Kimahri becomes irrelevant?

In my opinion, Kimahri is a good addition to the team, and can be just as useful as anyone else on the team for the first half of the game.

However, after Highbridge, I've found that I rarely, if ever, use Kimahri again. It's frustrating, he's not available on Highbridge, yet it's the best training spot in the game at that point, and can really make transform your characters.

After Highbridge, I just don't bother with Kimahri as anything he can do, someone else can do much better.
 
I agree with you except on one part. I always though Kimahri was kind of useless. He didn't really have any attacks of his own, and Kimahri's story was just there. If he wasn't in the game at all, I don't think much would have changed.
 
I can see where you're both coming from, since highbridge is one of the places that most people would do their training he can kind of just fall out of place with the rest of the characters. And as far as blue mages go (he is in a weird sort of way) he is defiantly one of the most awkward characters to use his ability with.

In all fairness I never used him too much to begin with. He is supposed to be one of the few characters with a naturally high attack stat (strategy guide's words, not mine) but I never got him too attack any higher than tidus or wakka, and he was about as useful as a chocolate tea pot when it came to doing anything unique.

The only things that makes me keep kihmari playable is the following -

1) he can be used to take a hit for a more important character
2) If you can learn mighty guard and white wind they can come in really useful in a boss fight.

As far as the story goes Kihmari's own background is more out there than the others, but more intricate details, such as some traditions that belong to his ronso heritage. Other than that I was a lot more interested in the other stories than his, he just seems... shallow I guess. Kind of 1 dimensional.

I do like Kimahri... in battle, at the beginning. After I get Auron, I don't use him unless I have to. With my insane leveling techniques... I have to use him. (I level equally. It's possible. A pain in the ass. But possible.) He's not too useless... I use him as an extra Tidus because he has more health than Tidus for the beginning by the time I'm done with him. ... however, I just hit the Highbridge, and I see Kimahri getting slowly... less.. useful... D:

The only interesting thing about Kimahri was the fact that he was a cat...thing...

Other than that, I found him to literally be the worst character in the game. I hardly needed him for anything. He only became useful after I had beaten the game and decided to max everyones sphere grids, but even then he fell short of my other characters. I mean, I had it so that Tidus hit people with over 30000 attack!

In short, Kimahri has very little to offer.

It's precisly my opinion about Khimari.

I too belong to the people who rarely used Khimari at all. I think he could've been something great if they'd changed his use of blue magic a little. Instead of making his learned fiend abillities available only as overdrives, he should've had a Lore section instead under Special or something, unique to his character, much like Strago of FFVI. It's just not worth getting someone into overdrive mode, just to use..seed cannon or something weak like that. I have to agree that white wind is quite useful, but then again Yuna is already an excellent healer. He doesn't really have a real place of his own on the grid either, in my opinion. Only at one stage in the game I've found myself relying on his extract abillities. That was when I was out of abillity spheres in the Kilika Forest. He didn't become any more useful when I forgot to use lancet on the Omega Weapon either... -__-

No. I have to say that the game shouldn't really have suffered without Khimari. His story was just too random. If there had been more of a klimax on mt Gagazet more relevant to the main story, than just Khimari finally getting to kick his childhood terrors asses, I would've had more respect for him.

I'll just keep sending him off to self destruct against fiends whenever I for some reason have used him enough to get his overdrive gauge full. : )
 
I must be the only one who found Kimahri useful in some way or another (After some intense training that is).

With my first playthrough I did not use Khimari nor Lulu by the end of the game. As Yuna could just as easily used Black Magic at a better rate. =/. Now, as for my second go around, I made it a point to use Khimari. He was actually quite good once you got him up to par with everyone else in the group. I found his stone breath VERY useful in 'Home' against the Chimira's. Only thing was the highbridge and that kinda threw everything off but I just kept training with him and he can be useful. Nova is an amazing overdrive and so is Mighty Guard. So, he can be used.

Anyways, which enemy did you get stone breath from? That would have been VERY useful to me. :gasp:

I liked how he is strong and good in battle, but IMO his backgorund needs to be focused on. The fact that he doesn't speak much isn't much help either. ¬_¬
 
I don't think Kimahri became irrelevant, as doing so would require that he was relevant to begin with--damn, I was beaten by like everyone here with this opinion.

No, but in all honesty, I just never saw Kimahri's value as a character. His story had no real involvement with anything, and seemed forced in for the sake of giving the half-man-thing some type of purpose. His fighting, meanwhile, I never saw as useful. Some people really liked the whole "mold him how you want" or "versatile" type of thing, but that didn't work at all in this game. His abilities really seemed hindered by having no real excelleration at a particular category.

I use him and level him up just to make sure he's got all the abilities he can along with the others, but all his overdrives obtained was my main goal with him.

Sure he's a good character, and a big part of Yuna's life and mere survival after she parted with Auron when she was young, but as for battle, he can be swapped out easily. Sure everyone can be the strongest in the game, but people with multiple hit attacks and overdrives late in the game like Tidus and Wakka just make for better players in battle.
 
I can deffinetly see what everyone means by Kamahri being useless in a fight. His attacks are to me.....just whatever they didn't wanna give the other characters.

But as far as Kamahri's story being out of place and it being better if he just wasn't there.......I have to completely disagree. I love Kamahri. He makes me laugh and even though he seems cold, he cares a lot. I loved seeing Kamahri's story unfold, even though I did yell at my TV several times (Kamahri!! We could beat an ass for you!! Come on!) I think the game would have had a few less laughs without Kamahri.

And besides.......He's kinda hot........
 
To me he's useless right from the beginning. Not because of his stats but because of his abilities.

Scan... I don't really need it at all. Even against Spheramorph.

Jinx... To me, all the stat abilities are useless. Cheer, Luck, Aim, Focus, Reflex.

And of course, Lancet... Drain and Osmose are so much more powerful that it's worth using two turns to use them instead of Lancet.

Overdrive... To me, Blue Mage is a brilliant idea. It works perfectly in all FF's... And it does work in X, but not as an overdrive. I felt like I was learning good Blue spells are the right time, (Stone Breath, Fire Breath, and Aqua Breath are all cheap really.), but only using them once every 2 to 5ish fights is beyond crappy.

And all the other abilities that actually make him good, such as the breaks or Wakka's status attacks, are already in use by Auron and Wakka, and they get them far earlier. Unless of course you skip most of Kimahri's section, and some how get a level 1 key sphere insanely early in the game.

Storyline, I actually liked. And I liked the idea of having him versus Biran and Yenke. He's perfect for explaining how Auron got Yuna to Besaid.

Yeah, I've never really used Kimahri throughout all my gameplays, only using him when I really need him. At first he's the only character that has piercing in my party, but as soon as Auron comes, that's when he disappears into my unused party members.
 
Are you kidding me? I loved using Kimahri every step of the way. I mean he was an awesome character all around. You could basically make him into anything. And since I think you cannot have enough heavy hitters that is what I made him. He follows both Auron's and Wakka's path making not only somewhat fast but strong as hell. So no I dont think Kimahri is an irrelevant character.
 
I like Kimahri. His character and story are a nice addition to the game. I usually place him on Rikku's grid asap (Steal and a lot of health) and then move him over to Auron's or Wakka's grid, which makes him a great back up fighter. I think I'll take another route next time, maybe check out if he makes a good white or black mage.
 
I used Kimahri alot at the beginning of the game, up to the point when I got Auron. I kept using him after that, but it wasn't all the time. I forgot you fight his brothers when you get to Gagazet, and he almost got his ass kicked from being "under leveled". He didn't really need to be used for me after that because every other one of my guys were stronger.
 
He was alright to begin with. but after he tried to fight off Seymour Natus, (which was where I trained for about 3 weeks.) he was useless. I got to Biran and Yenke. Then I had to do something. it involved lots of potions and damaging items. I think I attacked using Kimahris lance about 3 times. in the whole battle. 2 of those were Jump overdrive. Yes, that was the only one i had. I had self-destruct, but that would have been pointless.

All his sphere grid area had been completed by Tidus, Auron and Wakka, and it was next on Yunas hit list.

Yeah, he was pointless, but without him, some humor would have been gone. and we'd be lacking in 2 semi-boss battles.
 
I'll be honest, when I use Kimahri, it's was mainly for grinding purposes for utter lulz.
He only REALLY came in handy for one boss later on in which Mighty Guard saved his, Yuna's and Tidus' ass.
Plus, the fact that the game balances the one boss fight where you only have him makes it extremely easy for someone who literally has the equivalent of a Lv.1 character to pass it. A boss this late doing <a couple 100 damage per spell? The hell? Ah well, maybe I shouldn't complain since you can learn a majority of his Overdrives from there...
 
hmm... Kimahri. I place him on Lulu's grid asap (black magic, you know)at the beginning. I usually train all of my characters to max, so i have to max out kimahri too :P When i got all characters at max, then i was thinking... hmm let's make a strongest party and Kimahri wasn't in it. He is strong, but Tidus, Auron and Wakka are stronger... I don't like Kimahri a lot, but i guess i can say that FFX without Kimahri isn't FFX anymore :]
