I really don't want to come across as whiny or sound like I'm complaining, but this has been in the back of my mind for a long time and when Decado enabled the rep system it really made me think about it:

FFF really needs an overhaul. Instead of simply enabling the rep system (nifty but ultimately useless), why not try to do more useful things? For instance, the boards themselves could use some better organization. There are so many sections and subsections that it becomes really confusing and takes some time getting used to. It's no wonder that newbies always post things in the wrong section, and even I forget where boards are located sometimes.

Also, are we ever going to get around to getting new skins? Some nice new skins would make the forums alot more aesthetically pleasing than just gray on darker gray, and it might help attract more new members.

Or is everything I just mentioned rendered pointless since we'd have to wait on LG for everything?

New skins would be nice, perhaps something like a "choose your theme" thing. I'd like to change my skins according to my mood. Ooh, maybe a theme for every FF game. That'd be cool.

I can tell you right now, I'm not going to be arsed with making a theme for any Final Fantasy game in particular unless it's Final Fantasy Tactics or Crisis Core.:neomon:

Right now, we've got a very small amount of people who do gfx and are active outside of the Killika section/are clearly concerned about the forum's status. We wouldn't have much to turn to if we didn't want to pay someone to make a skin.

I'm not sure how expensive it would be to ask Jay to make a skin, but I'm sure he'd be able to make something pleasing.

A theme for every FF would require a ton of effort...but just a few skins would be nice to change things up every now and then.

VR, you should know better. Me and Jess talked about this with you not too long ago. We do plan on doing an overhaul to FFF, but you need to be patient with us. Making skins is time consuming, a lot of the staff are busy with their lives and it's not easy to make forum skins either. We are currently discussing all of this in the staff HQ and we have been for a little while now, so please don't think we're neglecting it or not going to do it, we are. It's just a matter of finding the extra time, of Lord Golbez's agreements and if he wants to purchase skins this is his site. Just please be patient with us. We're trying to get everything taken care of here. Doing things like just takes a lot of time that a lot of just don't have at the moment.

I actually don't remember discussing it recently, but I'll take your word for it.

But if you guys are discussing it in staff, it would be nice to post little reminders in Site News or something so we're aware that you're discussing it, instead of just threads talking about how people got promoted, which we can easily tell by the color change anyway. When all the talk is resigned to the staff section and we're unaware of it, it kind of makes it look like the matter has been forgotten.

In fairness, though, there's no point in posting speculations that they're having because it'll only get people interested to the point of impatience.

On the skin front, I'm positive Mandi mentioned a wee while ago that she was gonnae be working solidly on skins as soon as Golbez had confirmed it.

As for the cleaning up of the forums, that was just done, recently. It was discussed near enough a year ago - Mandi and Bel did the re-arranging and tidying. Things were condensed really well, I think, and condensing it anymore would either remove forums or combine forums for the sake of it. Personally, I like the way the forums are, just now.

The staff list, on the other hand ... :wacky:

A new skin would be nice, but that's up to the staff and Lord Golbez.

As for the forum organization, that's been taken care of. Trust me, you didn't want to see the forums when they were out of control before ... be lucky it's like this now.

<-- Notice my join date? I was here before the boards got rearranged. While a noticeable improvement, I personally never felt that it organized things as well as they could have been.

But w/e, this thread is pointless and someone may close it if they wish, it's become apparent to me that discussing change on these forums is taboo.

The forum organization has long been a problem from before. Its' difficult to organize a forum with so many different subsections. Either we should get rid of a few, or perhaps change some of the names so that they're more obvious. I know it sounds maybe a bit creative to name the boards after things in the games, but it's not apparently obvious whether or not "Zanarkand Ruins" refers to an archive or a different board for something else.

But as per the request of the original topic poster, I'll close this.
