I think he sort of has a point actually. The Ipod Touch/Iphone is already a strong contender in the handheld market and the Ipad has the potential to be so as well. If you ask me, it all depends on what the Nintendo 3DS will be capable of.
Apple's products have the advantage of being so much more than just handheld gaming systems, so Nintendo really has to up their game and create something that is superior as a gaming system in every way, shape and form. If they don't, I don't think many people would bother supporting them.
