KH2 was disappointing

At least for me it was.

KH1 and CoM where actually quite difficult and challenging games imo - especially if you going through 100% runs - unlike the joke that was called KH2 which was way too short and pathetically easy.

Plus at least KH1 and CoM had difficult boss fights too, the boss fights in KH2 where just way too easy just like the rest of KH2 itself.

The boss fights in KH2 where not at all difficult. The only bosses I personally had trouble where with Xigbar, Xaldin, Seph and Xenmas - the rest of the bosses in that game where a complete joke.

Also at least KH1 and CoM had some good optional stuff to do in them unlike KH2's sidequests and minigames which where just lame. You know in CoM, its optional whether or not to 100% complete your card deck listings - you know all the enemy cards and all the keyblade cards too. Not to mention Riku's mode too once you have completed Sora's storyline.

In KH1 you had lots of optional stuff to do like the trinity marks, optional bosses, finding all the dalmations, etc. The only optional boss you had in KH2 was Seph and the optional stuff in that game like the Carpet Carpet, Sand Slider, Poster Duty and the mucial challenges in Atlantica where just either annoying and lame unlike KH1's and CoM's optional stuff which where fun to do.

Arguably also KH2 also had the worst storyline in the game - I mean besides some of the stuff with the Org members - KH2's storyline wasn't really all that great compared to either KH1 and CoM's storyline in my view. The main problem I have KH2's storyline is this.

I was angry about the lack of screen time that Axel and Roxas - two key characters central to the series - had in the entire game. Same thing for Riku and Mickey, again another pair of characters important to the overall series storyline that didn't have much screen time in KH2 either.

Also a lot of the Org members apart from Xenmas didn't really have a lot of screen time either, there should have really been focus on them since they are considered to be the main villains in the game.

I didn't really find KHII disappointing at all. I actually liked it more than the original Kingdom hearts because of more explanations on who was who and why things happened. (like the heartless and the nobodies place of origin)

I loved the graphics improvement even though it may have seemed minor for a PS2 release title. Sure playing with Disney characters may seem boring and childish, but this game didn't seem like that at all. And of course with an appearance from Auron and Vivi, what's not to like?!

Hm, well that's very interesting. I thought that KH2 was much better, compared to the original. I admit it got a bit easy especially with that reaction command, but it certainly was much more fun and much more interesting. I liked the cutscenes and ending more than the first one. The only bosses I had trouble with were Demyx, Xaldin, and Xigbar. But they really WERE hard... gave me one hell of a time. The final boss was extremely easy, but really, so was KH's final boss.

I really think the minigames in both games are lacking. No fun at all. However, If you played KH2 until you're level 99, you unlock the level 99 only collesium, and that was tons of fun. Fighting one on four (Cloud, Squall, Yuffie, and Tifa) was one hell of a battle. ;)

In KH2, I didn't mind the storyline. I loved that Sora spent time searching for Riku, and that he even got to join your party at the end of the game. So they seemed to make up for his 'lack of screentime' in the end. As for Axel, I was upset that they changed his character from a devious person, to an "Aww pity me, I'll make a sacrafice so more people like me" character. I liked the amount of screentime they gave Roxas. To me, it made his story even more depressing. :P

I agree that the Organization members should have gotten much more screen-time.

Dance water dance?

I thought the sequel was pretty good. It actually fleshed out the plot a bit and was not nearly as childish as the original. I still found the Little Mermaid singing level incredibly annoying and the gameplay was still as shallow as ever... but it wasn't a bad experience overall.

I agree. Kingdom Hearts 2 was disappointing.

- The world designs were bland and didn't encourage exploration...which makes sense considering that there's no point to explore or revisit any of the worlds.

- Way too easy. Sora is overpowered even before you consider the drive forms and reaction commands. Literally sit back and watch as the game beats your foes for you. It's bad when Kingdom Hearts is challenging by comparison.

- Summons are useless. Even if they were useful in battle (they aren't), there's no point in wasting the drive gauge on them rather than drive forms.

- Atlantica. Enough said. Why take a respectable world and turn it into such a mess? We already have the 100 Acre Wood for our boring mini-game desires. This was thrown in just to add to a game that's already lacking in things to do.

- The first five hours of the game. There's a reason I don't replay Kingdom Hearts 2 much (despite my criticism, I do happen to like the game). I can't get motivated to sit through five hours of mundane chores. It's terrible.

So yeah, I was disappointed by Kingdom Hearts 2 as well. It's by no means a bad game. It just isn't nearly as good as the first, in my opinion.

Kingdom Hearts 2 was not as good as KH1, but it's by no means a bad game. It does have some massive improvements on the first game. I can't think of many at the moment, but shoosh.

The interface was a lot better. No more having to mess around with the magic to get to the summons, everything had its own different section.

Some of the Summons had some really useful abilities. I spammed Peter Pan and Genie, because their abilities are actually useful. Ignored Chicken Little, and Stitch was a novelty. But Peter Pan's limit attacks were good for dealing damage, as were Genie's.

The Fire spell was improved a lot as well. I lost count of the number of times in KH1 when I'd been swamped by enemies and needed a quick move to take them out, or at least knock them back.

Reaction commands were fun to use.

Sora's outfit didn't melt my eyes. Neither did Riku's - I hated his Dark outfit -.-

That said, there are loads of things I didn't like about the game ¬_¬

The worlds. They were, maybe, 5 screens big. No exploration whatsoever. I got bored of them quickly.

Limits. Why the hell did they lose the good limits like Strike Raid, Sonic Blade, Ragnarok and Ars Arcanum? Those things saved me in KH1 a fair few times.

Backtracking. Oh my god the backtracking -.-

It's a glorified Hack-And-Slash game. It's basically the same thing over and over. With a funny bar at the top which basically said "Defeat all the enemies!" in more words.

Where were my Organisation? More needed to be made of them. Saix, Demyx and Xigbar basically come from nowhere in The World That Never Was (Or Hollow Bastion, in Demyx's case). They might appear once or twice in other worlds, but you don't get a feel for them at all. How was I supposed to believe that Demyx was a coward?

Atlantica. NO MORE SINGING.

Don't be hat'in on KH. I like them all equally. Great story, game play, and characters. I wouldn't complain...

although Atlantica did suck pretty bad though...

I felt that KH2 was better in story terms and how it brought the story from CoM and KH1 together. it did very well on that but i had some major bones to pick with the game:

-Drive Forms made it way too easy to beat major enemies
-Summons were lame, except for Genie, it was the only one i actually liked
-Bosses lacked creative attacks, and their patterns were bland and predictable
-Side quests were just lame, some where too difficult where others were ridiculously easy
-They turned Atlantica into Elton John's wet-dream
-Reaction commands took the remaining fun out of the already lame boss battles

Over-all i loved the game, but to me, it was just sorta lame when you compare the game to the original or CoM.

I sorta agree with you in some ways. By no means do i think this game was crappy or anything, but compared to the original it lacked something, i dunno i didnt like the worlds as much and levelling up was a total pain in the ass. also i didnt like how magic used up all your mp, instead of only taking away 1 2 or 3 bars. I think i couldve appreciated the storyline more had kh2 been a direct sequel to kh1, com spoiled that a bit imo.

edit. wow i almost forgot atlantica..............yeah u no what i mean
