I don't get it. The menu says you are invisible, but you aren't. Is there any way to fix this?

Umm...are you talking about FFXII or are you talking about here on FFF when you check "Invisible" to other users? Cuz uh, I'll move this out of the FFXII section if this was just a random place to put a 'help' thread...

Yeah, it's FFXII I'm talking about. I'm just wondering why casting the spells/ using the motes doen't make you invisible.

If this is to do with FFXII, then this thread should have been posted in the Help Booth. If it's to do with the site, then it should have been placed in the Help Desk. I think a re-name for one of them is in order. xD

To answer both questions, invisibility in XII only lasts for a short period of time, during which you cannot attack enemies - if you do, the invisibility is lost and disappears immediately. On the site, a small star next to your username on the "Currently Active Users" list means that you are invisible and that only staff can see you.

Invisible just reduces the chance you have of being noticed by enemies. The vanish effect will fade off over time when the target moves or performs an action. It mainly works when your party is out of the enemies' line of sight. So, if you walk by an enemy, it may hardly notice you. If you attack it however, your invisibility may vanish and then you will be retaliated against whomever you attacked.

EDIT: Ninja'd by Riku

Hrmm....

I've used Vanish before and tried walking past enemies and sometimes they still notice me. =/. Is it cause I run? =/.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's meant to be a stealthy cover. I mean you can creep along in a forest in camo and go un-noticed, but if you're wearing the same camo and doing the 40 yard dash will get you noticed no matter what you're wearing.

I think if you creep by slowly, and try to keep a bit of a distance from the fiend, you'll do fine.

So... it's pretty much useless unless you turn your gambits off and do absolutely nothing? Wow, what a waste of gil...

Not exactly a waste of gil, you can use it to move somewhere fast and without calling many enemies attention and they can't spot/target you unless you too close to them.

Simpy hold the "RUN" button and head to any area you want quick without getting too close to them, its quite helpful sometimes.
