Is anyone else sick of the MAC commercials?

I think this goes here.

Anyway, I keep seeing them on TV, and everytime that I do I wince. They don't even say anything good about Macs they just fling mud at Windows. It's like oh let's not talk about our awful product, but let's just talk about how awful our competition is. It makes me sick.

Also, the rep of Windows users and the PC is crap. I use a pc, and I don't wear a suit, although I'm slightly pudgy. Meanwhile, Mr.Mac is all alternative sheek geek, and all cool. If that was really the case then like less then 10 percent of the world would be cool?

Just out of curiosity, does anyone here own a MAC? If you do, was it because of the commercials, or just cuz you wanted one.

Actually, Encounters of the 4th Kind commercial has bugged me the most out of any commercial. But that's partially because I was looking at anime previews online and they played a 30 second trailer of it every-single-time. UGH.

But anyway. It doesn't annoy me much, but its been playing pretty infrequently it seems. I don't mind it since both of the actors are comedians and both of them are pretty funny.

A lot of stuff, whether online or not, seems to just work a little easier if you have a PC, rather than a MAC. I never really liked the MAC anyway. But I never have liked Microsoft either, that's more because of the creation of the Xbox though. Regardless, I've been a PC guy since forever. Not that it matters in the long run, everything runs like shit.

After buying both an Xbox and Xbox 360, and having both "stop", I can agree with that.

PS. I was reading your post and a commercial for the Fourth Kind came on. It's like you were physic.
 
I don't watch TV much so I don't see the commercials very often. They do seem to be getting continuously dumber though.

My brother and stepmother own Macs. I own all PCs. I don't really have a preference but PCs are much cheaper. Windows sucks ass as always but I've gotten used to that.
 
Lmao, you truly have no idea how much my friends say that to me. Over the years I've started to think a part of me may be psychic. It usually just gets a 'Dear God' kind of reaction, rather than anything remotely positive. XD

I was just a Sony/Playstation guy for years. Hearing all of the Halo psychotics pissed me off after like five years. Its kind of like why people hate Wal-Mart. There isn't a specific reason, you just have a sixth sense like feeling that you hate it. Same thing with me and Xbox. But the 360 has all the RPG's, so I bought one anyway. I think the same thing is true for MAC's. But maybe MAC users feel the same about PC's as well. Although with Vista, I wouldn't be surprised if some PC users converted.
 
One thing I don't understand is how Mac get's away with flaming Microsoft. Aren't they're libel issues here or something? It's one thing to pimp out your product, but can they get away with bashing a specific brand?

As for the commercials themselves, I don't really all that much. They're just there, so whatever.

I really dont get why people say that. I have had nothing but PC's my entire life and not once, not one single team has it given me and problems whatsoever. I remember having to use a Mac in school and to be nice they were the slowest pieces of hardware I had ever used.

And I really dont enjoy the commercials either I agree with padme and say that they are just a straight PC bash for 30 seconds. And whenever I see a PC commercial it doesn't bash Mac one bit. I am not saying that I hate Mac users, its just why do the commercials have to make them look like padme said. Alternative sheek geek. I just dont think it is fair.
 
I only hate microsoft because bill gates charges a jacked up price for everyhing his company sells,yet,I still own an xbox 360 and a laptop running windows vista, but I hate apple for more reasons than you can imagine,mainly because I was ripped off when I bought a bunch of stuff on itunes,and then they deleted my account,but that's another story,mac computers are expensive and buggy,but in the commercials, they only put down pc's, never listing their own problems that their computers face, the truth is,they are both money hungry companies,and only put down pc's because a while back bill gates refused to work with apple on created an internet based ip, but in reality,microsoft dishes out the stuff they have, without having to pucnh apple in the face, even though apple completely deserves it,but,I just try to ignore the stupid commercials about macs,it really gets annoying

You've never used Windows Me, I take it? Or Vista? Or 95? Windows Me was probably the shittiest OS I've ever used. You couldn't open more than one window without it blue screening.

XP was actually decent. I see no point in Vista. All they did was add annoying UAC options that send your computer into panic mode whenever you try to use it. "Windows needs your permission to continue." "Are you sure you want to install this program?" *rolls eyes* Yes, I know it can be turned off but the fact that it's even there just pisses me off. -__-

And actually, my brother turned into a complete jackass after getting a Mac. I'm beginning to wonder if those commercials are just a representation of Mac users in general. :hmmm:

MACs are more expensive though aren't they. I mean they cost like thousands and I get a computer loaded with Vista for six hundred.

I've used all three of those, and not had problems at all. I mean the UAC thing is crap, but you can turn it off. ME wasn't nearly as bad as people made it out to be, I actually sort of liked it, and I love Vista. XP was good, too though, and certainly more compatible all around.

To your last point, I agree. Everyone I know that likes MACs are complete sarcastic butt faces. It gets on my nerves so much. I'd love to hear from a MAC user who isn't though.
 
Yea, when I had television, I was pretty sick of the commercials themself.

Here's a list of why:

1) I think MAC and PC are in healthy competition together, but MAC overcompensates.

2) PC is far superior because of the customization reasons. The prices are far lower than that of a MAC in order to do custom modifications. Even if the MAC's have better video editing software, who wants to pay over a thousand dollars when PC software can be free.

3) Microsoft are money grubbing thieves, but are not only because they make smart market plans such as downloadable content for their xbox consoles. They did monopolize the pc world for quite a long time.. but I didn't exactly see the commercials left and right try to make themselves better than MAC.

4) MAC likes to destroy other people's images just like Microsoft, but more publicly. Steve Job's is brilliant but is a complete jack ass. For one his encryption codes are a joke to crack, but in all honesty.. he keeps encrypting "apple store purchases"
 
I don't really pay that much attention to them most of the time, but I have seen the commercials through well before, and yeah, it's pretty dumb, and doesn't really make me want to get a MAC any more, so it's just kinda pointless. XP

I don't watch a whole lot of TV anyways, I mostly just play video games on them or put some DVD in a DVD Player to watch on it. >.>
 
I don't watch T.V. unless I happen to be at a friends or something, but I have seen the commercials before and I thought they were pretty stupid.

The think they're being funny too. Maybe I just don't get that kind of humour. <_<

But yeah seriously, those ads wouldn't change anyones minds in my opinion.

Everyone knows that they're just trying to get people to buy their products regardless if they're better than the other company or not.

To be honest I've not seen them on the TV for a while.
But i have noticed that the new windows 7 advertisements are similar to the MAC adverts.

I find it funny that all the mud they are throwing on 7 is based off of the past OSs, seriously how childish could you get. I have been running windows 7 for the past month and guess what it is more stable then a mac has ever been, which is properly the only good thing to say about a mac.
Sadly enough mac has been bested in all areas and they know it, so they are using this time where Windows 7 is still in the trial phase to try to get as many people to fall for their lame system.

That is very simple. The law against Libel states that inorder for it to be considered libel it must be false. Up until now there was facts that vista sucked that is where mac got their mud from then. Now because 7 has no known problems mac is having to go to the past OSs that microsoft made.
 
My computer (Compaq) is six years old. Three-plus years ago I had to wipe the hard drive. That's the only problem I've ever had, outside of the age slowing it down slightly, and an occasional crash here and there.

My girlfriend has had a Mac laptop for almost two years. She has had to replace the motherboard once, and had to send it in to the Apple Factory in Florida for some other major repair. It freezes just as often as my Compaq does, and she has to hard reboot it more often than she should.

Macs aren't as magical as the commercials make them out to be.
 
I have never had any problems with any of the Apple computers in our house but. I think instead of Apple making fun of Microsoft, they should have like. A demo of the Mac OS and show how different it is compared to Windows. Or something. Since I have used both I would think that a commercial that isn't bashing Microsoft and just showing off the Mac OS would be interesting. Something like how to uninstall a program you drag it to the trash. Or how in preview you can do basic Photoshop stuff without photoshop. Stuff like that.

Though I don't find the commercials annoying... I do find them rather pointless. The Mac commercials need to be more like the iPod commercials IMHO.

Also, its Mac not MAC

MAC is Media Access Control.

Mac is the one short for Macintosh.

There is nothing wrong wit the commercials. They just state some of the things that Apple thinks they do better. They don't bother me at all. They aren't particularly annoying, at least compared to other commercials and aren't very long. I don't have any problems with them. I think the Microsoft commercials suck a lot harder.

Well 7 is still brand new and a lot if not most of the things Mac pics on in their commercials aren't specific to different Microsoft OS's


I really don't like Microsoft. Mostly because of all the problems I've had with Xbox 360's.

They both have good products.
