I'm so freaking embarrassed!!!!!

I see most of these moments happen with you guys when you forget to save for ages. I usually am paranoid and always have that feeling on the back of my head after I've done a fair bit that I must save, and hence whenever I come across ANY save point I save, especially on the first playthrough, because I don't know how soon the next one will be.

Best example would be when I chose to fight the Turks under Midgar on Disc 2. Vincent sat there healing the hell out of Reno while Cloud was killing Barrett under confusion, while simultaneously getting his own ass handed to him by Rude.

Vincent was obviously helping his old friends. :D Lol. But I hate these kind of dead end moments when half your party is under status ailments that prevent you from controlling them and another half is too low on health and is about to die.

Hmm, embarrassing moments from me? How about that time I first went underwater in FFVII and saw a big green thing going through. I thought "Hmm, let's kick the s*** out of it" only to realise that I was the one to have s*** kicked out of him.
I'll try to remember more.

I am the same, I save non-stop. It pays off, though.

And I forgot to mention, but I also had the same experience as someone else who already posted here (they're too far back for me to see them under previous posters) when I played Tactics for the first time. Ramza and Delita got their butts handed to them 4 times before I realised there were other party members I could deploy.

When my brother accidentally saved over my FF13 game. i had to start over from scratch. i was soo mad i didnt play it for about a month.

^Do you use only 1 save slot? I need at least 2 for any game I ever play. That way in case I messed up in-game I can always go to an earlier save.

4 moments for you xD

with FFX, the lightning dodging game, finally reached around 190, then I didn't pay attention and got struck by lightning, gosh.

FFX, I'd finally beaten Yunalesca with much afford. It took me a while, I headed back to see if there was a treasure ( I read that on internet) so I walked up there and tehre was Dark bahamut and killed me, had to start the whole freaking yunalesca fight all over again.

And when I played FFXIII I didn't know how to go further in chapter 8 (?) , there are two buttons for the elevator and I just walked around and kept on touching the left one but nothing happened, never saw the other button >.<

With omega ruins in FFX I leveled up for two hours, was almost at the save point (was too stubborn to do that before) marlboro came and killed my party.

I wouldn't say it was "embarrassing" as such, just stupid. Final Fantasy XII, and I'm sure a hell of a lot of other people have done this too, but that stupid T-Rex at the very beginning of the game and is pretty much the first thing you see. I knew before I even initiated a battle that this would kick probably kick my ass, safe to say it did in one quick swoop. :ffs:

With omega ruins in FFX I leveled up for two hours, was almost at the save point (was too stubborn to do that before) marlboro came and killed my party.

Happened to me on the Calm Lands. I was levelling up and catching monsters. Done that for about full 45 minutes and thought "OK, 1 more fight and then I'll save and finish for today". Little did I know that the next fight was Marlboro who destroyed me. Annoyed me greatly, but I did catch him the next day. That sleazy status ailment tentacle thing!

I didn't know about the treasure too until I had a quick glance at the walkthrough. But when I got back I didn't see the Dark Bahamut. How far did you exit before coming back? I only got as far as the save sphere.

Speaking of Yunalesca fight... my first time to reach it yesterday in fact, and I got a really embarrassing death, because it was a stupid mistake. Basically my party was Auron, Tidus and Rikku (they're my best characters). Auron was in zombie status as I needed to keep him alive in case if MegaDeath strikes. But then she does the Mind Blast attack which confused Tidus. Tidus hits Rikku, KOing her. The next go she hits Tidus with Hellbiter I think, hence taking him out of Confusion (he has auto-med, so zombie status doesn't stay). I decide to revive Rikku with Phoenix Down. The camera angle made it hard to judge who the arrow was pointing at and so accidentally he used it on... V_V Auron. Auron goes KO, but at least Tidus has another turn (due to Haste), so I use Phoenix Down on Rikku. Now nobody is in zombie status, and guess what attack Yunalesca decides to cast?! You got it. Mega-friggin-Death! If only I didn't misjudge the arrow and camera angle I would've had the fight in the bag (I did on the second try though, so no biggie).

It almost seems the game does it on purpose xD as if it knows we are supposed to save/ quit and then decides to wipe our party out with the lovely Marlboro so we have to start all over again and we will spend more time to play the game any longer!

I think I already headed up the elevator, thought I could save at the savepoint up ahead (at cloister of trials) and then remembered the treasure and surprise, there was Dark Bahamut, I'm not sure though, it's been a while.

Unfortunately one of my most embarrassing moments was a few days ago -_-
I've only just recently bought XIII due to lack of funds an' all that.
Talking to my buddies who have had it a while and they were telling me that gil is really hard to get. I said something along the lines of I haven't had much trouble yet, to which they both laughed at me. Apparently.. I'm not supposed to sell weapons and accessorys.
I've had to start again -_-

It really does feel that way. Happened to me yesterday again, but with two demonoliths at Omega ruins. Killed one of them and got the second one to under 1000 health. It waited all that time to then unleash its breath attack and petrify my whole party. And once again, I was literally gonna save after that fight. Grrr. (just for the record, I used aeons for most of the fight so to not risk a chance of getting petrified as they're immune to it)

1. Recently in FF8 I accidently overwrote my perfect game with a newly started no junction game. That was... horrible.
2. First FF8 playthrough: I thought the game would be easy so I didn't pay attention to leveling, upgrading weapons and junctions SO... I was 'destroyed' by Adel on Disc 4 and I had to start all over from the beginning....

First I should say I remember vividly posting this in another thred but currently my eyes just cant stand the hunting....
This one has nothing to do with anything within the game but my actions in regards to the game and console......

When I first got my PS2 I bought three games for it FFVIII being the first one I chose to play, mind you I didnt play games since the Sega Genn wich was long ago, anyhoo I Inseted said game and for the life of me couldnt figure out what the hell was wrong with it!
It wouldnt let me save ...for hours I played and played then became irked because everytime I turned it off it wouldnt frikkin save what I had done.
SO over and over again I had to do that damn inital test of getting ifrit till finally I snapped and was about to call that number thet came with the console to figure out what was wrong with it...
What was wrong with it? I never bought a savecard for it.....
Hence the massive humiliation

Biggest Embarrassment....

Would have to be when i first played a final fantasy game. I spent 3 hours tryin to kill that mechanical spider in Dollet (during the SeeD mission).
Embarrassing when the spider falls down to recuperate only to have it get back up on all fours after spamming thunder spells to try kill it >.>

In FFXII, even though I have like, 3 million gil, I sold all of my Black Orbs before going into the Pharos Subterra, because I didn't think that I would need them :ffs: And they were only worth like, a dollar. Yeah.

Also, pretty much every time I've gotten lost for 20 minutes on one screen because I can't figure out from the graphics where I'm supposed to go. I know it's not always my fault, especially in games like FFVII and FFVIII, where some of them I'm assuming most people with regular eyeballs would have trouble with :hmph:; but I still always feel like I'm really stupid for missing the path when I finally do figure it out :ffs:

one time when i fight yunalesca...(already knowing the boss stradegy). After being zombified I poped a mega elixer on myself.... Not my most shining moment.

Also knowing that i wanted to beat the story in 7 and than afterwards do all the extras and the optional bosses.....I forgot to save before i finished the story...except for hours before I fought sephiroth. So i finished and had to backtrack a lot to get the levels and items I found back.

woops ive done that before :) the latest for me was just last week, started playing ff9 again and i decided to level up as much as i could. area between lindblum and pinnacle rocks, anyway got to level 25 which take a long time to do considering its near the start of the game and my dog came running in and knocked my ps1 over onto the floor which froze the whole thing needing it to be restarted. i went to reload and sudenly realised i hadnt saved since the castle at the very start of the game with Steiner :jimberry::panic::ffs::faint:

Friend of mine in FF VIII lost Ragnarok somehow... I'm not really sure how he did this. It took him 6 hours to walk everywhere he possibly could to find it again. He thinks he somehow glitched over a barrier and was unable to go back the same way.
He also lost Monstro in Kingdom Hearts, and didn't complete it until well into the 2nd half of the game when it suddenly re-appeared.

Myself, FF IV took me 3 playthroughs to realize I could Float to prevent environment damage in the Land of the Summoned Monsters/ cave of the sylph.

FFX-2 going for 100% and I forgot to check 1 vital moviesphere while on my airship. ... resulted in my 4th playthrough on the same save without 100%.

There is also the countless fights where I manage to get bosses down to the final few HP, only to spend 15 minutes surviving to get in that last hit.
I'm sure I have more too.

I've done that too...It's not a shining moment no..xD

I made a hooter last night actually, I was playing Kingdom Hearts 2, and I was fighting Sephiroth, and I beat him, so I kept going and kept playing to try and max stats. I maxed stats and thought I would go downstairs to make a coffee.

I came up and saw that my brother had taken the game out and play his own game. :gunk:

I shit my pants once when playing FF6j (the original) on SNES and accidently did the Sketch glitch. Completely fucked my graphics, my saves and eventually the cartridge just died. I burned that bastard like it was infected with the plague.

Oh yeah, and the moment in FF7 when you come out of the Gelnika at Level 40 after running through the whole thing to pick up Hades, the Conformer and Double Cut without dying to find Emerald sitting about a centimetre away. Not even moving. Just sitting there, moving it's shoulders up and down.

It could smell my fear.

FFFVIII - at the Centra Ruins

And there's actually two examples here I can use! :D

First - Using the strategy guide, I took on Odin. According to the guide, I didn't need to worry about his attacks as he was fairly ambivalent - just wait for the clock to count down to zero and then Odin agrees to join your party. Naively I believed that, and instead of attacking spent the time drawing 'death' and 'triple' magic from him. At the end of the countdown, I eagerly anticipated some animatic of him agreeing to join my party, and then lo-and-behold, instead he casts down my entire party with one blow of his sword!

Second - after the experience outlined above, when I took on Odin for the second time, I ignored the guide and just attacked from the off - nailing him this time and getting him to agree to join my party. Buoyed by this I then set about racking up the kills required to draw the Tonberry King - first one pops up, and he's an easy-looking fellow who just shuffles towards you not inflicting massive amounts of damage. Great I thought, an easy win for me. Instead, the bugger eventually gets to my party and knifes it to death in no time. Didn't even have time to try and escape! He took down the first two and then got my final party member as they were trying to cast life on one of those downed. Sadly, because I hadn't left the Centra Ruins and returned to the world map, I hadn't had the time to save my game - hence, I had to take on Odin for a third time! :D
