When you find that something in your grasp is struggling to break free, would you rather hang on to it, or would you let it go?

Like say you take a hummingbird or something, like when a little child does it and doesn't let it go.

I mean, we would all feel the same as the hummingbird wouldn't we, wanting to escape and be free, same could apply to relationships, so when something is not working, or is struggling to get free from you, would you willingly let it be?

It's never a good thing to be clingy. Rather you should be independant and rely on yourself to make things happen.

You should never depend on someone else to make you happy.

I was told the same thing about loving someone. I was selfish and didnt want them to move on, but now Im glad I finally let go.
"If you love them enough, you should let them go. If they come back, it was meant to be. If not, then tommorows another day."

Very, very true. If you are dependent on someone else for your own happiness, then you aren't in control of yourself anymore - you'll end up taking a back seat to your dependence. Love can be a complicated thing though, so it's only human to have this happen at some point in time.

Is this not true of everything? We can truly hold onto nothing; it is because of this that we suffer.

True. It's like being dependent on drugs; it will eventually destroy you if you don't thread the line.

It's a difficult thing love, it is inevitable we love something at some point, and as humans, it is just in our very natures to cling to it, like it or not. =\

True, but in a sense we can always hold our vision of God. But then again, we may never know.

I would let it go, no matter how much hurt it brings to you or another. But, if it's relationship-wise and really important to you...I wouldn't give up without a fight first. There are solutions to problems most of the time. It really depends on the situation.

However, if the fight seems futile, then yes, I would finally let it go. With that, I would have no regrets and wouldn't have wonder for the rest of my life whether I should have fought it or not.

But given enough time & your eventual death, what happens to "vision"?

Yea, that's no doubt. I gave up on a relationship way too quickly once and I really do regret it. Not so much the person, just the giving up so quickly. Now I fight for relationships, even when I should let them go I suppose. We're back to that passion topic again though...

Love is not eternal, in fact "eternal love" is an idea (heartlessly speaking) that we humans invented in order to retain something we call "hope". Nothing is eternal, mortality is something that binds us to the constant fear of an inevitable death that could arrive at any moment.

If we were to swear eternal love to someone, it would eventually end up as a lie because nothing lasts forever. Still, there the posibility of those who truly find something quite similar to what we could consider as "eternal love" and remain loving that special person until their last breath, whe everything ends and death arrives to takes them.

I say if something wants to be free, who are we to restrict their freedom? I say let it be, even though that decision is quite disheartening and threatens to drown us in a river of sorrow.

I say let it be......for those who pursue their own path will eventually follow it no matter how many obstacles they find during the course of their life.

Agreed. Right, what we think is "eternal" is always in some way connected to what we fear, which is death. So we propose this illusion to mask that certain reality, at least in my opinion.

Yes, who are we to restrict freedom of any way?
Unfortunately, it's human nature to cling on to things we don't want thrown to the wind. It's a tough thing to do, yes, and we have to overcome great emotion. If we do, it's a victory for the human spirit.

This sounds like a speech. :P
Anyways, agreed as well.
