This is out of general curiosity.

Do you know anyone who celebrates Kawanza? I only ask, because when I was in college I asked a few African American students if they celebrated the holiday. (They were people that I knew either as friends or group members, I didn't just go up and ask random people!) Most just laughed and said no and one had never even heard of it. But sometimes I will see Kawanza specials on TV.

So do you know anyone who celebrates it? If so, do they also celebrate Christmas?

DOnt even know what the fuck it is :rage: And all my friends are scottish aswell so probadly none of them do if its an african thing.

Well all of my black friends celebrate this and Christmas :wacky:. I honestly don't know what it entails, but I would assume it's something very similar to Christmas, or it wouldn't be the African equivalent to Christmas :8F:.

Well, there's more information about it here, if Wikipedia is reliable:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kwanzaa

I've never met anyone personally who've celebrated it, but it's apparently a fusion of Christian and African traditions that was established in the 1960s as part of the American Civil Rights movement :hmmm: It sounds like an interesting concept, but I've never actually seen it in practice.
