonix Downs and Auto Life with my white mage to keep my players alive...i think that battle took me an hour and a bit.

I remember it took me about 2 or 3 hours to do the final boss in FFVIII but this was mostly due to the fact at the very last stage of the fight, i was only able to physically attack the boss due to not having any magic's left (i think) so it took hours!

Probably a toss up between Ozma and Ultimecia.

Ozma - When I first tried to beat him,it was on my very first play through. I did not do the friendly monster sidequest and was not able to hit him physically. So it took about an hour or hour and a half.

Ultimecia - Also my first play through,I did not have anyones ultimate weapon so no Lionheart. My party was Selphie,Squall, and Rinoa and I relied mostly on Rinoa's Wishing Star, which is a good move. I also didn't have my people's stats right so they did't do that much damage. It was a very long fight. I can't even remember how long it went on until she finally died.

Angra Mainyu from Final Fantasy X-2 took me around 40 minutes, which is the longest boss battle i've ever done in not just Final Fantasy, but any game.

Felt good when I defeated it though.

Well fighting ruby weapon 1on1 without summons is slog healing ,attack, healing ,attack, omnislash, dodge, attack, heal you get the picture.Emerald Weapon is easier
because of the help you from 2 other team members.

l don't really know Yiazmat counts.....you dont actually fight him.....you tell a bunch of pratts what to do. And what do you get for slaying him, a freakin' GodSlayer badge tgo help you unlock a sword that would have helped in slayin Yiazmats ass.

STUPID!

I don't recall FFXII's battles being really that long. I thought they were all dull as anything, but not long.

Ultimecia took me longer to beat than anyone. And then I've seen youtube videos of people beating all three stages so fast, and I felt lame.

Back in the day before l paid attention to the Help FFVIII provides about Junctioning l used to wander around without any magic equipped on my guys so they were easily picked apart
this was my 1st FF game and it was a new franchise for me so it took a while to get around.

So the point at which my ignorance kicked me in the nuts was an hour long battle with
Fujin & Raijin at Balamb they ripped the living crap outta ma several times till llearnt the ways of junctioning.

Well, in terms of optional: I'd say Yiazmat takes this prize. Over 20 hours of pure horror, especially after the last few bars of health.

Non-Optional: Beating Zeromus in FFIV took me a long time. Not to mention I was trying not to lose or else I would be sent back a long walk back to him. >_<
