Argor, thanks for intercepting; I think he would've kept going even though I tried to point out that he was going very far off-topic. I only meant to point out an error and leave it at that; my intention wasn't to have it go too far. In any case ...
I just realized how cute Sneakerpimp441 is when she's trying to go off on someone.
A few more borderline questionable items in this thread may be justified.

I thought she was going to talk my fingers off with those verbose retorts.![]()
I wasn't even trying to go off on you, I was merely (as I stated multiple times) trying to correct you on an error you made. You proceeded to deviate from the original point of this thread, which was to state random facts. I only entertained you by responding to your verbose tirades. I didn't even have to reply and certainly my intent wasn't to belittle you; again, merely to correct you.
Honestly, was there any reason for you to reply to that in such an acerbic manner? I could do without the nasty sarcasm; what transpired is done: I corrected you on something minor, we both went off-topic somewhat, and now we're back on-topic. Basically, what I'm trying to say is, it's not necessary to flog a dead horse, I'm finished with "trying to go off on someone" as you so nicely put it.
1. Old water pipes were made of wood. Wood submerged in water doesn't rot & turns out to be an excellent material for it.
2. The tissue adjacent an octopus beak is soft while the beak itself is hard. The way in which soft tissue can support a hard beak that is subject to rigorous forces & stress is interesting from a materials science point of view.
3. Carbon fiber weakens & eventually breaks down in ultraviolet light. Hence, its important for it to be covered by paint sufficient to the task of functioning as a shield against sunlight.
4. Cats with identical DNA can be completely different in coloration. This is explained by an emerging field known as epigenetics which suggests there is an abstraction layer above DNA that can affect which genes are active or inactive.
5. To counter the story of Romney strapping a dog to his roof for a long trip, some have brought up Obama eating dog meat during his time spent in Indonesia as a child. I don't know whether this is better or worse than Obama going on record as having read the Harry Potter books and Romney countering this by going on record as having read the Twilight books, but it is somewhat disgusting.
I'm only kidding.
I'm not always serious y'know?
I wonder if it surprises people that I have a sense of humor..
