yeah i loved li'l zé, he was probably my favourite character. i thought he felt the most real of all them, even when he was a little kid. that scene when you see him shooting everyone was creepy. i wanted to know a bit about what happened to angelica after benny died though. i didn't realise it was based on a true story until the very end.
 
Yeah it is based on a rue story. Benny was such a cool guy aswell. He was really the only one who could hold back Ze.

Som trivia for you but most of the cast were complete amateur actors and actresses. Ze included. The young ze or lil dice. The actor who plays him is in the tv show the city of men. Which isnt based on either the city of god or the city of men but it focuses around Rio and the same kinda situations etc.

Real glad you liked it.
 
i'm disappointed it took me so long to watch it. i thought the guy who played li'l zé looked a little like samuel jackson in pulp fiction though :hmmm:
 
It's a great movie, lew got me to watch it too. I was a bit unsure about it at first but I'm so glad I watched it. Benny is awesome!
 
Yeah he does look like samuel l a bit :wacky: its the hair i think

your made out to think aswell that rocket will end up with angelica but that doesnt happen at all. Instead he ends up hooking up with his photographer lady friend :busta:

I like when hes trying to be a gangster but everywhere he goes he ends up liking the people. That guy was too cool to rob, that girl was too pretty etc :lew:
 
yeah i enjoyed that as well. that made him feel a lot more different to everyone else, since pretty much everyone else you see in the film kills somebody at one point. i felt bad when knockout ned killed his first guy :sad3:
 
Yeah you feel so bad for knockout ned cuz hes just a good looking fella as they say and lil ze takes his rage out on him.

He turns from the good honest guy to a gangster. The end scene gives me a laugh when all the kids awe walking away and theyre talking about wh theyre gunna get etc. The kid who was shot in the foot hobbles after them.
 
i didn't see the thing coming with otto actually wanting to kill ned as well. but i thought when he got shot the first time it looked like it was otto hiding there

i liked ko ned the best. and it was the sideburns that made ze look like samuel l haha

did you know the guy who played ko ned is actually a famous brazilian singer called Seu Jorge? he performed at the closing london 2012 olympics ceremony

Tiago thats the one! And yesh i thought he was in it for it too but i think having Benny kill him would definitely have ruined the way they were making Benny out to be. He wouldnt have been the nice guy he was if he killed Tiago.

its actually quite common knowledge in brazil :wacky: when i saw his face at the closing ceremony i was like no way knockout ned!

i love that movie easily my favourite foreign language film
 
Well as you know im not in Brazil. I bet its not snowing there atm. =_=

I didnt watch much of the olympics at all. I heard there some dreadfull bands and artists playing though.

And yup its my favourite movie ever not just foreign. Oldboy woul dbe mt 2nd favourite foreign film :hmmm:
 
im not a huge international film buff so ive not really got anything to compare it with :wacky: and yes there were some dreadful performances. they gave george michael ages of stage time!
