During Sephy's Super Nova attack, you see the solar system. Dose that mean the Planet is supposed to be future Earth or something?

You can't take it literal. Otherwise, everyone would be dead.. Nice attack though. The first time I ever fought him, I didn't know if that meant instant KO lol

The planet isn't meant to be Earth. Sephiroth's Supernova attack is just lights and magic, and entirely for show. It's not meant to be taken that he is really destroying the entire solar system in a giant fireball, and especially not our solar system.
I think they just decided to use our solar system so that we had a sense of just how powerful this attack was (or at least believe it to be more powerful than it actually was).
They made Supernova more realistic in Dissidia, and no longer includes the solar system.

Like argor said............I think there just showing the the sense of how pwerful the attack is meant to be.........
Anyway even if it was how they showed it............no-one could've survived that attack as it rips through planets........that means neither would Sephiroth or Cloud and the rest of the party or any one would survive..................

The kid is partially right.
The planet is not Earth but it is in our solar system, It exist in the same Time/Space as Earth would, FFVII takes place in the year 1997 on that planet.......strange that given it was released in our world in the same year
It is our Solar system but not our world.
It would be hard to tell a story from earth in the limited fashion of early FF games.

Of course some of the FF directors/producers want us to think it's Spira..yup..FFX's Spira...just at a different age...

No its not earth but it is our solar system.
The Gaia-Spira Link is just a great added story concept.......in the future we might see a game where the world map of spira is different almost resembling that of Gaia where characters from both games come together in a twisted reality and they fight to have it returned.
I think that would be fun?
Cloud, Yuna, Khimari, Rikku and Yuffi, Barrett Lulu TIdus, Wakka in some sort of dissidia fighting game but with a team focus and a return of the real ATB.
